Chapter 238: Chapter 238 It would be a miracle if I could level up to eleven

Humans are very complex beings, most often not simply distinguishable by good or evil.

Every person has both divinity and beastly nature within them, and while the majority in Beast Alley chose their beastly nature, Han Fei chose the opposite path.

The Factory Manager fought with Xu Qin, and in terms of strength alone, it was several times that of Xu Qin’s, but its massive body became a burden, and having always stayed deep within the Flesh Factory, it simply couldn’t hit Xu Qin.

It wanted to make use of the iron hooks in the Meat Factory, but the black scales had already sunk into the Blood Pool, and the entire factory was collapsing.

With more and more wounds on its body, the pig-faced Manager began to fear.

It tried to run away, but it couldn’t shake off Xu Qin at all, and turning its back to Xu Qin cost it an arm, completely severed.

Its movement slowed down more and more until finally, its massive body fell to the ground.

It had once brought countless souls pain and cruelty, and now its own body was covered with innumerable wounds.

It let out a reluctant roar from its mouth, and its obese pig head fell into the bloodied water, the last scene it saw was Han Fei with a Slaughter Saber in hand.

It truly couldn’t understand why that fragile body could stand up time and time again?

Stronger beasts, more terrifying ones, more ferocious ones, had all fallen; why could he still stand in this blood-red world?

In Beast Alley, only beasts were supposed to survive, with humans merely as food.

The crimson pig eyes bulged outward, and its murky pupils reflected the figure of Han Fei.

It saw the Slaughter Saber in Han Fei’s hands swing down, the finest virtues of humanity transformed into a blade thin as a cicada’s wing, the faint point of light gradually filling its eyes. In a flash, it seemed to see the starry sky.

For some reason, it had only memories of endless night, forgetting what starlight looked like.

Blood rained down, the world began to invert, and the pig-faced Manager’s head rolled on the ground, the wind chime hanging from its neck was also shattered by Han Fei.

"In the Writer’s memories, all ominous events began with the sounding of wind chimes. In reality, every time it was about to get dark, the wind chimes in the Writer’s room would sound. That old person living in the Meat Factory Courtyard for Family showed a noticeable change in expression when the wind chimes on the fourth floor sounded, starting to become anxious and afraid."

"From these signs, the wind chimes could be one of Butterfly’s psychological cues to the Writer. The Spider has probably formed an impression in its subconscious that whenever the wind chimes sound, something bad will happen. This also makes sense as to why the Flesh Factory Manager in Beast Alley would wear a wind chime."

The factory that turned living people into food and beasts was now completely destroyed, and the half-rotten and malicious heart underneath the Blood Pool was also shattered. Now, Han Fei just needed to find the other half of the heart in order to clear up all the secrets in Beast Alley, and perhaps he could even meet the Spider in person.

As that half-heart was shattered by Han Fei, the blood mist that permeated Beast Alley thinned a bit, and the number of terrifying pig-faced monsters began to slowly decrease; they seemed to have all fled towards the peripheral region of Beast Alley.

Cry supported Han Fei and Xu Qin as they joined up, and without much conversation, they all decided to leave this place first.

The "Black Giant Python," into which all the Dark Energy had been poured, had turned back into a small black snake as thin as a finger.

It crawled out from a corner, wanting to get close to Xu Qin with a pitiful look, fearful that Xu Qin wouldn’t recognize it and might accidentally step on it to death. After hesitating for a moment, it still crawled onto Han Fei’s wrist.

Han Fei and Cry were far less familiar with Beast Alley than Xu Qin, so they decided to follow her.

After a brief pause, Xu Qin led the others away from the Meat Factory and headed north of the Meat Factory.

A few meters after they left, the Flesh Factory completely collapsed, blood flowed like rivers, and all the pig-faced masks were buried in the ruins.

At the same time, a series of system prompts sounded continuously in Han Fei’s mind.

"Player ID0000, please note! You have successfully completed the Grade F main quest—Your First Formal Job! You receive a basic reward of three Free Skill Points!"

"Congratulations on finding your first formal job in this city! A perfect job is an important step toward a perfect life!"

"Player has successfully changed professions! The trading panel is now officially open!"

"With a job secured, you’ve reached another life goal! Now you can trade with others through the trading panel!"

Han Fei glanced at the newly appeared trading panel. He didn’t care about it—in this hellish place, was he supposed to trade with ghosts?

More than the trading panel, Han Fei was concerned about the thin bloodstains that had started to appear on his panel since his profession change, like some shallow pattern.

Only after seeing the main quest completion notification did Han Fei realize that only a few days had passed since he left Happiness Residential Community.

"Could it be that life in the Deep World is so fulfilling that it has created the illusion of days feeling like years?"

Shaking his head, Han Fei turned to another system prompt.

"Player ID0000, please note! You have successfully completed the Grade F hidden task—Beast Alley!"

"The method to complete hidden tasks is not set in stone, and the rewards vary based on the degree of completion!"

"The original task requirement was to survive, with the player expected to uphold humanity within Beast Alley. The task would be considered a failure the moment humanity crumbled. The player needed to escape Beast Alley while maintaining their humanity, and the system would issue rewards based on the duration of perseverance."

"Because player ID0000 destroyed the foundation of Beast Alley, the hidden task was directly completed! Task completion is calculated at 100 percent!"

"Congratulations, you receive a basic reward of two Skill Points! Double the task experience! For completing 100 percent of the hidden task, you get an additional reward—Beast Path!"

"Beast Path (Grade F Incomplete Mask): Exclusive to the Midnight Butcher profession! Wearing this mask adds one to Physical Strength! It hides all signs of life but is influenced by beastly desires! Prolonged wearing is not recommended!"

"Attention! This item is in an incomplete state! A full repair will unlock new abilities!"

"Player ID0000, please note! You have successfully ascended to Level 11! Free Attribute Point added!"

After reading all the task information, Han Fei was somewhat surprised; he hadn’t expected the Beast Alley hidden task to be completed outright.

The summary of the system’s message was—I only asked you to survive and escape the task location, but you went ahead and destroyed the very foundation of the task location. Is this something a Level 10 player should be able to do?

"Managing to complete the task is a welcome surprise, now it’s time to search for the Butcher’s home."

Han Fei first allocated the attribute points from his level-up into Physical Strength. With the exclusive professional ability of the Midnight Butcher, Han Fei gained two additional points in Physical Strength, bringing his Physical Strength Value to fifteen.

If he encountered those psychopathic killers from Happiness Residential Community now, they would be the ones needing to run, and most likely, they wouldn’t be able to escape.

With the passive Talent of Hide-and-Seek, combined with the professional characteristics of the Midnight Butcher, if Han Fei was determined to chase someone, he could very well drive them to their death.

"I feel much stronger now. Too bad leveling up doesn’t directly heal my wounds; I still need some time to recover."

Sighing, Han Fei weakly leaned toward Xu Qin, Butterfly was too frail from crying, and he was afraid Butterfly would get tired from supporting him all the time. At least, that was the reason he used to convince himself.

"Sis, do you have anything to eat? I kind of miss the meals you made back in Happiness Residential Community."
