Chapter 545: Chapter 545: The Protagonist of The Quintessential Quintuplets (He’s Back)
"The model’s name is Love?" Han Fei glanced at the chainsaw in the model’s hand. With the experience of being hunted in Deep World for many years, he immediately recognized it as the real deal, "Such sharp Love."
Li Guo’er tilted her head and sized up Han Fei. Everyone in the company focused on the model’s physique and face, but only Han Fei was staring at the chainsaw in the model’s hand. Knowing Fu Yi as she did, she quickly understood something and her smile became even sweeter, "Group Leader, I thought of a new game ending. Want to hear it?"
"Little Li, your work attitude is really worth learning from by everyone, but don’t work too hard," Han Fei had just shifted his gaze from the model when he saw Li Guo’er’s dangerous smile and without another word, turned his head and walked towards the office.
The two returned to the office together, and Li Guo’er quickly got into work mode. She put on her glasses and started to draw the new ending, her sweet appearance concealing her increasingly excited eyes.
Han Fei sneakily glanced at Li Guo’er, then opened Plants vs. Zombies. Having played it a lot, he felt the zombies were even cuter than people.
"You always have to be careful, as not only zombies but also Love can crack open my skull."
He had just picked his plants, and before a big wave of zombies appeared, there were noisy footsteps in the corridor outside. His colleagues were leaving the meeting hall and crowding towards his office.
Minimizing the game and opening the plan he had been working on for three days, Han Fei looked serious, with furrowed brows, as if pondering something very important.
"Fu Yi? You’re actually here?" Zhao Qian knocked on the door; she and Zhang Yu stood at the entrance of the office, "We’re filming a promotional video for Eternal Life today, and we’ve rented the venue for the whole day. We might as well shoot the game you’re working on too. Horror romance cultivation, I personally have high expectations for you guys."
"Fu Yi, you owe me a big favor. If it wasn’t for us spending a lot of money to bring in Love, for your little 18+ game to dream of getting Love for the shoot is simply a fantasy," Zhang Yu was quite dissatisfied with Fu Yi. He had used a lot of resources to sign a contract with the most famous model in the industry, and the model had agreed to help Fu Yi with the shoot for free.
He looked jealously at Han Fei, only to unexpectedly find Han Fei looking back at him with a chilling face, as if his eyes were saying, was it you who brought the Fierce Ghost to my place?
"After getting a bargain, still playing coy," Zhang Yu avoided Han Fei’s gaze.
"You pack up the materials and come with us. Love is very interested in the game you’re working on and has agreed to help you shoot the promotional photos for free, without any additional charges," Zhao Qian said without giving Han Fei any chance to refuse and then left.
"Group Leader, let me go with you," Li Guo’er was the first to stand up, fearing that Han Fei would be killed by someone else, "Eternal Life was rated as an S-level project by the company, while our game is just a very marginal B-level project. Normally, we would have no chance to hire a top model for promotion. This opportunity is precious."
Looking at his team members’ expectant eyes, Han Fei nodded, "Alright, I’ll go take a look."
"I’ve got everything ready, we only need to shoot a dynamic cover," Li Guo’er took out the game cover she had drawn, with a man resembling Han Fei to a high degree, fixed to a dining table, clothes torn, wounded, with his eyes covered. Around him sat seven women holding various evil weapons, each with completely different expressions and personalities.
"Are you sure you want to shoot this?" Han Fei’s mouth twitched slightly. As a professional actor, he had never shot anything so thrilling.
"Horror, romance, cultivation, gourmet, this picture has all the elements you want," Li Guo’er put the game cover and the related documents into her bag, appearing like Han Fei’s most attentive assistant.
"Then let’s shoot it," Han Fei turned off the game and went downstairs with Li Guo’er.
A minibus from the crew was parked outside the company building, with Zhao Qian personally leading the team, which showed how much importance she attached to the promotional video shoot.
After everyone else had boarded the bus, Han Fei and Li Guo’er reluctantly made their way over.
"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" Zhang Yu walked over to Love very gentlemanly, glancing at the empty seat, "I’d like to discuss some background of the game and some action details with you again."
"Sorry, this seat is taken." Love’s voice was very special, androgynous, with a hint of raspiness, yet imbued with an ineffable allure.
Zhang Yu’s gaze involuntarily swept over Love’s simple attire, and with an embarrassed smile, he then looked for a seat beside Zhao Qian.
Zhao Qian was a company leader, and ordinary employees probably didn’t want to sit next to her because they felt uncomfortable.
As Zhang Yu approached Zhao Qian, she hadn’t yet reached her when Zhao Qian spotted Li Guo’er, who had boarded the car with Han Fei. A flicker of displeasure crossed her eyes, and she enthusiastically stood up, pulled Li Guo’er to her side, and began to inquire about work matters.
The vehicle had already started, but Han Fei and Zhang Yu had not yet taken their seats. Originally, there was just enough seating, but then Zhao Qian informed Han Fei at the last minute that he was also needed there.
"You two just find a spot to squeeze in, don’t stand in the aisle," the driver urged.
Han Fei was somewhat helpless as he slowly made his way to Love, the only vacant seat in the car.
"May I sit here?"
"Of course," Love leaned against the seat, touching her nails that were a bright red like blood: "Your eyes are still so beautiful, as if they hold a light within them."
"There might be some misunderstandings between us."
"All wonderful encounters start with misunderstandings," Love turned to look at Han Fei as if she wanted to etch his face in her memory.
"The kind that are true misunderstandings." Han Fei had seen the chat history between Fu Yi and Love; the past two weeks’ messages were fairly normal, but the messages from before two weeks ago had been deleted by Fu Yi.
He didn’t know what Fu Yi had discussed with Love, but he felt it must have been something particularly unsavory for Fu Yi to delete even the messages on a secondary account.
While Han Fei was deep in thought, Love stared at him, making him feel anxious and pressured to look away.
Seeing Han Fei acting as if he didn’t recognize her at all, the look in Love’s eyes gradually changed, and thin lines of blood surfaced from the depths of her eyes: "Fu Yi, you can’t always avoid the end by avoiding every beginning, right?"
Han Fei truly did not know what Fu Yi had said to Love, and he lowered his voice, "Let’s find a chance to talk in private."
After that, Han Fei no longer engaged with Love. He looked straight ahead and saw Zhang Yu, who was still standing foolishly in the middle of the aisle.
"What are you doing standing there? Just find a spot to sit," he said.
Hearing Han Fei’s puzzled voice, Zhang Yu clenched his fists. The model was his hire, and he had arranged the vehicle. He felt like he had been running around, and now he had gone from being the bridegroom to the best man.
"Group Leader Zhang, let’s squeeze together," a crew member responsible for filming made some room, and the three squeezed together.
"Bear with it, we’re about to take off. That hotel is not far from here, it’s only a forty-minute drive," said the driver as he started the van, indifferent to whether Zhang Yu was comfortable or not.
"Hotel? You chose a hotel as the filming location?" Han Fei was puzzled. "Eternal Life" was a combat game set in the future; it seemed to have no connection to a hotel.
"Eternal Life" depicts a dismal future, where the immortal inhabitants live within the Smart District, while the Rebels, Refugees, and Rebel Army reside in the ruins outside the city. The Starry Sky Art Hotel we’re going to was abandoned five years ago. It used to be resplendent and splendid, but now only ruins remain, which perfectly fits our requirements," a crew member explained: "The hotel was also a landmark building here, but then something happened, and since then, no one dares to stay there anymore."
"Did something particularly special happen at the hotel?"
"It’s nothing good; better not to pry," said the crew member, no longer elaborating, so Han Fei took out Fu Yi’s phone and started searching.
As soon as he entered the words "Starry Sky Art Hotel," a plethora of information popped up.
"Was it the devil’s arrival, or a descent into madness? Twenty-one lives embedded in concrete, constructing the Satan Wall, and the hotel owner remains unindicted to this day."
"Located near Perfect Plastic Surgery Hospital, Starry Sky Art Hotel provides accommodation, dining, and leisure services all year round for the ’Rich People’ who come from other places for plastic surgery. No one knew that such terrifying things were hidden within this structure, which is closest to beauty and perfection."
"The unsolved case continues, hotel service staff die mysteriously, and a watchman went insane from fear, leaving a dying declaration that he saw dead people searching for their own faces."
"Is it a plastic surgery hospital, or a homicidal hospital? Is there some connection between Perfect Plastic Surgery and Starry Sky Art Hotel?"
"Haunted house trial sleep, five hundred per night, come if you dare."
Looking at the information on his phone, Han Fei recalled many things.
There was a hotel near the plastic surgery hospital built by Eternal Life Pharmaceutical, and all this seemed to match the memories from Fu Sheng’s student days. Now Han Fei was very curious as to why Fu Sheng had such a deep impression of that hospital, and what exactly had he encountered within the Plastic Surgery Hospital?
Having missed the morning rush hour, the minibus took only half an hour to reach the destination, far from the city center and looking somewhat desolate.
"It’s troublesome to turn around any further, just walk straight along this road, and a turn will take you there." The driver stopped moving forward, opened the window, and lit a cigarette as if trying to ward off the chill within him.
"Get ready to get off the bus and gather your personal belongings. Let’s meet under the pine tree on the left." Zhang Yu clapped his hands and was the first to get off.
Han Fei wanted to get rid of Love as soon as possible, so he hurried off the bus and found a quiet corner to stay in, quietly surveying his surroundings.
Starry Sky Art Hotel and Perfect Plastic Surgery Hospital were separated by just a street, almost no one came to this side, the gate had a seal on it, and there were police cordon lines that had not been removed.
The high-end glass doors’ sensor devices were broken, and someone had written phrases like "return my family’s life" with paint on them. Looking inside through the glass doors, everything was in disarray, the floors were completely rotten, and there was almost no intact furniture.
"We’ve already communicated with the local management personnel, you’re free to film until nightfall, but you can’t go to areas above the fourth floor." Zhang Yu held a phone, seemingly on a call, and after a moment, a young man in a simple uniform came out of the security booth and opened the side door of the hotel for the film crew.
"This is Wu Shan, one of the Assistant Police in the nearby district. If you find something in the hotel or come across something unclear, you can come to him."
After Zhang Yu spoke, Wu Shan stepped forward to the group: "I’m specifically in charge of guarding this building, just call me Little Shan."
The young man smiled and glanced over the crowd, but when he saw a certain person, his smile instantly froze.
He looked back and forth at that person, his eyes filled with surprise, and involuntarily muttered a name, "Han Fei? The actor?"
At that moment, Han Fei was also staring at Wu Shan; he could feel that Wu Shan was different from the people in Shrine Memory World. "Did I run into another player? He knows to be an Assistant Police, to cling to the police’s coattails. This guy is pretty smart."
The two unspokenly understood each other, with neither revealing the other’s identity.
"We have a lot of shooting tasks today, so let’s get started." Zhang Yu led the way into the hotel and began coordinating with the film crew, setting up the scene.
"Where are the models? I need a Props Master too, come help Fu Yi with the promotional photos." Setting up the scene and arranging the camera positions would take some time, so Zhao Qian called over the camera crew, Props Master, and Love to Han Fei’s side. "Eternal Life will probably take an hour to get ready, so you guys go ahead and shoot first."
"President Zhao Qian, our requirements are quite simple," Li Guo’er pulled out the effect picture from the bag: "A dining table large enough and various types of Evil Weapons, and we need at least seven models with distinctive personalities."
"Seven? Then let’s shoot the scene first, and I’ll find models to put into a picture for you later." Zhao Qian waved over to Wu Shan, "Officer Wu Shan, do you know where in this building we can find a huge dining table and a lot of Evil Weapons?"
"I’m just an ordinary Assistant Police, you can call me Little Shan." Officer Wu Shan said with a timid smile, "There is a huge round dining table on the second floor banquet hall that can accommodate twenty-five people at the same time."
"Twenty-five? That’s too big, is there a smaller one?"
"There’s also a dining table in the basement, surrounded by weapons as well, but..." Officer Wu Shan hesitated, "We suspect that table was used by the criminals before, and it still has some torture instruments and ropes for tying people up on it."
"That’s the one," Zhao Qian, Li Guo’er, and Love said in unison, and Officer Wu Shan was taken aback.
"Okay, I’ll take you there." Officer Wu Shan took out the keys. As he passed by Han Fei, he looked at him with curiosity, not understanding why Han Fei was with three beauties, each with a distinct aura.
Normally, players entering the Hidden Map would first have to solve the survival issue. They usually choose a profession to make a living and then explore slowly. Now, Officer Wu Shan was very curious about what Han Fei’s profession was.
Opening the door to the basement, the air was musty and damp, and it felt very uncomfortable to walk inside.
"This is the place."
Officer Wu Shan led everyone to the room at the deepest end of the basement corridor. The room was lavishly decorated, with genuine leather sofas and walls full of paintings, and art pieces were scattered everywhere.
But in the center of such an art-filled luxurious room, there stood a huge table that seemed to be stained red with blood.
The table itself was custom-made, with ten chairs on either side, and there were knives, forks, and some broken instruments of torture that had not been put away.
"Not bad, just like the dining table I imagined," Li Guo’er said as she stroked the red tabletop, her expression somewhat obsessed, her eyes behind the glasses flashing with a dangerous light. "Group Leader, come on! Lie down and try it."
Looking at the ten chairs beside the table, Han Fei had a vague feeling that this might be some sort of bad omen, as if he could see ten graceful figures sitting in the chairs.
"Where’s the Props Master? Get Fu Yi changed," Zhao Qian tapped the tabletop. She too was very pleased with this table and its atmosphere, the corners of her mouth curling into a slight smile.
Removing his suit and undoing the top button of his shirt, Han Fei changed into a pure white shirt provided by the props room.
The white shirt and the blood-red tabletop created a stark contrast, and paired with Han Fei’s handsome appearance, it was indeed very impactful.
"In the painting, he is imprisoned, he is the food put on the dining table, it’s a bit too neat and clean," Love said as she came over with an electric saw in one hand. She grabbed the shirt Han Fei had just put on and forcefully tore it.
The buttons rolled on the tabletop, and Han Fei was stunned.
"Come, blindfold your eyes, wrap chains around your arms and lower legs, and just lie down here." The Props Master advised Han Fei to climb onto the dining table. "Have you ever acted? First, make a face of panic, yes, then add a bit of struggle and helplessness, perfect! That’s the expression!"
Looking at Han Fei lying on the dining table, Officer Wu Shan’s eyes widened in surprise. He knew Han Fei was an actor, but he didn’t expect Han Fei to take on such a special profession in the game.
"You’ve really fallen on hard times, Han Fei."
The roar of the electric saw suddenly filled the room, and Love, with a devilish figure and angelic face, nearly six feet tall, approached the dining table. She had many blood vessels in her eyes, kept biting her lip, and her pupils reflected Han Fei’s current appearance. "Who would have thought that even the coldest Love could have the most fervent of endings."
Love suddenly quickened her pace, raising the electric saw in her hand.
