Chapter 582 The Eve of the Coming Storm

Chapter 582: Chapter 582 The Eve of the Coming Storm

Han Fei had just started his shift today when he noticed a problem, he saw bloodstains left under the bed while he was cleaning.

"The blood on Cao Lingling’s back did not soak through the bedding, so the bloodstains under the bed are most likely not hers."

The police inside the room asked Han Fei to step back, they took out professional tools to collect the bloodstains, and then called the doctor over to prepare to review the surveillance footage again.

"Three male employees disappeared mysteriously, the only female witness was frightened out of her wits, and she was even attacked in the hospital; this case is probably more complicated than it appears on the surface." Han Fei consciously followed the police out, despite wearing a nurse’s uniform, he fit in well with the investigation atmosphere of the police.

"The city is getting more and more chaotic lately, with Du Shu being kidnapped, gang conflicts in the Lower District, and now even our company has missing employees," Zhao Qian expressed worriedly, a very bad premonition stirring in him.

"A storm is brewing," Han Fei’s face was also serious, and based on his demeanor at that moment, no one could have guessed that he was actually the root of all the chaos.

Han Fei proposed the kidnapping of Du Shu, incited the gang conflicts, and the disappearance of the employees at the company was orchestrated by his ex-wife.

Han Fei not only knew who the murderer was, but he could also summon the murderer with just a phone call.

And because he knew the true identity of the murderer, Han Fei had the confidence to assist the police.

"Officers, Cao Lingling is the sole survivor at the crime scene. If the real criminal knows she is alive, it’s very likely that they will come after her again. I suggest you strengthen her protection," Han Fei didn’t know how reliable the police were in Fu Sheng’s Memory World, but pulling them to his side was definitely a wise move.

With the police guarding the sick room at night, Han Fei could also be more at ease.

Following the police out, Han Fei appeared very cooperative with the police’s work, temporarily avoiding Li Guo’er and Love, with only Zhao Qian beside him.

Li Guo’er and Love, who stayed in Cao Lingling’s sick room, were not in a hurry; Li Guo’er was planning to stay here to take care of Cao Lingling under the guise of a best friend, while Love, being a VIP client of the Plastic Surgery Hospital, intended to rest and recuperate here for some time.

Both women were not planning to leave, and they had a terrifying intuition that, gradually, more people would gather here.

At ten o’clock in the morning, Han Fei entered the surveillance room of the Plastic Surgery Hospital for the first time with the police.

The hospital’s surveillance room was located on the basement level, three rooms knocked through to form one large space, filled with various monitors and communication equipment, with four security guards taking shifts to ensure there was someone on duty 24 hours a day.

Han Fei looked at the densely packed video windows, each playing a clip representing a surveillance camera.

In addition to places like hallways, emergency exits, and entrances, many intensive care units also had surveillance cameras, allowing one to clearly see every move of the patients in these rooms.

"Officer Fang has already looked through this once this morning, and last night, no one entered Cao Lingling’s room," said a security guard named Shi standing in front of the monitor, skillfully pulling up the surveillance footage: "To ensure the privacy of our VIP customers, we didn’t install cameras inside the VIP rooms, but there is surveillance right outside the room she’s staying in, take a look."

The security guard cooperated with the police and started to play last night’s surveillance footage.

The hospital’s Building One was particularly deserted late at night, not a soul in sight. It wasn’t until fifty-nine minutes past midnight that the nurse, Agou, emerged from the ward. Perhaps because the door wasn’t shut properly, after Agou left, the ward door opened and closed on its own several times.

"Could it be the wind?" Han Fei tried using his Basic-level Ghost Eye Talent, and his eyes became moist. In the hazy mist of tears, he looked again at what lay before him.

In the room, every display screen had turned into distorted human faces, and the whole chamber was bathed in blood-red. Drops of blood were continuously falling from the walls.

The wires connecting to the outside had become thin blood vessels, bulging and contracting as though blood was flowing through them.

Switching off the Master-level Acting in his Brain Sea, Han Fei stood still, the policemen by his side remained unchanged. As he was about to look at the security guard, an arm mottled with corpse spots landed on his shoulder.

As the tears in his eyes gradually dissipated, Han Fei turned to the owner of the arm. The guard surnamed Shi was gripping his shoulder, saying, "We will definitely cooperate with you. We don’t know where Agou has gone, but if you need anything, you can contact Fu Yi directly."

The police did not engage with the security guard. They started to check the other surveillance in the hospital themselves, and Han Fei helped out in the monitoring room.

By noon, the police received an urgent notification and most of them rushed to the suburbs’ Paradise, leaving only Officer Fang and Zhang Yue behind at the hospital.

As soon as Han Fei heard the word "Paradise" in the monitoring room, he immediately had a bad feeling. If the police rescued Du Shu, his own situation would undoubtedly become much worse!

The only consolation for him at the moment was that during their conversation, the police had not confirmed that Du Shu was hiding in Paradise; they only found that a criminal suspect had visited a shop close to Paradise.

The police’s actions added some pressure to Han Fei, and he knew he had to start moving quickly on his end as well.

"My three-day trial period is about to end. Once I’m regularized, I probably won’t have as much freedom as I do now. I might end up like Zhang Zhuangzhuang, starting to forget the past." Han Fei looked to his side, where Zhao Qian was intently watching the surveillance footage, seemingly more serious than the police.

Now in the company, everyone was on edge. Before the sun had set, people had scattered, and even going to the bathroom required teaming up. If things continued like this, the company would surely fail.

"President Zhao Qian, I’m heading out," Han Fei said after memorizing all the surveillance locations. He planned to consult with Zhang Zhuangzhuang to prepare for action that night, sneaking into other wards together quietly.

"Go ahead," Zhao Qian didn’t even lift her head, and said coolly, "If those two give you trouble, you can call me."

Han Fei gave an awkward smile, dashed out of the monitoring room, and contacted Zhang Zhuangzhuang on the walkie-talkie. The latter was waiting in the hospital lobby for takeaway.

Quickly meeting up with Zhang Zhuangzhuang, Han Fei quietly shared his plan. He wanted to leave the hospital at night and circle back from a different direction to meet with Zhang Zhuangzhuang and sneak into Building Five.

At first, Zhang Zhuangzhuang refused, but he couldn’t withstand Han Fei’s persistent persuasion and his resigned-to-fate gaze. Zhang Zhuangzhuang always saw his former self in Han Fei. Both came to the hospital to work as nurses in order to save the people closest to them.

After twenty minutes, Han Fei finally persuaded Zhang Zhuangzhuang, and to his surprise, Zhang Zhuangzhuang’s friendliness towards him increased a bit.

Just as they were about to finalize the details of their action plan, Zhang Zhuangzhuang’s takeaway arrived.

"Let’s go, time to eat, it would be good to get some fresh air outside."

"Why are you ordering takeout today? Don’t you usually eat outside the hospital?" Han Fei followed behind Zhang Zhuangzhuang.

"All the food carts and stalls at the hospital entrance have been driven away, they’re basically forcing us to eat in the cafeteria." Zhang Zhuangzhuang spoke with a hint of mystery, "I suspect they’ve added something to the food, like meat that you’ve never eaten."

"Don’t talk about it, I’ve decided to bring my own lunch from home in the future." Han Fei and Zhang Zhuangzhuang reached the hospital entrance, and when he saw the delivery person, that person also saw him.

"What are you doing here?" The woman from the internet took out the food from the trunk of her electric bike and stood there dumbfounded, "I thought I’d never see you again."

Wearing a nurse’s uniform, Han Fei was equally surprised, "Aren’t you working as a server in a restaurant?"

"Our restaurant also offers delivery service, and the boss, to save money, lets us deliver the food ourselves." The woman from the internet noticed Han Fei’s nurse outfit, her gaze became complex, she had been prepared never to meet Han Fei again, but now they unexpectedly met again amidst so many people, "Is... your health better now?"

"Yeah, it’s not bad." Han Fei and the woman from the internet stood opposite each other, with Zhang Zhuangzhuang twisting his head back and forth in the middle, feeling as if they both weren’t seeing him at all.

After clearing his throat, Zhang Zhuangzhuang signaled the woman to pay attention to him, "Has my meal arrived?"

"I don’t want to bring up the past either, take care of your health, and I hope you can be happy for the rest of your time." The woman gave the meal box to Zhang Zhuangzhuang, and throughout the process, kept communicating with Han Fei, afterwards she rode off on her electric bike.

"Is she your girlfriend?" Zhang Zhuangzhuang held the meal box, "She seems so young."

Han Fei stared at the departing woman from the internet, feeling that all of this was too coincidental; although some misfortunes had been avoided, it seemed like fate was still making an effort to steer everything back onto its original course.

"This hospital seems to be attracting everyone related to Fu Sheng and his son..." Images flashed through Han Fei’s mind, his own horror romance game, with a cover featuring a scumbag laid out on a dinner table, compensating for his sins with his death; in the plastic surgery hospital, there was an operating table named the God of Beauty’s Dining Table, where everyone who wanted beauty would be laid out; and underneath the Starry Sky Art Hotel, there was a large iron table covered with torture devices.

"I must act tonight, and try to create chaos in this hospital during my trial period. It’s strange that the hospital hasn’t had any problems until now. Could Shen Luo’s disappearance have nothing to do with the hospital? If a company hired both me and Shen Luo, it would probably run into trouble."

As Han Fei was pondering, a voice suddenly came from his walkie-talkie, "Fu Yi! Is Fu Yi there? Come to the second-floor reception room immediately! Someone is looking for you! How popular are you anyway?"

"Received, received, I’ll be right there." Han Fei hadn’t yet eaten, he glanced at Zhang Zhuangzhuang, "Are you always this busy?"

"Never before." Zhang Zhuangzhuang took a roujiamo out of the meal box and handed it to Han Fei, "I’ll go with you, have a bite to eat first."

Han Fei finished eating the roujiamo in a few bites, and he and Zhang Zhuangzhuang went to the second floor.

Stepping out of the elevator, Han Fei had not yet got a clear view of the person in front when he heard a crisp voice—"Daddy"!

Shivering, Han Fei’s vision slowly focused. A mother was standing in the hallway, pushing a wheelchair, and a very cute girl was sitting in that wheelchair.

"I knew it couldn’t be a coincidence!" the girl was very happy, a thin blanket covering her legs, her complexion pale and sickly, yet her eyes were exceptionally bright.

"You, you have a daughter? Is the woman downstairs your ex-girlfriend?" Zhang Zhuangzhuang, who had never married, didn’t understand these more complex matters.

Han Fei ignored Zhang Zhuangzhuang and quickly walked over to the girl, squatting next to her wheelchair, "Fu Yi, how did you get here? Didn’t I tell you before to find a professional doctor?"

"The illness progressed too rapidly, and Fu Yi couldn’t walk anymore by last night, she even passed out once," Fu Yi’s mother began to speak, "We went to other hospitals first, but they were all helpless."

"Alright," Han Fei gently stroked Fu Yi’s head. Fu Yi was personally killed by Fu Sheng, and Han Fei decided to make up for the fatherly love she was missing, "I will take good care of you both."

Fu Yi’s mother did not grasp the deeper meaning of these words as she looked at Fu Yi, now dressed in a nurse’s uniform.

Just a few days ago, Fu Yi, dressed in a suit and leather shoes, frequented the big companies in the city center, envied as a white-collar professional.

Yet in just a few days, he had lost his property and job, not only being condemned and cursed by everyone but also starting to do jobs he would never have considered before, all for the sake of living.

"When Fu Yi saw your name, I didn’t think it would be you," said Fu Yi’s mother, turning her head towards the plump nurse, "May I make a request of you?"

"Of course! You and your daughter are esteemed guests specifically mentioned by Doctor Du Shu. She told us that the moment you arrived at the hospital to arrange for you to be placed in her private VIP room. That alone shows how much she values you!" The plump nurse thought that Fu Yi’s mother and daughter were friends of Du Shu. In reality, Du Shu’s arrangement was probably a way for her to let the mother and daughter see Fu Yi being toyed with by herself.

"We can do without the private VIP room," Fu Yi’s mother disliked taking advantage of others, "I only have one request now. I hope Fu Yi can come and personally care for my child. I don’t actually think this is the best option, but the child wants her father."

Hearing what her mother said, Fu Yi was the happiest, her face full of expectancy as she looked towards the plump nurse.

"Do you also want him to come as a personal nurse?" The plump nurse showed a wry smile. Initially, she merely thought this man was very charming, but she didn’t expect him to be so popular.

"Is that not possible?"

"You are friends of Doctor Du, and you have the highest priority," the plump nurse communicated a few words with others on the walkie-talkie before turning to Fu Yi’s mother, "A personal nurse might be impossible, but I will have him come over more often to help. Additionally, we will transfer more nurses from other wards over here."

"No need for others, just dad!" Fu Yi’s eyes were only on Han Fei, unable to forget the image of him rescuing her.

Han Fei squatted beside the wheelchair, hearing Fu Yi obediently calling him dad, his hand subconsciously touched his chest.

"The Curse hasn’t erupted? Could it be that the Blood-colored Paperman was taken aback?"

Letting out a soft sigh, Han Fei knew this was just the beginning. After all, he already had three children now, and each of those three children had different mothers.
