Chapter 280: Using a Curse as a Blessing

Chapter 280: Chapter 280: Using a Curse as a Blessing

"I am a faculty member recognized by Jin Sheng, as long as he retains a shred of rationality, he should not harm me," said Han Fei, though he was also uncertain, he still had to appear confident in front of his students.

Following Zhang Guanxing, Han Fei arrived at the door of the infirmary. It wasn’t his first visit here, but each time pushing the door open made him nervous.

Zhang Guanxing consciously stepped aside, fearing he might cause a disturbance for Han Fei.

Grasping the doorknob of the infirmary, Han Fei felt as though he was holding a block of ice, and upon closer look, one could see tiny letters emerging on the surface of the doorknob.

Slowly opening the door, a describable Dark Energy surged out from inside the room like a cold tide, as if it intended to freeze the entire corridor.

Life Value began to drop, and the Ghost Pattern on Han Fei was activated, a beast’s roar faintly emanating from under his skin.

Barely opening his eyes, the scene inside the infirmary shocked Han Fei.

The walls, ceiling, and floor tiles, every inch of blank space within the room was filled with black and red letters, fonts imbued with curses like terrible Poison Insects.

And at the center of all those letters, in the place where the curse was the most concentrated, stood a young man.

He was tall and slender, with pale skin. His withered flesh, bloated with curse-infused letters, had been reshaped by the Curse.

"Jin Sheng?"

The young man before him was completely different from the Jin Sheng Han Fei remembered. The old Jin Sheng was skinny, short for his age, while the current Jin Sheng’s body had been remolded by the curse, every inch of his flesh merging with the curse-laden letters.

Now, he could be said to be a Horror itself.

A Horror narrated by himself, an existence that held the essence of all terrifying stories.

The chains that bound him clattered as Jin Sheng turned around, his eyes filled with lettering looking towards Han Fei.

Being stared at by Jin Sheng, Han Fei dared not move. If the old Jin Sheng was just a nervous troubled youth, the current Jin Sheng had thoroughly transformed into someone special.

The former Building Chief had tried his own methods to heal Jin Sheng. Despite long treatment, Jin Sheng remained trapped in his own world, unable to take a step forward, because his memories were too deeply ingrained, inseparable and indelible, fused with his very being.

Han Fei’s approach, however, was completely different from that of his predecessor. He was forced into Jin Sheng’s nightmares and, under similar circumstances, led Jin Sheng out of the school with his blood-stained head.

What was thought to be a hopeless cage from which they could never escape was suddenly broken. Han Fei’s arrival allowed Jin Sheng to truly see a glimmer of hope.

There was no need to strip away the past; those things were a part of himself.

After futile attempts to forget and peel away the past, Jin Sheng chose to actively embrace and integrate it. He filled his body with every Horror story he had ever told.

If no one in this world believes what I say, then I will become a world myself.

The old Jin Sheng always appeared in the form of a child, his frail body able to hide inside a cabinet. Now, he appeared as a youth, tall and striking, his stern eyes holding a hint of warmth absent for so long.

"After you killed Ma Manjiang, were the obsessions that trapped you finally shattered?" Han Fei sincerely felt happy for Jin Sheng. Now, Jin Sheng emanated a strong presence; perhaps only if the eight Human-body Puzzle victims merged into one could they contend with him.

Jin Sheng did not answer Han Fei’s question. As his lips barely parted, words accompanied by a potent Curse crawled out, each sentence of his containing terrifying power.

Han Fei now seriously doubted whether the Ghost stories Jin Sheng told might all come true.

His Talent as a Manager may well be turning fictional Kaidans into reality.

Unable to speak or communicate, Jin Sheng just silently looked at Han Fei, his expression unchanged.

It was unclear whether he had lost his sanity, or if he was suppressing the madness within.

Most people, upon seeing Jin Sheng in such a state, would probably leave immediately without further ado, but Han Fei wouldn’t.

Having been struck by the Death Curse, his life had already begun its countdown, so now he feared nothing.

"Ma Manjiang is already dead, but he was just a shell. The real culprit that harmed you is the Butterfly, and it’s still alive and well," convincing others is best done by presenting the truth, Han Fei and Jin Sheng shared the same interest, "I’m preparing to head toward the Death Building to tackle the Butterfly at its source. Can you lend me a hand?"

Jin Sheng stared at Han Fei for a long time, then his lips lifted into a faint smile. As he clasped his hands tightly together, a bone-chilling cold erupted throughout the room.

The words that filled the entire room all changed to the same sentence—The Butterfly will certainly meet with a Soul Scattering, doomed to an endless death without salvation!

The grotesque text carried the most frenzied curse, Jin Sheng had already responded to Han Fei with his actions.

The black and crimson text was dripping with blood; from a distance, Han Fei could feel the hatred embedded within the words.

"I will be discovered by the Butterfly if I get close to the Death Building, but I will aid you in my own way." A line of blood writing quietly appeared before Han Fei, as if strung together by a thread of Blood Silk, "It’s not just you and me who want to kill the Butterfly. There has been more than one person secretly watching you. When the Butterfly’s wings begin to crack, the Bloody Night will descend upon the Death Building."

The text from Jin Sheng carried a unique aura, merely reading the words was enough to clearly sense the emotions contained within.

"There are others who want to kill the Butterfly?" Han Fei’s eyes narrowed, this was very good news for him, "I’ll be setting out tonight, starting my exploration toward the location of the Death Building, and I will enter it within six days."

Upon learning that Han Fei was leaving tonight, Jin Sheng, who had kept his mouth tightly shut, slowly opened it and looked at the blood-colored security guard uniform on Han Fei, speaking a few sentences slowly.

"Before you leave, I want to tell you a true story that happened." As Jin Sheng spoke, all the cursed text in the room began to bleed and pulsate.

"I’ve forgotten when it was, but a security guard in the Death Building went missing."

"The new security guard, nobody knew his name, nor had anyone ever seen him."

"He was nice to everyone, and they got along harmoniously, as if everything was just as it had always been."

"But gradually, strange things began happening in the building. Many residents went into their homes at midnight and never came out again."

"Panic spread throughout the community, and everyone pinned their hopes on that security guard."

"However, investigations and night watches were fruitless, and the number of residents in the community dwindled incrementally. The remaining residents, accompanied by that security guard, tried to flee the community."

"That was the most horrific night. The diligent security guard disappeared first, followed by adults, then children, until at last, the sole remaining resident was about to reach the exit when he suddenly saw the long-missing security guard."

"The diligent security guard, smiling as usual, approached with a bladeless knife in hand."

"As the blade pierced through the Butterfly Pattern, the resident saw countless Resentment Souls behind the security guard—he was a well-hidden Devil, an absolute Madman who had killed everyone in the community."

The story told by Jin Sheng seemed to slowly become reality, this Ability underwent certain changes during use, the specifics of which Han Fei was also unclear about.

All he saw was that after Jin Sheng finished the story, all the blood writing from the story burrowed into Han Fei’s body.

The terrifying story was now hidden within Han Fei, feeling simultaneously like a curse and a blessing.

After narrating the story, Jin Sheng fell back into the brink of madness, and text throughout the room began to spiral out of control.

An icy and terrifying aura froze the floor, and Han Fei was pushed out of the medical office by Jin Sheng.
