Chapter 225: Chapter 225: My Luck Value is Nine (Third Update)
As his body plummeted and his consciousness solidified, Han Fei suddenly felt an incredibly familiar sensation.
When he put on the gaming helmet, in the world where everything was crimson and static, his body also experienced this feeling of weightlessness.
"Could it be that Spider once saw that world in reality, and the scenes he depicted in his books, the place he imagined in his consciousness, are actually Deep World?"
The Black Box is hidden in three places: deep in the heart, deep in the brain sea, and deep in nightmares.
Han Fei didn’t know why he thought of this, but he strained to control his body, following all the director’s instructions carefully, passing safely through the reserved branches before landing on the safety net.
As his body touched the safety net, it was as if Han Fei suddenly felt something, and he looked involuntarily towards a certain place in the four-cell area.
Behind one of the windows, there stood something pale and human-like.
His body bounced on the safety net, and by the time Han Fei looked towards the four-cell area again, the thing had disappeared.
The safety net began to descend, and both the director and the crew rushed over.
"Han Fei! Are you hurt?"
"That was perfect! It’s the most impressive shot I’ve ever seen!"
"The expression on your face when you fell! What kind of experiences must one go through to be able to produce such an expression!"
"Beyond reproach!"
The staff hurried over, but Han Fei kept his gaze fixed on the four-cell area until Director Zhang grabbed his hand, snapping him back to reality.
"Han Fei, your hands are so cold! Are you alright?"
"I’m fine, as long as the shot works. I definitely don’t want to jump again," Han Fei crawled out of the safety net, and he rubbed his hands together.
Such a dangerous stunt hadn’t caused him to even furrow his brow, but just making eye contact with that thing had turned his hands cold; it seemed to be an instinctive reaction of his body, as if his heart had stopped beating for that moment.
The reasons behind the previous stuntsmen’s mistakes remained undiscovered, yet the crew did not delve deeper, as everyone wanted to record Han Fei’s classic leap.
Other actors also approached Han Fei, and even the highly respected Li Huaiming thought highly of Han Fei, at least in terms of professionalism. He hadn’t seen an actor like him in a long time.
"Technology is constantly advancing, and the actor’s job isn’t as exhausting as it used to be. It should be a good thing, but I’ve noticed some young actors lack a certain feeling in the roles they play. It’s not that their acting is bad, it’s just missing a certain flavor," Li Huaiming said with emotion while looking at Han Fei, "I couldn’t understand what was missing before I met you, but now I think I do."
Han Fei tried to stand up, but Elder Li Huaiming gestured for him to stay put: "Take a good rest, I look forward to working with you again in the future."
"Elder Li, didn’t you say you would take fewer roles in the future when I asked you before? You can’t be biased now, right?" Bai Xian handed a bottle of water each to Elder Huaiming and Han Fei, and he patted Han Fei on the shoulder, "This leap of yours is bound to become classic, kid. I’m feeling a lot of pressure now! I was hoping to win Movie Emperor with this role, but now I feel like I’m the one holding us back?"
"Don’t talk like that," Han Fei waved his hands repeatedly. He didn’t think he had done anything particularly extraordinary but had just tried his best to act out Spider.
But maybe due to his experiences of surviving in Deep World, Han Fei’s understanding of going all out was different from others.
The first crucial shot of "Mystery Novelist" was completed, and the rest of the film would shift from reality into the deep consciousness, where the duel between the nine personalities would unfold.
After chatting with the other actors for a while, Han Fei slipped away to a corner by himself, took out his phone, and called Li Xue to tell her everything he saw during his fall.
The police had already set up a perimeter in the area, and whatever the thing was, it should be unable to leave the Meat Factory Courtyard for Family.
The first day’s filming ended successfully despite the strange occurrences, and the outcome was still positive.
It would take some time for Han Fei to travel back to the Old City District from the North Suburb, as he was in a hurry to get home to play his game, so he didn’t get involved with the police’s subsequent arrangements after the shoot was done.
Accompanied by an undercover companion, he returned to the Old City District.
Compared to the matters he had to deal with in the Deep World, everything he encountered in reality felt like a vacation.
Han Fei bought a bunch of tasty food, then turned on the computer, and found a professional doctor’s suturing surgery video to watch.
While eating, he watched, and Han Fei didn’t feel anything unusual, he was just cramming in learning because he might have to stitch up the wound on his shoulder himself tonight.
"Muscle and other tissues that don’t require high tension can be stitched using the interrupted suture method. When suturing muscle, be careful not to pull the thread too tightly to avoid damaging the muscle... The flavor of this beef in soy sauce is really good, very suitable for drinking with, it’s a shame I can’t drink tonight since I have to play games."
When Han Fei was unemployed, staying at home every day felt like an eternity, now he felt time was flying by fast.
He hadn’t had a proper chance to say goodbye to the Mortal World, and it was already midnight again.
"That beast must be blinded by hunger and will definitely look for food, it probably won’t stay guard over a corpse."
After making emotional preparations, Han Fei connected all kinds of wires and donned the game helmet.
Blood descended, the city enveloped by night instantly solidified, and Han Fei experienced that sensation a bit more this time, indeed a little similar to when the Spider’s consciousness had plummeted.
Opening his eyes, a pungent stench rushed into his nostrils, and intense pain contorted Han Fei’s face in an instant.
Clenching his teeth tightly, Han Fei’s legs gave in and he helplessly knelt to the ground, his body tilting to one side, leaning against a pile of trash.
The shoulder that had been torn open looked quite frightening, if not sutured, the wound would only get worse.
"Thankfully the Pig-faced Monster didn’t stay to guard the corpse..." Han Fei had just breathed a sigh of relief when suddenly footsteps echoed from the alley’s intersection: "My Luck Value is nine, I shouldn’t be so unlucky, right?"
Before Han Fei could clear his thoughts, he saw a woman wearing a Pig-faced Mask emerge from around the corner!
Her plump body was covered in thick veins, and her apron, tied around her waist, was adorned with a row of human teeth, reminiscent of some hunters who liked to collect their prey’s teeth.
Han Fei’s scalp tingled, he couldn’t run away at all now, he didn’t even have the strength to struggle.
"It must be the Hide-and-Seek’s Passive Ability taking effect, it’s far from me and hasn’t discovered me hiding in the trash pile yet."
Han Fei was considering whether to act like a corpse or not, but he had no confidence in deceiving the beast’s nose—those creatures are usually very sharp when it comes to living things they could eat.
Sticking to the wall, he barely stood up, pain and fear torturing him wildly, and just when he was about to give in to despair, a small door not far from the trash pile opened.
Occasionally there were some doors in the alley, but most of them were locked. Han Fei had tried kicking them in when he was being chased before, but it was to no avail.
"Is there someone in the house?"
The timing of that door opening was perfect, as if it was intentionally waiting for Han Fei to come over.
His mind hadn’t made a decision yet, but his body had already moved towards it, he used the last of his strength to hide inside the door.
A Black Giant Python crawled out from the darkness behind the door, quietly closed it again, and then weakly lay down beside Han Fei’s legs.
"Were you waiting for me the whole time? After I left, did you hide here all along?"
In a desperate escape, Han Fei hugged the Black Giant Python, but it resulted in pulling at his wound, causing him to grimace in pain.
"I always thought you were an idiot, I was wrong to blame you, I apologize."
