Chapter 383 Kuangxiao Han Fei (5000)

Chapter 383: Chapter 383 Kuangxiao Han Fei (5000)

He had entered several rooms in succession, and everything he saw was horrifying.

All the rooms had the same layout, each wardrobe imprisoning a boy. From the photos, Butterfly’s criteria for selecting children were simple.

They had to be good-looking and cute, meeting the aesthetic standards of its beastly parents. Moreover, they must have been happy in life.

The photos inside the wardrobe documented the boys’ transformation; it took only a wardrobe to turn a person into a monster.

"Is Butterfly doing this just to vent its own hatred?"

The photos stuck on the wardrobes symbolized Butterfly’s twisted hatred, which also included envy, but Han Fei felt that things were not that simple.

Butterfly’s special ability was related to nightmares; he could enter the nightmares of the living, and then step by step, affect reality through these nightmares.

Under certain conditions, he could even drag the consciousness of the living into the Deep World through their nightmares.

This ability was terrifying in itself, and Butterfly’s acquisition of this power was related to his childhood experiences.

When Han Fei accepted the Soul-returning Night mission, he had received a system alert that briefly narrated Butterfly’s past.

During the process of being abandoned by his biological parents, the hatred and grudge in his heart seemed to have reached an unimaginable extent. His consciousness fell into a nightmare, where he encountered some special entities, and his transformation began then.

The world had one less abused child and one more nightmare with flesh wings.

In the basement of Death Building, every wardrobe imprisoned a boy; Butterfly inflicted his own suffered pain on the innocent, filling their brains and consciousness with his hatred, like what Han Fei had just witnessed.

When those children reached their limits, their consciousness would fracture into new nightmares, merging into the wardrobes.

"Butterfly keeps creating new pain and nightmares; he seems to be able to extract power from them," Han Fei said.

Han Fei turned his head to glance at the companionable child who could move freely on the fourth floor. This child still looked innocent and confused, naturally holding Han Fei’s hand.

His small hand was as smooth and tender as milk, and his face was flawless. This child was in stark contrast to those who had turned into monsters inside the wardrobes.

Han Fei, in fact, had already developed a killing intent towards this child. He remembered clearly that upon entering the first bedroom, it was due to this child that the boy inside the wardrobe had transformed into a nightmare prematurely.

Such lovely hands, yet in unseen corners, they had committed countless killings.

"We are almost done with the rooms on the fourth floor; it seems your home is not on this level," Han Fei said.

Han Fei reached the corner of the corridor; the staircase leading to the next floor was blocked by black partitions.

The partitions had strange patterns on them, not resembling metal or wood, somewhat like the shell of something.

A faint Death Intent mixed with the fog seeped out from the gaps in the partitions, its source still deeper underground.

With the corridor blocked, Han Fei had no choice but to take the boy back to the elevator.

The boy seemed to have some resistance to the elevator, possibly due to a claustrophobic trauma.

Han Fei, holding the boy’s hand, forcibly brought him onto the elevator.

Compared to when they had left, fine red patterns had emerged on the walls of the elevator, and accompanied by the sound of the axles turning, the old elevator resumed its descent.

Fifth basement, sixth basement...

Han Fei and the boy seemed to be riding an elevator sinking into the deep sea; the suffocating feeling grew stronger, and the elevator cabin began to slowly distort as if being squeezed and deformed by something.

No one knew just how deep the levels went beneath Death Building; Han Fei looked at the numbers on the display, but his mind was on something else.

Considering each level and each room housed a boy, just how many children’s consciousness had Butterfly lured into Death Building over those years?

For this alone, the Butterfly was unforgivable.

The elevator’s descent slowed down, and when the display showed negative seven, the elevator’s cabin had visibly become irregular, with blood seeping from the crevices, flowing like yet-dried red paint, and coagulating.

"Bang!"

The cabin shook, and just when Han Fei felt he was about to be unable to breathe, the elevator finally stopped.

The elevator doors opened to both sides, and a black mist carrying the Death Intent surged directly into the elevator.

The male student protected Yinghuo and Laisheng, and all three were affected by the black mist, a trace of Death Intent appearing in their pupils, with signs of the Death Curse being triggered on their bodies.

"My head feels like it’s about to explode; we can’t go down any further."

With clenched teeth, the male student supported Yinghuo and protected Laisheng with his body, having never taken care of someone this way before in his life.

"I don’t know how to make this elevator go up. If you can’t go down any further, then wait for me on this floor." Han Fei’s words left the male student at a loss for response, wondering how a living person could endure in such a harsh environment.

Holding the hand of a little boy, Han Fei stepped out of the elevator, and at least superficially, the two of them seemed unchanged by the black mist, as if it could not affect them.

The little boy seemed truly as if he were born in the black mist, having long been accustomed to everything. Han Fei, on the other hand, because of the blood-colored characters emerging on his back, was helped by Jin Sheng’s Kaidan "Blessing" in resisting the black mist.

Han Fei didn’t know how long he could hold on; he simply wanted to get as close to the truth as possible now.

Level seven underground was much larger than level four, and the walls displayed distinct patterns. The materials constituting the Death Building’s underground structures were not bricks or stones, but something resembling an insect cocoon.

Han Fei stared at the patterns, always feeling they looked familiar: "These patterns on the walls are somewhat similar to those on the Human Pupae. Could it be that the entire Death Building is a cocoon? But why would a cocoon emit such horrifying Death Intent?"

You should know, the Death Intent buried in the Death Building’s underground traps the Unspeakable "Gesheng"; surely, the source of the Death Intent must also be an unspeakable presence!

"The Death Building is only a Level E map; it’s already absurd enough that it contains Hatred, it shouldn’t have unspeakable beings." The system’s classification of mission levels is based on certain grounds; even if there are discrepancies, they shouldn’t be too severe.

Touching the patterns on the wall with his fingers, Han Fei casually pushed open a door nearby.

The room inside was decorated just like level four underground; all the rooms in the entire underground were constructed based on the same person’s memory.

Heading straight into the bedroom, Han Fei looked at the huge closet. He hadn’t approached it yet when faint crying and calls for help emerged from the closet.

With a slight arch of his eyebrows, Han Fei had seen many closets, but the boys inside often had already lost their senses. They couldn’t even articulate their pain, let alone communicate verbally.

Flipping the closet open, a pile of dirty clothes inside emanated a dense black mist. Once the mist and stench had dissipated, a scar-laden hand lifted in the closet.

"Kill me, please kill me."

The voice from inside the closet was pleading for death; he seemed to have already given up struggling.

"Don’t rush; can you hear my voice?" Han Fei saw the child in the closet; his eyes seemed to have stuck together from not opening for so long, and his face was severely deformed—only barely recognizable as a human.

"Voice? A voice I haven’t heard of?" That tragically deformed child possessed a maturity that didn’t match his age. He waved his hands, just about to say something else.

The little boy following Han Fei then ran over: "This older brother can actually speak?"

The tone of pure innocence, genuinely puzzled, but upon hearing it, the child inside the closet instantly lost it.

Knowing his fate, he shouted toward the outside of the closet, "Go to the lowest level! Please, you must destroy the heart there—the already dead heart! Destroy it, and everyone can be saved..."

Black blood poured from the child’s mouth; his still relatively healthy ears and mouth were clogged with the bloodied filth, rendering him speechless.

"Heart..."

The arm, already covered in scars, fell limply, and in the blink of an eye, the child in the closet was absorbed by the closet, leaving behind only his former photograph.

"The further down the floors, the stronger the consciousness of the children trapped in the closet?"

Han Fei silently put away the photos from the closet; no one could guess what he was thinking from his expression.

To an outsider, it might seem as though he was grieving the death of the child in the closet, but in reality, he was simulating ways to kill the children around him in his mind.

His mind raced, and in a very short amount of time, Han Fei had concocted over a dozen plans, but each time he tried to act, the arm where Big Evil resided would throb painfully, as if to tell him that if he acted now, he would undoubtedly be the one to die.

"What is the situation with this little boy? Is he Butterfly’s childhood? Anyway, it seems he doesn’t plan to kill me yet."

Han Fei had explored the seventh basement level, and the children imprisoned there confirmed his earlier suspicion; the children on level seven were generally more powerful than those on level four. This strength was mental and spiritual, and the black memories they produced after dissipating were more terrifying than those of ordinary children.

"Looking at it this way, deeper down, there might be even more children to communicate with."

New hope rekindled in Han Fei’s heart; he instructed the male students to stay on the seventh basement with Yinghuo and Laisheng while he and the boy continued downward.

Unable to exit the game and having been driven to a dead end, Han Fei, with nothing left to lose, was no longer afraid of anything.

"Even before I obtained ’Perfect Life,’ I thought about death, but now, teetering on the edge of life and death daily, I find myself somewhat longing for the mortal world again."

Holding the little boy’s hand, Han Fei watched the elevator doors slowly closing. Going further down, he might really die, but he still chose to do so.

"Now is the best chance, the Manager hasn’t returned to life yet. All I need to deal with is this child."/p>

Butterfly and Han Fei’s abilities were completely mismatched, but Han Fei was adept at leveraging others.

In reality, Butterfly was being relentlessly tracked and pursued by the police, and his main consciousness was hampered by Huang Ying. Theoretically, even so, Butterfly should have had no worries as he had prepared counters in the Death Building for unspeakable entities, but Han Fei had actually managed to bring an unspeakable song to him.

The numbers on the elevator’s display kept changing, and the elevator cabin groaned under the strain until the number hit negative nine, when the darkness seemed to have turned into a sea.

This floor had no traces of the Soul Chaser, surrounded only by Death Intent, so dense it was impossible to dissipate.

The elevator cabin seemed to be squeezed by an external force, and its edges were deformed. Inside, Han Fei was also suffering.

The blood characters left by Jin Sheng on his body were breaking one by one, the foretold future seeming forcibly rewritten by the Death Intent.

Han Fei’s body now had a sinking sensation, as Death Intent soaked his organs and flooded his brain, crawling into his eyes.

His eyes, which always held a hint of light, were slowly turning blood-red, as if Death Intent was remodeling Han Fei’s body.

It seemed that even the blood characters left by Jin Sheng ultimately couldn’t stop the Death Intent, but those characters, in their last moments of breaking, turned into a shallow chain that drilled into Han Fei’s body, as if locking over his heart.

As the Death Intent infiltrated, three areas on Han Fei’s body began to show signs of disease, just like those children locked in the closet.

Those three affected areas represented three different Death Curses; Han Fei didn’t even know when he had been cursed.

His brain strained to recall, but pain was already emanating from those three areas.

At his chest, near his heart, blood vessels protruded with a faint character for "death" emerging, but this was blocked by Jin Sheng’s chain, unable to penetrate his heart.

Next was the arm where Big Evil resided; the lines on his palm distorted into the character for "death," and his bones broke bit by bit, stopping only where Big Evil hid.

The first two Death Curses were temporarily blocked by Jin Sheng’s spell and Big Evil, but the last Death Curse was unimpeded.

Pain shot through the back of Han Fei’s head, as if a nail wanted to pierce into it, and he couldn’t see what was happening there but faintly felt his memories being scrambled.

"Before you entered the Death Building, I had already cursed you. The content of the Death Curse was that you would die as soon as you entered the Death Building!"

A strange voice echoed in his mind, every event Han Fei had experienced stained with Death Intent, devoid of any light.

After encountering ’Perfect Life,’ the once colorful sea of his mind returned to a despairing black.

Han Fei’s consciousness plunged into Shenhai along with the descending elevator!

The elevator car was compressed by the Death Intent, deforming continuously, caving inward, while Han Fei’s own consciousness drowned in the black Brain Sea.

Unable to breathe and unable to move even his fingers, Han Fei felt as if he was about to be completely crushed to pieces.

In the black Brain Sea, red blood started to float up, initially just a drop or two, but gradually turning into a large red expanse.

"The things I couldn’t see clearly are about to appear, aren’t they?" an unfamiliar voice seemed hidden within the Death Curse, "Having shed the constraints of good and evil, and escaped the shackles of childhood memories, let me see what you really hide inside your Brain Sea!"

The urgency in the stranger’s voice grew as three Death Curses burst forth simultaneously, aiming to completely break down Han Fei’s consciousness and body.

90% of the memories in Han Fei’s Brain Sea had turned black, but the remaining 10% could not be altered. Those memories, sunk in the deepest part of the Brain Sea, were completely red, each scene dripping with blood.

Under the pressure of the Death Curse, a laughter emerged from the crimson memories.

At first, the sound was soft, but gradually the laughter grew louder, became uncontrollable, turned into madness.

All blood-red memories merged together, forming an old orphanage dripping with blood, trapping a madman who was laughing hysterically!

Nobody knew what he had been through, only that he kept laughing, laughing wildly.

"Is this the real you? Let me help you remove your false mask. Let’s see if you are the same as I am. Let’s see if you are worthy of becoming the body for my Soul-returning!"

The numbers on the elevator display changed rapidly, the space inside the car shrank, and a more intense Death Intent spurred the Death Curse.

The black surface of the Brain Sea pressed downward, and the laughing madman seemed to be anticipating something. However, no matter how much the Death Curse branded into the body, it just couldn’t break through the orphanage the madman inhabited.

That deep red had surpassed the deathly black.

The Death Curse collided again and again but just could not seize the crucial piece of memory in Han Fei’s Brain Sea.

The voice hidden in the Death Curse grew increasingly irritable as a standoff ensued in the Brain Sea, and waves formed in the black memories until a few bright spots lit up in Han Fei’s otherwise dreary life.

His first conversation with Wei Youfu, seeing Little Eight nurturing plants in Mortal World, assisting Meng Changxi in capturing Meng Chang’an, summoning Mingmei into Happiness Residental Community and handing her over to Ying Yue, leaping recklessly in the Flesh Factory of Beast Alley, joining countless individuals in picking up that knife...

The memory’s bright spots gradually increased, shimmering in the black Brain Sea.

Han Fei’s chaotic brain finally found a trace of sanity; his arm swung through the air, and his fingers, using all their strength, clenched tightly onto something!

"Rebirth!"

The dazzling blade light, like a burning flame, instantly lit up the ocean made of Death Intent. Without any hesitation, he aimed the blade of humanity at the most painful spot at the back of his head.

The light scattered as if something had been cut open, yet no pain was felt.

The memory spots in Han Fei’s Brain Sea increased, with the black Brain Sea stained by the Death Curse slowly being taken over by red.

The strange voice within the Death Curse disappeared, unable to fully occupy Han Fei’s Brain Sea, but it did release the blood-red memories stored there.

The mad laughter echoed from the depths of the Brain Sea, yet it rang in Han Fei’s ears as if a laughing version of himself was always behind him.

Opening his eyes, Han Fei’s eyes were bleeding. He looked around.

The elevator was completely unrecognizable, the little boy collapsed on the floor, his originally handsome and adorable face marred by livor mortis.

By then, the elevator had stopped, and with no numbers on the display, Han Fei had no idea which floor he had reached.

Looking out the opened elevator doors, he saw the ground covered in red flowers, scattered with pieces of a Giant Cocoon.

The fragments, imprinted with human faces and carrying the deepest malice, released the black mist that enveloped the entire Death Building community.
