Chapter 607: Chapter 607 Occasionally Healing Others (Great Luck)
The tall security guard was beside himself, his pupils constricted, his eyes filled with terror.
He stumbled over to the wooden table where the actors were seated and, as if by accident, fell onto it, knocking over the already unsteady table.
The wooden table looked fine from the front, but the back was covered in numerous curse spells and sticky things like hair and skin.
"Someone’s dead! There’s really a dead person!"
The tall security guard covered his head, his acting seemingly better than that of some actors on scene.
"Don’t panic. Slow down and tell us, what did you see on the building facade?" Wu Li crouched in front of the tall security guard and asked softly.
"Retribution! It’s retribution! There’s no escaping it! We’re all going to die! No one can get away!" The tall security guard suddenly became agitated, grabbing Wu Li’s hands, revealing his arms full of scars under the uniform—this seemingly ordinary security guard.
Wu Li was startled and hurriedly backed away.
"And you call yourself a horror film actor?" Bai Cha steadied Wu Li. "You really need to improve your mental fortitude."
"This group is acting their parts well, much better than some actors." Xiao Chen grabbed the tall security guard’s shoulders. "You said there’s a dead person, where’s the body? Who is it? Is it that short security guard from before?"
The tall security guard seemed to have been scared witless, pointing shakily inside the building, unable to utter a word for a long time.
"Looks like it’s our cue to go in and investigate—isn’t this where the plot thickens?" Xiao Chen stood up, slinging his bag back on, and looked back at the three ladies. "Let’s go together. I’ll lead the way."
"Okay." Xia Yilan gently patted Han Fei. "Han Fei, are you not going?"
"Still eating? Did you come here just to eat the props?" Li Huang had seen many actors, but it was her first time encountering someone like Han Fei. Treating the program like his own home, he casually ate the props without following the script.
Nodding, Han Fei also rose to his feet and looked toward the depths of the building.
When he had come with Bai Xian previously, they had only searched building one, without delving too deep.
"I suggest we split into two teams, some stay to watch over this living security guard, while the rest go in to explore." In fact, by saying this, Han Fei wanted to protect the tall security guard; in this haunted building, a person alone could genuinely become a target for ghosts.
"Have you gotten into your role too?" Bai Cha gave a cold smile and headed straight for the building.
"Han Fei, let’s go together, we need to share some screen time." The singer Alin spoke up to persuade, as a singer transitioning to acting, she knew everyone had their conflicts and for the program to be recorded smoothly, she had to play the mediator.
"Alright then." Han Fei gave the tall security guard a glance, his eyes carrying a hint of chill: "Make sure you don’t run off."
The seven actors left the hall, walking through the dimly lit corridor where the temperature kept dropping, Xia Yilan, dressed quite revealingly, was starting to feel the cold.
Footsteps crunched over the broken floor tiles, gaps occasionally harboring nameless insects, and the walls on both sides were adorned with strange symbols and patterns, most relating to the human body, but a closer look revealed that all the human figures were disjointed—none were whole.
The overhead lighting was very dim, possibly due to aging wiring, flickering from time to time.
"This plastic surgery hospital sure does look eerie." Xiao Chen, walking in front, slowed down even more, his face still beaming with sunshine, yet his body honestly kept inching back.
Behind the main hall of the plastic surgery hospital that Han Fei visited last time was a six-story wing for VIP patients, which even included an elevator.
The seven actors walked through the corridor and stopped in front of the wing’s entrance, where they saw copious amounts of blood on the ground.
"The first crime scene was right here, but the body has vanished. Now the tall security guard has been scared out of his wits, the short security guard has been harmed, indicating there is a third stranger in the building—he is the murderer!" Wu Li’s analysis was logical, and the other actors nodded in agreement.
"Have you considered another possibility?" Han Fei pointed at the blood on the floor. "We only heard the short security guard’s screams, but we didn’t see his body. The tall security guard also didn’t clarify who the dead person was. So, it’s possible that the two security guards might be the murderers. They could have committed the murder here, and because we showed up abruptly, they were trying to buy time to dispose of the body, so they pretended in front of us."
"Yeah." Wu Li was slightly startled. "I thought too simply."
"To verify it, the simplest method is to follow the bloodstains to find the body. By the way the murderer handles the body and their proficiency, we can also deduce some information about the murderer’s character." Han Fei walked straight into the wing, his demeanor giving off a "professionally astute" impression.
"Your lines aren’t bad, you play the part quite convincingly." Bai Cha stood at the entrance; the other actors followed Han Fei into the wing until he was left alone and reluctantly entered.
Following the blood on the floor, Han Fei pushed open the door to the emergency exit where the blood split into two parts—one leading upstairs and another into the basement.
"Was someone dismembered?" Wu Li scratched his head. "Why isn’t this following the script? Wasn’t it supposed to start with the security guard explaining the situation, then us exploring?"
"No clues given, are they trying to make our performance even more realistic?" Li Huang mused over the director’s intentions, her arms folded across her chest, showcasing the muscle lines.
"Shall we split up? One team heads to the basement, the other upstairs?"
While the six other actors were discussing, Han Fei squatted next to the blood pool, fiddling with a stick he had picked up, stirring the blood like a child playing with mud.
"A bit interesting,"
Upon hearing Han Fei’s voice, the group gathered around.
"Did you find anything?" Xia Yilan felt a bit cold, as if a pair of eyes were constantly watching her.
"Part of this bloodstain is artificial plasma, and part is real blood. Do you think someone might have really died in the building?" Han Fei used a stick to pick out a small piece of cloth soaked with blood from the puddle. "The color of the fabric matches the uniform of the two security guards; it might have been torn from them."
With meticulous observation and strong memory, Han Fei’s experience in tracking down homicides was simply too rich.
"Then this further suggests that the two security guards are suspects!" Said Xiao Chen, in a very cool tone as a qualified know-it-all, "We’ll go back now and find the other guard, take him into custody first."
Xiao Chen began to walk out, his nape breaking out in gooseflesh. This tall, handsome, sunny man was actually probably not very brave.
"The lighting both upstairs and downstairs is very dim; the security guard seemed to have said not to go where there are no lights. Let’s leave first." Accustomed to adoration, the celebrities could hardly bear the atmosphere of the ward and immediately followed Xiao Chen back the way they came after finding a reason.
"No wonder Tang Yi secretly broadcasted live. If they knew the truth, these people definitely wouldn’t show their real selves." Han Fei stood at the boundary between light and darkness. "Should I tone it down a bit? If I overdo it, the audience might misunderstand me as the real villain."
Han Fei, the first to enter, ended up at the back of the group. By the time they ran back to the main building lobby, the tall security guard had disappeared, and the door leading out was locked.
"We should have listened to Han Fei; then we wouldn’t have let him get away just now." Alin felt it was a pity; they could have gotten off work earlier, but everyone insisted on making it more difficult for themselves.
"What do we do now?" Wu Li looked towards Han Fei, who had approached the table turned over by the tall security guard and was carefully eyeing the curse words on it.
"What are you looking at?" Alin squatted next to Han Fei, suppressing her discomfort, staring at the various curses under the table.
"A curse can reflect a person’s inner resentment. The woman who left these curses said her face was stolen, and she was betrayed by her best friends. She cursed everyone who betrayed her to die in the most tragic way possible." Han Fei moved aside the sticky hair underneath the table as if caressing a woman’s head, making Alin beside him shudder.
"The woman who cast the spell should be the eighth girl in the photo, and the seven of us are the ones who betrayed her."
"This story setup is too cliché; who would believe this stuff?" Xiao Chen laughed nonchalantly, standing amid the light and his companions, fearless.
"Then the photo must be the first medium of the curse; whoever has been in contact with it the longest will probably be the first to have something happen." Han Fei studied the table, not lifting his head.
"Is that so?" Xiao Chen dug out the photo from his backpack, then looked at the others, "How about we take turns keeping it safe?"
No one in the group of actors paid any attention to Xiao Chen, who cleared his throat with a cough, feeling somewhat embarrassed.
"There are eight people in the photo, but none of the scripts I got mentioned anything about the eighth person." Han Fei looked at the others, "How about you?"
"I don’t know that woman’s name, but I know I had a crush on her during school, even wanted to confess my love to her." Xiao Chen recalled the content of the script, "I was in unrequited love, hardly spoke a few words to her; she definitely won’t come after me since she’s dead."
"It seems I had amnesia for a while, and I don’t remember that woman’s name. I just vaguely remember we were college classmates. We lived together sweetly and were very loving." Bai Cha also shared the setting from his script.
"She and I were both members of the opera club, and the script says she was very beautiful. Every time she took the stage, she’d attract everyone’s attention, while I was quite average in comparison." After thinking a moment, Alin added, "I don’t know her name either."
"She was my neighbor, that’s all I know." Wu Li spread his hands.
"I was once the president of the student council; I don’t have much impression of her." Li Huang shook her head, and finally, everyone turned to look at Xia Yilan.
Xia Yilan, who was dressed rather revealingly, seemed very cold, hugging her arms across her chest and looking unwell. In a very low voice, she said, "The script says I was friends with her, and because she was very beautiful, I... later had plastic surgery to look like her."
"You were her closest friend; you must know her name, right?" Li Huang asked sharply.
"I don’t know, I really don’t remember; all that stuff is surely meant to be forgotten." Xia Yilan’s acting suddenly seemed to improve greatly, she shook her head tremblingly, as if her brain was under some unknown assault.
"This script seems to be written based on some real-life events," Li Huang said, looking at Xia Yilan with an insinuating tone.
"The main door is locked; don’t think too much. We must hurry and find a way out." Han Fei stood up, and without warning, asked Xia Yilan, "You had your plastic surgery here, didn’t you?"
Xia Yilan subconsciously nodded her head, then shook her head vigorously after.
"It won’t be possible to escape relying on just one person’s power; we should all put aside our prejudices and cooperate well." Han Fei encouraged morale while calmly thinking.
Among the seven celebrities, only he completely didn’t remember the eighth victim, which was very special.
"Could it be that lady wants me to take them all down? That would be too cruel."
Han Fei was deep in thought when Alin suddenly called everyone over to the corridor.
She found a patrol diary on the ground, seemingly dropped by the tall security guard as he fled. It recorded some strange occurrences the security guard experienced in the abandoned Plastic Surgery Hospital.
