Chapter 745: Chapter 745: Evil Fiend and Auspicious God

"Is it time to start a new week?"

"Attention player 0000! After initiating a new week in Zero’s Paradise, all residual souls within will be sacrificed and become part of the Paradise."

As soon as Han Fei entered the seventh room of Zero’s Paradise, a system notification echoed in his mind.

"No!"

The Ghost Manager hadn’t appeared yet, and Han Fei didn’t want the residual souls he had painstakingly summoned to dissipate just like that.

After making his choice, Han Fei began to survey his surroundings. The room, known as Sunday, was filled with Death Intent, and death manifested itself in unexpected ways.

Unfinished paintings, hanging white silk, lifelike specimens, various relics, and farewell letters.

The room resembled an art exhibition hall themed around death. Regardless of what he had experienced in the previous rooms, everything eventually led to an end, with death seemingly the only destination.

Walking through it, Han Fei was initially just curious, but as he continued, he gradually realized something was amiss.

The room had an internal corridor. Passing through the long corridor, Han Fei entered a strange place that looked like an orphanage.

The date displayed on the calendar was Sunday, and a diary left by a nurse mentioned that the children had been sent away, to a place they would never return from.

The orphanage was filled with traces of the children’s lives, preserved clothing they had worn, utensils they had used, various games they had played, yet not a single person was in sight.

Considering death being the theme, Han Fei felt that all the children from this orphanage might have already been killed, and what he saw were all relics.

"An utterly ordinary day, no anomalies in the room, at least that’s how it appears to me," he thought.

Sunday seemed very mundane, just like every day Han Fei had experienced before acquiring the Black Box, dull, tedious, and desolate, with a sense of rot and silence.

"If I had chosen ’yes’ earlier, would this room have transformed into something else?" Han Fei looked around the orphanage devoid of children, feeling an indescribable strange sense. "Zero’s Paradise, the Zero here must represent both me and Kuangxiao. I have no memories of this place, so these seven rooms could have been constructed based on Kuangxiao’s seven segments of memories."

Han Fei wanted to continue exploring, but suddenly, a banging noise came from outside the room, prompting him to immediately turn back the way he had come.

As he rushed out of the Sunday room, Han Fei saw the door to the Monday room trembling continuously. He hurried over, grabbed the doorknob, and pulled hard.

In coordination with the force inside, Han Fei successfully opened the door to Monday.

The Ghost Manager, Yen Huai, who had been fine before, now crawled out of the door in tattered clothes. After he left, the door to Monday automatically closed.

"Are you okay?" As Han Fei reached to help the Ghost Manager, a bone-chilling cold pierced straight to his heart when his hand touched the other’s.

"I’m fine." The Ghost Manager Yen Huai raised his head, his gaze towards Han Fei now different, filled with pity and confusion.

"Player number 0000, please note! C-Class Talent Residual Soul Yin Huai has successfully cleared the first room in Zero’s Paradise, increasing his friendliness towards you by five points and earning the special status of ’Mercy’. He saw many things, but he cannot speak of them; those experiences can only be buried deep within his heart."

The system’s notification suddenly rang out, prompting Han Fei to ask the Ghost Manager subconsciously, "Why do I feel you’ve changed? What did you see in the room?"

"I saw your past..." the Ghost Manager replied with a bitter smile, choosing not to continue the topic. "The fact that you will grow into a monster is an error we committed. Someone needs to bear this sin, and this distortion also needs someone to rectify it."

"I appreciate your willingness to bear the fault, but I don’t see myself as a monster!" Han Fei pointed to his own face. "Am I that twisted?"

"The reason psychiatric patients are called such is because they have poor self-control and a severe imbalance in self-awareness." The Ghost Manager was deeply affected by what he saw, and he now firmly believed that Han Fei had become a madman.

"Let’s talk about something more realistic then. The Paradise is now besieged on all sides, your old friend, the Dream Manager, has become the Unspeakable of the Deep World, and it plans to eliminate all survivors within the Paradise and then gradually erode the real world. I’ve been striving to stop it, but my power is still too weak, so I hope you can join my team." To achieve great things, one must learn to be shameless; Han Fei really hoped the Ghost Manager could stay and help him.

"I am currently injured and have not fully recovered."

"No problem." Han Fei opened his attribute panel. After completing Fu Sheng’s Shrine Inheritance Task, he still had an unused wish reward: "I can heal all injuries of a ghost and monster under hatred!"

"That’s of no use to me." The Ghost Manager shook his head, looking at his severed arm. "I’m different from a ghost and monster, taking a very special path, which is also the path chosen by all former Ghost Managers of Paradise."

"A special path?" Han Fei felt there was no need for the Ghost Manager to lie; moreover, it was very likely that he had already reached the stage of hatred.

"A Paradise Ghost Manager can temper the malice in their evil fiend body. The more ghosts and monsters we suppress, the stronger we become," the Ghost Manager glanced at the Ghost Pattern on Han Fei’s body. "It’s similar to your method of improvement. Sometimes I wonder if you have also inherited some of the Ghost Manager’s abilities. The Slaughter Saber, the Ghost Pattern, these are the legacies of past Ghost Managers of Paradise."

"It must have been left by Fu Sheng." The Ghost Pattern was drawn by the neighbor in the Death Building, and the Rebirth Slaughter Saber was what the Spider in Beast Alley had been eager to forge. Both were related to Fu Sheng.

"Fu Sheng? That name sounds so familiar... It feels like it’s gradually fading from my memory." After saying this, the Ghost Manager’s double eyes looked at Han Fei, but reflected in his pupils was another young man’s figure, which was gradually being replaced by Han Fei. "Okay, I don’t mind helping you, but I need to forge my own saber first."

"I know a place where you can probably find a saber suitable for you." Han Fei called several citizen representatives to follow the Ghost Manager to Beast Alley.

Once the haunt of the Spider, this was the dirtiest and bloodiest part of the Death Building Area. People who had lost their souls became beasts wielding sabers, with slaughter playing out at every moment.

Upon returning to Beast Alley, Han Fei looked at the small alley he had once fled through, feeling somewhat dazed. Unconsciously, he had grown to extents he never dared to imagine before.

"My saber was forged right here; you guys should look carefully. There should still be a large number of sword embryos hidden in the alley."

The Ghost Manager knew the Slaughter Sabers well. Han Fei took this opportunity to empty out all the hidden Slaughter Sabers in Beast Alley and distribute them to the citizens so they could have the means to protect themselves.

Most ghosts and monsters were merely fighting on instinct, relying entirely on their Talent Abilities. However, all the residual souls Han Fei brought out from Fu Sheng’s Shrine remained lucid and could become stronger under the leadership of the Ghost Manager, turning into maintainers of order.

As soon as they entered Beast Alley, the Ghost Manager’s eyes lit up. His nostrils flared as if a Taotie smelling a delicious meal, and he moved briskly through the alley.

One by one, old and damaged Slaughter Sabers were found by the Ghost Manager. He seemed able to communicate with the souls trapped within all the sabers, sensing the characteristics of each saber.

"Although all the Slaughter Sabers here in Beast Alley are Dirty Sabers, with patience, they can all gradually be purified into true Ghost-slaying Sabers." The Ghost Manager swung a saber with his remaining arm; all the sabers touched by him seemed to be consecrated, losing some of their evil spirits and gaining more spirit.

"The quality of a saber isn’t inherently good or bad; it depends on the person using it. When choosing a Slaughter Saber, it’s crucial to find the one that best matches your characteristics." The Ghost Manager placed all the sabers he found onto Big Evil, ready to pull them back to Paradise, letting the citizens choose for themselves: "I chose you in the Shrine World largely because of your saber. A person with such a saber can’t be a bad guy."

Having navigated through the complex alleys, the Ghost Manager arrived at the Flesh Factory, where he picked up the huge hook lock once used by the factory owner, stopping for the first time, "Such a brutal saber, filled with pure malice and slaughter."

He severed the latter half of the hook lock, removed the sharp, serrated hook at the forefront, a massive iron hook around half a meter long, heavy, pitch black, and covered with dried blood.

"Is this also a Slaughter Saber?" Han Fei, looking perplexed, had almost been pierced by this hook lock; even reminiscing about it now gave him chills.

"Yes," the Ghost Manager revealed a smile, the first one Han Fei had ever seen on him, "I really didn’t expect to find a suitable saber so quickly. It is still too fragile now, but I will gradually nurture it into the most ferocious Slaughter Saber."

Having acquired a new saber, the Ghost Manager was still not satisfied, and he continued roaming around the factory.

When his gaze landed on the dried-up Blood Pool, his eyes brightened again, "This saber suits me well too."

Jumping down into the Blood Pool, the Ghost Manager walked to the edge of the pool, where he dug out a slender Boning Knife from a pile of blood stains.

Unlike the other Slaughter Sabers found in Beast Alley, this blade was intact. Despite being excavated from the blood filth, there was not a single bloodstain on the blade, smooth and flawless.

"How strange, this blade remains untainted by the blood stains and can even enhance one’s fortune."

It was the first time the Ghost Manager had seen such a Sword Embryo, and Han Fei too found it strange. This blade was sunk at the very bottom of the Blood Pool, close to the heart of the Spider; during his previous visit, he had been so focused on the Spider’s heart that he hadn’t noticed this blade at all.

"Beast Alley, filled with filth, seems to have been made to create this special blade." The Ghost Manager grasped the handle, and as he swung the blade, it seemed as if even the fetid air of the Flesh Factory was cleaved apart.

"The Spider’s natural enemy is the Butterfly; he always wanted to forge a blade filled with humanity. This blade was likely prepared by him for himself, but he still headed down the wrong path. True beauty in a blade can’t be forged actively." Han Fei probably guessed the reason behind this blade’s presence, "May I see these two Slaughter Sabers?"

The Slaughter Sabers "identified" by the Ghost Manager had all undergone certain changes; one of his Talent Abilities seemed to be able to activate the characteristics of evil weapons.

Taking the Slaughter Sabers in hand, the moment Han Fei touched them, he heard the system’s voice in his mind.

"Attention Player No. 0000, you have successfully discovered a growable F-grade Evil Fiend Slaughter Saber."

"Evil Fiend: This Slaughter Saber can imprison souls, absorb pain and malice, and grow faster the more it is used for killing."

"Attention Player No. 0000, you have successfully discovered a growable F-grade Auspicious God Slaughter Saber."

"Auspicious God: This Slaughter Saber can only be used by those it accepts."

The Ghost Manager truly was an expert in this field; if it weren’t for him, Han Fei might also not have discovered these two F-grade Slaughter Sabers.

Yet, Han Fei had no intention of claiming the Slaughter Sabers for himself; he already possessed Rebirth, and these two sabers would achieve their greatest effect in the hands of the Ghost Manager.

With the Ghost Manager’s help, Han Fei and his team managed to find almost five hundred Slaughter Sabers in Beast Alley, of which more than four hundred were of no particular distinction, merely tainted by filth and Death Intent. Moreover, a good fifty Slaughter Sabers reached G-grade after the Ghost Manager had honed them.

Beyond Evil Fiend and Auspicious God, the Ghost Manager found two more F-grade Slaughter Sabers in a corner of Beast Alley, all of which Han Fei packed and took back to Paradise in batches.

He wanted the Ghost Manager to select appropriate individuals from among the tens of thousands of citizens to teach them how to use and recognize the sabers.

The city of Deep World had no laws, everyone could carry a blade, and everyone was permitted to kill, but if anyone broke the commonly agreed-upon rules, it meant that everyone was also allowed to execute them.

By this point, Han Fei had nearly depleted the rewards he obtained from Fu Sheng’s Shrine, reserving the opportunity that came with healing hatred below ghost monsters for a critical moment later on.

Next, he intended to utilize the Soul Trading Shrine of Mirror God and Zero’s Paradise to start a rampant expansion, striving to increase his strength as much as possible before the dream arrived.

With Xu Qin by his side, Han Fei searched for a long period in the Paradise Area and finally triggered a G-level task, which he completed with ease only to find out that G-level tasks no longer provided experience, and the experience from F-level tasks was exceedingly limited.

He now faced a dilemma: any area he controlled hardly ever refreshed with new tasks, as the system kept pushing him to explore unknown territories.

"Level twenty-five, I can hardly imagine myself still at the beginning of the game; it feels like, in a normal game, the world would have been destroyed several times over by now."

After completing the task, Han Fei began arranging for his neighbors to continue exploring outward, while he, accompanied by the Painter and Xu Qin, entered the Plastic Surgery Hospital Area and met Little White Shoes.

Being fellow orphans who’d been harmed, Little White Shoes initially detested Han Fei, but as his goodwill appeared, helping Han Fei speak, his hatred for Han Fei lessened somewhat.

Having him help Han Fei was still a bit unrealistic, but at least he wasn’t going to cause trouble for Han Fei anymore.

After dealing with everything, Han Fei logged off. Due to the emergence of the Paradise Passage, reality was very chaotic, and he didn’t dare stay in the game for too long.

Removing his gaming helmet, Han Fei walked to the window and glanced outside through a gap in the curtains; even in the wee hours, many reporters were still staked out outside his apartment.

"Really dedicated."

He opened the refrigerator, prepared a hot meal for himself, and started scrolling through messages on his phone while eating.

Huang Ying had topped the trending searches, becoming a hero.

The mysterious man with a beast face ranked second in the hot searches; amid the blame-shifting by Deep Space Technology and Eternal Life Pharmaceutical, he became known as the head of a hacking group that maliciously exploited game glitches, responsible for tens of thousands of players having their accounts banned.

"Just as I expected, but I’m somewhat surprised that Deep Space Technology hasn’t given a specific way to deal with this; they wouldn’t be planning to leave the glitch unaddressed, would they?"

Han Fei was still at the eye of the storm, with the suspicions of the two major technological companies towards him unrelieved. If it weren’t for strict police protection, he might have already "disappeared" quietly.

Closing the web page, Han Fei opened his mailbox, replied to some everyday messages, but then he suddenly noticed an email from an unfamiliar number.

"My name is Du Jing, we’ve met once in Paradise, and I have a few questions about you that I’d like to clarify: if it’s convenient for you, could you provide an address so we could have a proper chat?"

Perhaps because Han Fei hadn’t replied, the unknown number sent another message half an hour later.

"I’ve thought a lot and feel like I’ve forgotten the most important person in my life. I desperately want to hold on to him, but my mind is slowly forgetting, and nothing I do helps."

"Can you tell me? Is there another family member named Fu Tian?"
