Chapter 424: The Most Beautiful Wedding Dress

Chapter 424: Chapter 424: The Most Beautiful Wedding Dress

In the previous Building Chief’s map, only a few buildings were marked with question marks. Han Fei still didn’t understand what those marks meant, as he had never entered such buildings before.

"I know the mall he mentioned." The Mirror God, lying on the mirror, suddenly spoke up. The fog was too thick, making it hard for him to see Han Fei’s position clearly. "A long time ago, the owner of that mall was a special ghost who retained his sanity and all the memories from before his death. In the Deep World, he provided refuge for helpless ghosts and monsters and offered protection to wandering souls."

"Providing protection for ghosts and monsters?"

"Yes, before I met you, I thought he was the biggest fool in this dark night, doing something that simply couldn’t end well." The Mirror God’s words were a bit off, as if he was mocking himself, "The intersection of Fushou Road and Happiness Street is a convergence point for several special areas and belongs to a no-man’s land. Ghosts and monsters escaping from other areas tend to gather there, taken in by the mall owner. Before the Unspeakable appeared in other areas, the vicinity of the mall was relatively safe because no Hatred could slaughter the mall without alarming the Hatreds from other areas."

"At first, the mall owner did indeed think so, but later he realized he had underestimated the evil in human nature. His greatest enemies were not the ghosts from other areas, but those he had sheltered."

"Humans have good and bad sides, and the same is true after they die. Some souls are saturated with evil, from head to toe, with malice hidden even in their hair."

The Mirror God’s words carried a hint of regret, and deep in his eyes, there was a black fire burning. Unfortunately, no matter what he became, he could never leave the mirror.

"The mall owner was attacked by the ghosts he sheltered. That night, he lost all his goods and nearly had his soul completely scattered."

No one interrupted the Mirror God as everyone waited for him to continue. However, he seemed to realize something and did not continue the topic.

"If you want to go there, I can lead the way, but I think it’s best you don’t enter that mall. The goods it now sells are no longer normal items. They openly price souls, flesh, and blood, and display memories and organs on the shelves. You will see the cruelest truths of this dark night there."

The Death Building Area is the newbie zone in "Perfect Life," and leaving the Death Building Area is what it takes to see the real Deep World.

"No worries, I am a convenience store owner after all. This trip might as well be a chance to learn from peers about how to expand and succeed, and maybe I can stock up on some goods while I’m there." Han Fei couldn’t contact his neighbor who had gone out, giving him a necessary reason to visit.

"I know I can’t stop you." The Mirror God traced a symbol on the mirror surface as if it was a human head held in a hand, "As long as you see someone with a similar pattern on their body, stay away from them immediately. They are the madmen who originally attacked the mall owner. Their souls are filled with malice, and they take pleasure in killing. Each time they kill a Grudge, they engrave a head onto their own soul, imprisoning the memory of that Grudge in their bodies. Most of them lack reason and don’t think; they only know pleasure from killing. But among them are ten exceptions known as ’Ten Fingers,’ they are cunning and devious, hiding in the mall, calling themselves ’Ten Fingers.’"

"Is there Hatred among these ten fingers?" Han Fei was more curious about this.

"I only know that a decade ago, there was no Hatred among them. But now, I suspect that at least one of them has transformed into Hatred." The Mirror God was very cautious. "It’s extremely difficult for a Grudge to become Hatred. It requires igniting the black fire of Hatred, allowing the flames to burn everything, and being reborn from the ashes of memories. But these ten seem to have chosen an even more extreme path, replacing Hatred with pure malice, turning all their inner hatred towards the world and those around them, satisfying themselves through continuous harm and creating despair."

"Is there only Ten Fingers to be wary of in the mall? The mall is right at the junction of several areas, yet no area is willing to make a move against it. That’s really strange." Although the power of Ten Fingers was also very terrifying, Han Fei felt that the building marked with a question mark by Fu Sheng might contain secrets other than just Hatred, considering Fu Sheng’s character, there were definitely other secrets hidden in the mall."

"That’s all I know." The Mirror God shook his head.

With a rough understanding of the mall, Han Fei didn’t waste any more time and prepared to take action.

He traveled through the fog with Zhuang Wen, the building-jumping ghost, and then left from the outskirts of the Plastic Surgery Hospital, speeding along the path between several areas.

Once out of the fog, the hatred on Zhuang Wen could not be concealed. Directly passing through the Plastic Surgery Hospital would surely attract the attention of the Hatred there.

The main reason was that Zhuang Wen was occasionally lucid and occasionally mad. Once she started fighting with other ghosts, she didn’t care about other people’s words, making it impossible for Han Fei to calm her down.

To be safe, Han Fei chose the most reliable method.

The group moved quickly, and Han Fei also took out the Blood-colored Paperman from the Item Bar to sense Xu Qin’s location.

"Please, let nothing go wrong!"

...

"Die!"

"All of you, die!"

"Where are you hiding? Don’t stick your hand out—I see it! I can see your eyes! You’re staring at me, why are your pupils trembling!"

"Bang!"

The shelves were knocked over, bottles and jars shattered on the ground, mixing the soaked pieces of meat in with the broken glass, quickly turning into a bubbling pool of blood water.

The stench was overwhelming, and an arm engraved with skulls retracted from the gaps in the shelves, grabbing a handful of blood-red substance and stuffing it into its mouth.

"Still thinking of running, Han Fei?"

The arm dropped, and the flesh mush on the shelves smeared all over the skull tattoos. Its five fingers twisted together, the entire arm grotesquely enlarged, spreading across the first floor of the shopping mall like the roots of an ancient tree.

"Struggle! You can use all your strength to keep struggling!"

A black tongue licked the fresh bloodstains on the shelf, and a humanoid monster, engraved all over with skulls, clung to the top of the shelves, looking into the interior of the mall.

It was nearly three meters tall, radiating malice from its eyes, its body like a pool of blood about to congeal, barely retaining a human shape.

"Found you!"

Shelves nearby suddenly exploded, and several blood-red figures dashed in different directions, some towards the entrance of the mall, others to the windows on the first floor.

"Once you’re here, don’t think about leaving. Such rare merchandise should be displayed on shelves. Even if no one is willing to exchange their soul, just looking at it every day would feel pleasing to the eyes."

The humanoid monster, dragging its mutated arm, chased after the figures towards the mall entrance without hesitation.

The mall’s old-fashioned roller door slowly descended, a curtain of red woven from flesh and blood.

Just as the door was about to be completely shut, a cry erupted, activating the despair within every piece of "merchandise" in the mall at the same time!

Countless sealed jars began to crack, the cry merging the despair into a controllable power, trapped underneath the red waterfall regardless of the washing blood.

Several figures swiftly fled as the one crying revealed himself to be just a frail child, but contained within him was unimaginable power.

After everyone had escaped, the crying child quickly retreated, the monster covered in skull markings still some distance away from him.

The others didn’t stray far but waited just outside the door, their cooperation seamless.

The despair gathered by the crying slowly dissipated, and the child turned to leave, but just as he was about to exit the mall, a gaunt figure leaped down from the mall’s sign, landing in front of the roller door.

He looked almost normal, except all ten fingers were severed, his body enflamed with a black fire born from a mix of malice and hatred.

"Think you can escape?"

His drooping head slowly lifted, the man’s smile revealing forcefully sewn lips.

With a smile, he stood between the boy and the blood-colored figures, his eyes fixated on those beside him. Strangely, the reflections in his eyes were all of dismembered figures.

Everything this man saw was cut open, torn apart; his world seemed void of symmetry, harmony.

"Truly beautiful."

His neck twisted at an unsettling angle, the man’s eyes fixated on a woman in a red coat, holding a dinner knife, "Every curse is like a flower blooming on a soul; you have gained the most beautiful wedding dress."

He stepped forward, and as the man moved, a dark shadow swiftly wrapped around the boy in the mall, vanishing without a trace.

"You would make the finest merchandise, but I doubt anyone could afford your price. Never mind, you will be treasured as a collectible, not for sale."

Something writhed where his fingers had been cut, and he was about to move forward when he suddenly seemed to sense something.

His eerie eyes looked toward a narrow alley near the mall, where in the deepest darkness, a woman was watching him.

In her eyes filled with blood silk, vague black flames flickered, and her lips moved silently, repeating a single sentence—If I touch you, you will die!
