Chapter 570: The New Nurse is Named Fu Yi

Chapter 570: Chapter 570: The New Nurse is Named Fu Yi

"Doing strange things?" Han Fei was quite speechless, to think he was being lectured by a high school student who talks to the air every day.

"Also, can you please turn off that music? It’s scaring the neighbors." After finishing his sentence, Fu Sheng closed the bedroom door and muttered to himself as he headed back to bed, "Ah, his singing scares even the ghosts away, how does he do it?"

Hearing Fu Sheng’s complaints, Han Fei always felt that the boy worried himself sick over this family.

In fact, in the world of Ghost and Monster that Han Fei couldn’t see clearly, Fu Sheng might indeed have shielded the family from many disasters.

"If it weren’t for the fact that I need you to say a few good words when your mother comes over, I would definitely have a serious talk with you tonight."

Sitting back at his computer, Han Fei began crafting his resume, he was going to apply for a job at the Plastic Surgery Hospital tomorrow.

"I hope everything goes smoothly."

At 6:30 in the morning, Han Fei was sound asleep at his computer desk when suddenly there was a knock on the door.

Han Fei immediately sat up, and his wife hurried out of the bedroom as well.

"Don’t rush, I’ll go open the door."

Peering through the peephole, Han Fei saw two police officers standing at his doorstep.

Observing the expressions and postures of the two officers, Han Fei’s heart gradually settled down, the police probably weren’t there to arrest him, and the incident involving Du Shu’s kidnapping hadn’t been exposed.

Rubbing his eyes and with the look of someone who just woke up, Han Fei opened the door.

Upon seeing the officers outside, he displayed just the right amount of surprise on his face.

"You must be Fu Yi? We have a few questions we’d like to ask you."

"Sure, please come in."

Seeing the police, his wife was completely puzzled.

"You don’t have to be nervous," one of the officers said, glancing at the clutter on the floor yet to be cleared up. "According to our investigation, you just moved in yesterday, right?"

"Yes."

"Why did you hurry here so quickly? Was there something wrong with the house you lived in before?" the police officer asked casually.

"No problem at all! That property was in the city center, prime real estate. If it hadn’t been for some urgent financial matters, we wouldn’t have sold it," Han Fei said, his face full of regret that didn’t seem feigned at all.

"Urgent matters?"

"Nothing to be proud of," Han Fei whispered the situation involving Fu Yi and her daughter Fu Yi.

"Selling the house is understandable, but why did you rush to move out that very afternoon?" The police felt this point was very suspicious.

"We didn’t want to either!" Han Fei sighed. "At that time, we urgently needed the money, so we sold it to a former coworker at a price below market value. Then that heartless guy turned on us and forced us to move out within five hours. We were at the housing authority; that guy was totally unreasonable!"

The two police officers looked at Han Fei for a long time. "Actually, we came over today mainly to tell you something, Zhang Yu has gone missing. This morning, when the neighbors called the police, they found only an unconscious coworker in his house."

"Gone missing?" Han Fei "obviously" heard this for the first time, and his astounded tone would not make anyone doubt him.

"He was partying with coworkers last night, and after everyone left at Midnight, Zhang Yu mysteriously disappeared," the police explained. "According to information provided by the neighbors, Zhang Yu had been screaming for mercy before his disappearance and even called out your name."

"But the problem is, I really wasn’t there last night!"

"We saw the surveillance footage, you indeed have an alibi, so this time we mainly came to see if you could provide any valuable clues," the two officers said kindly.

Han Fei thought hard for a long time and eventually shook his head.

"Are you sure? Zhang Yu isn’t the first person from your company to go missing. Since the day before your incident, there have already been two male employees from your company who have gone missing. We now suspect this to be a malicious case specifically targeting your company."

"I really didn’t know that, I’ve been busy trying to raise money recently."

The police asked many more questions, but in the end, they didn’t get any useful information from Han Fei.

"Thank you for your cooperation, for the next while, it would be best if you don’t travel far, also for your own safety," they said.

"Certainly, of course."

After sending off the police, a new day began for Han Fei’s family.

His wife went to cook, while Han Fei and the two children sat at the table.

Fu Sheng was reading a book with his head down, and Han Fei, dressed neatly, was organizing his resume.

The job he was applying for was that of a nurse, a profession that seems like anyone could do, but actually, high-level nurses need to master many things.

Basic life care services are just the beginning, there’s also ICU and emergency patient supportive care, psychological counseling, even laundry and cooking, nutritional planning, and so forth are required.

Han Fei’s biggest problem wasn’t with skills, but that his body was constantly weakening. If he really couldn’t get hired as a nurse, then his only option would be to enter the hospital as a patient.

After breakfast, Fu Sheng, carrying his backpack, was the first to leave the house.

Han Fei gathered his documents, checked his appearance thoroughly in the mirror, then prepared to leave.

"Don’t rush the job search; take it slow," his wife said. Even though she knew Han Fei was not Fu Yi, she still acted the same as before in front of their child.

"Don’t worry," Han Fei said with a smile as he left home. The place he rented now was very close to Fu Sheng’s school, just a ten-minute walk away.

"I wonder if Fu Sheng went to school today."

Han Fei looked towards the school’s main entrance but didn’t see Fu Sheng.

"Forget it, let’s not worry about him for now."

Arriving at the nearest bus stop, Han Fei studied the route map and then crossed the street to catch the bus.

After Han Fei had left on the bus, Fu Sheng came out of a nearby shop holding a can of cat food, staring in the direction Han Fei had gone, a trace of confusion in his eyes.

Fu Yi was a graduate of a prestigious university and had some fame in the gaming industry. Logically, if he wanted a job, even if it wasn’t related to gaming, it should be in the internet sector, and those companies were all in the city center. However, Han Fei took a bus to the suburbs.

"He’s not going job hunting?"

Fu Sheng put the cat food into his backpack, feeling conflicted for quite a while, then took a taxi and followed the bus that Han Fei was on.

The changes that had recently happened to Fu Yi were too drastic, and Fu Sheng was curious about what the underlying reasons were.

Not long after departing, the bus arrived at Perfect Plastic Surgery Hospital. Han Fei walked up to the hospital’s side entrance with his resume and, after informing the security guard of his intentions, was met with strange looks.

"Can you let me in? I saw your recruitment information online."

"This is so bizarre. Including you, seven people have come to apply for the nursing job today."

The security guard led Han Fei through the side entrance, and not far into the hospital, Han Fei ran into a familiar figure.

The bald player known as Prisoner was gathered with two others, forming a small group.

Prisoner appeared wary when he saw Han Fei approaching, unable to figure out Han Fei’s true situation.

"Over here! Have any of you worked as a nurse before?" A middle-aged, chubby nurse and an old man in black clothes approached the group.

"I have," Han Fei and another applicant raised their hands, while the three players stood back, not saying a word.

"Do you have a nursing license?" The plump nurse approached Han Fei first—seeing him as Fu Yi, who was admittedly quite handsome as the worst of the womanizers.

"I can’t find my license, but you can test me on any questions," Han Fei replied, having mastered the profession overnight with his photographic memory.

"So confident?" The nurse asked a few casual questions, which Han Fei answered smoothly.

"Not bad; it seems you have plenty of experience. However, physical strength is also essential for nursing, as some patients cannot turn over by themselves and require a nurse to help lift them." The nurse spread her arms wide. "Try to lift me onto that bed over there."

Han Fei, with physical strength at thirty-two points, seemingly struggled a bit, but ultimately succeeded.

"Director Li, what do you think? He’s a little older, but he excels in every aspect," said the nurse, who clearly favored Han Fei, though the final decision rested with the old man in black.

After scrutinizing Han Fei, the old man nodded, "Let’s assign him to Building One. He should be quite popular with special customers."

Building One catered to VIP clients. Du Shu had always rested in Building One, so assigning Han Fei there suggested a real vote of confidence, hoping he would work well there.

However, Han Fei was more interested in the other buildings and inwardly regretted being too outstanding.

Perfect Plastic Surgery Hospital had a substantial demand for nurses. Han Fei thought the job hunt would be challenging, but it concluded in just half an hour.

All eight applicants were successful. The hospital seemed to accept anyone, though the nurses were assigned to different locations.

Han Fei was sent to Building One, another experienced nurse to Building Two, and the remaining five to Building Four.

Those assigned to Building Four had to sign a separate night shift contract, only leaving once every three days and living inside the hospital.

"I’ll take you inside for a look around," the nurse said as she led Han Fei away. The rest were about to follow when the man in black stopped them with a gesture.

"Aren’t we going with him?" The two players whom Han Fei had never seen before were puzzled by the NPC’s apparent favoritism.

"I’ll be responsible for you," the old man indicated for the others to follow him deeper into the hospital through a side door, taking a different path than Han Fei. "Our hospital is not only the best plastic surgery hospital but also the best in psychological rehabilitation. It can not only make a person’s body younger and more beautiful but also rejuvenate a weary soul. You have a lot to learn..."

As the group departed, Han Fei also glanced back and quietly asked the nurse, "Do nurses in Building One not mix with those from the other buildings?"

"You’re in luck," the nurse didn’t elaborate, only wearing a somewhat frightening smile, "You’re not like them; you’re a real nurse and won’t have to work night shifts."

"A real nurse? No night shifts?"

"You might not understand what the night shift means now, but you’ll find out soon enough," the nurse’s face seemed to sag as if laughing too hard would cause it to collapse.

Han Fei respectfully nodded, opening his Attribute Panel to check his personal record, which now showed an entry for starting work at Perfect Plastic Surgery Hospital.

The plump nurse may not yet grasp the significance of hiring Han Fei, but she would soon realize just how wildly mistaken she had been.
