Chapter 561: The Worst Day of My Life?

Chapter 561: Chapter 561: The Worst Day of My Life?

Han Fei watched his wife turn her back to him and fall asleep, always feeling that the gentle and virtuous woman before him had discovered something.

His wife was the person most deeply hurt by Fu Yi. She had known all along about Fu Yi’s affairs, but it wasn’t until the very end that she fetched a knife from the kitchen. She had always been giving Fu Yi a chance, trying her best to keep the family together.

It wasn’t that she hadn’t noticed; she simply hadn’t said anything.

After sitting for a while, Han Fei slowly lay down. There was a large gap between him and his wife, and half of his body was exposed outside the blanket.

"Still doesn’t feel quite right."

Gazing blankly at the ceiling, sleepiness gradually overtook him, and Han Fei tried to close his eyes. But before long, he sat up again.

"Can’t sleep! The moment I close my eyes, I feel like a circle of blood-colored papermen are dancing around me!"

This wasn’t like sleeping on a mattress; it was more like sleeping on the edge of a row of dinner knives!

Han Fei got up slowly, tucked the edge of the blanket around his wife, picked up an outer garment, and walked out of the bedroom.

After he left, his wife, who had been turned away from him, slowly curled up and whispered softly, "It wasn’t him..."

Covered with clothes, Han Fei lay on the sofa outside: "This Shrine Random Task has also taught me a lot of things, like after getting married, you must buy a big sofa—there’s always an occasion to use it."

Lying alone on the sofa, Han Fei actually had a sound sleep and soon drifted off.

He didn’t dream at all throughout the night until the alarm clock sounded and Han Fei woke up, rubbing his eyes, only to find an extra thin quilt on him.

As the sunlight shone into the room, Han Fei sat up on the sofa, stretching his stiff body. He looked towards the kitchen where his wife was making breakfast.

After folding the thin quilt and brushing his teeth and washing his face, Han Fei looked at himself in the mirror.

Successful career, extraordinary charisma, fit for both the hall and the kitchen, with master-level acting skills, a devilish singing voice, and understanding both criminal detection and destruction of evidence—such a versatile good man was no wonder highly compatible with the Pretty Man profession.

"What a pity, I, Han Fei, am not the type who likes to live off women."

Wiping the water droplets off the mirror, Han Fei went to the dining table and started eating the breakfast his wife had prepared.

"Does it taste good?"

"Delicious, really delicious."

Before long, Fu Sheng also came downstairs with his backpack. As he passed by Han Fei, he suddenly froze, staring fixedly behind Han Fei: "That faceless woman who was always following you is gone."

"Don’t talk about such scary things early in the morning." His wife prepared a lunch box for Fu Sheng.

He was actually quite pleased to hear Fu Sheng say that: "Maybe she went to play with someone else."

After breakfast, Han Fei grabbed his briefcase and left home. After leaving the neighborhood, the smile on his face slowly faded away.

He had already discussed matters with Fu Yi’s mother, who probably wouldn’t cause trouble at the company. But Du Shu certainly wouldn’t let things rest easily.

That rich woman’s desire for control was too strong; disobedient toys would all be smashed to pieces by her.

Taking the bus to the company, Han Fei got off and immediately sensed something was amiss.

There were many pedestrians standing on the road in front of the company’s building, and he could faintly hear a noisy buzz of conversation.

"What’s going on?"

"I heard that a company executive had an affair, and after the mistress got pregnant, he dumped her."

"But what I heard is that the executive’s legitimate wife had a deformed child, and the executive immediately divorced and abandoned the mother and child, then found a younger lover."

"I’ve heard that the executive was also involved with his superior; he has no real skills and relies solely on that to climb the ranks."

With a grim face, Han Fei walked past the onlookers. He heard the sound coming from loudspeakers, a voice repeatedly recounting how Fu Yi abandoned the mother and daughter, with a pitiable weeping tone accusing Fu Yi.

Looking towards the source of the sound, Han Fei saw a modified van parked at the entrance of the company building. Several loudspeakers were installed on the roof of the van, and the shrill voice was emanating from there.

The security guards were negotiating with the owner of the van, and several men inside the vehicle were ignoring the security guards, refusing to budge.

Not far from the van, there was a woman dressed in ragged clothes who made herself look very pitiable as she hung a giant white cloth bearing Fu Yi’s photo on the company’s door.

Most of the content on the white cloth spoke of Fu Yi’s tragedy, suffering from illness at a young age.

However, the photo must have been taken secretly; Fu Yi in the picture was completely unaware of being photographed, not looking at the camera and simply sitting in a wheelchair with her head lowered.

Han Fei could tolerate many things, but his expression turned somewhat frightening after he saw Fu Yi’s photo being displayed so recklessly.

"Fu Yi is a damn beast, and it’s fine to swear at him however you please, but why do you have to expose a seriously ill child like this?"

Han Fei walked across the open space in front of the company building, with colleagues behind each window watching him.

After crossing the open area, Han Fei arrived in front of the giant white cloth. He wanted to go further but was stopped by the woman beside him.

The raggedly dressed woman’s voice was very sharp, "What do you want to do!"

"You are not the child’s mother, and none of you people are her relatives. What right do you have to display her photo here!"

Han Fei reached out to tear down the white cloth, and the woman frantically tried to stop him as several men sitting in the van also got out of the vehicle.

"Isn’t this Fu Yi? The very man who abandoned his wife! You do have some looks; no wonder your daughter is so pretty." These burly men unscrupulously made lewd comments, constantly provoking Han Fei’s nerves.

"Don’t let him go! He’s the one who abandoned the child!" The woman in ragged clothes clung to Han Fei’s suit, speaking skilfully as if she were the mother of the child.

The people around, unaware of the truth, hurled abuse at the well-dressed Han Fei, calling him a beast in human clothing, and some even wanted to come forward and beat him up.

"I’ll say it again; you can curse at me all you want, just don’t hang the child’s photo and information out here. All the faults were committed by Fu Yi." Han Fei tore off the white cloth and flung the woman aside.

He had hardly used any force, yet the woman threw herself against the glass. Although she didn’t break the glass, she raised a ruckus nonetheless.

"How outrageous! In broad daylight, you dare to hit someone like this. I can’t even imagine how you treat your family at home!" The several men who came from the van blocked Han Fei at the company’s entrance, determined to blow the whole thing out of proportion.

Han Fei’s face turned dark while the loudspeaker repeatedly announced Fu Yi’s abandonment of his family. The onlookers uttered all sorts of filthy words. Waves of sound poured into his ears, and no matter which direction he looked, he saw eyes filled with disgust.

He was surrounded by anger and scolding from all sides, even his former colleagues looked at him with contempt.

Han Fei felt as if a giant hand was squeezing him, leaving him breathless.

Suddenly, a pang of pain struck his nostrils, and his brain felt woozy; he nearly collapsed to the ground.

Clenching his fist, Han Fei propped himself up and walked toward the van, which also had his daughter’s photo hanging on it.

"Still want to leave?" Several men surrounded Han Fei, watching his expression with amusement.

"Move aside." A cold voice came from Han Fei’s mouth. At the same time, a hysterical laugh echoed from the deepest part of his mind as uncontrolled murderous intent faintly surfaced in his eyes.

"What if we don’t move? What can you do to us? How can you possibly deal with us!" The men blocked Han Fei’s path while the woman in ragged clothes screamed and cried, not shedding a single tear yet clutching her head as if she couldn’t live much longer.

The onlookers’ anger was also ignited as they moved toward the open space in front of the company building, seemingly intent on trapping Han Fei.

Just as a large crowd of onlookers was preparing to enter the open space in front of the company, the honking of a sedan suddenly drowned out all the noisy clamor, followed by exclamations from afar!

"Watch out!"

"Move aside!"

Almost in the blink of an eye, a sedan came speeding into view, crashing hard into the van!

The tremendous sound of the collision terrified everyone; the sedan sent the van crashing through the company’s front gate!

The fallen loudspeaker lay silent on the ground, and the initially vocal onlookers were now silent, shocked by the scene.

The deformed car door was kicked open, and a sweet-looking woman with a bleeding arm emerged from it. She stepped on the glass fragments that littered the ground and glanced at Han Fei.

"Team leader, good morning."

With the accident scene, the shattered glass all around, Han Fei felt as if he was taken back to the evening just a few days ago, when he had desperately rescued Li Guo’er.

"You go upstairs first, I can’t find my glasses, I need to look for my glasses." Li Guo’er looked at Han Fei with a sweet smile, "I only came over after they all got out of the car."
