Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Layers of Fear

Seeing this scene, Axin felt somewhat afraid; she wanted to wake Little Jie but dared not come closer.

At this moment, Little Jie seemed utterly transformed, her eyes closed, yet the expression on her face was terrifying.

"Is she practicing?"

After chopping for a while, Little Jie slowly turned around with the kitchen knife still in her hands, her eyes tightly shut.

Axin covered her mouth and moved back, too shocked to react; she only saw Little Jie, still holding the knives, stepping out of the kitchen and into the bedroom.

Standing in the dim bedroom, Little Jie, with her eyes closed, aimed at the spot where Axin had just been lying and fiercely chopped down!

One chop followed by another, each one forceful.

Axin, seeing this scene, felt her legs go weak; had she not been awoken by the noise, she would have been lying next to Little Jie now.

The kitchen knife left the luxurious pillows and blankets ripped and torn; Little Jie’s hands showed bulging veins, and her face bore a gruesome and frightful expression.

Axin had never seen such an expression on Little Jie’s face; the timid and adorable woman she remembered seemed to have vanished, now hosting another being within her body.

She could no longer think about waking Little Jie; all she wanted now was to quickly leave.

"If Little Jie had sleepwalked like this before, doesn’t that mean it was her who chopped her husband to death? But where’s the body? Wasn’t it said to be missing?"

Axin could hardly believe it, considering Little Jie, who wouldn’t even dare to kill a bug, could handle a body on her own.

As Axin stepped backward, Little Jie, who had been frantically chopping at the pillows and sheets, suddenly stopped. It seemed as though she had heard something, slowly turning her body to face Axin.

Although her eyes were closed, Little Jie’s hands clutching the kitchen knife shifted bit by bit, the sharp tip of the knife now aimed directly at Axin, who stood in the doorway of the bedroom.

Enveloped in an intangible fear, Axin panicked and backed away, but Little Jie, hands still holding knives, stepped out of the bedroom!

That familiar face, now giving Axin a totally foreign sensation, made her unable to stay; she turned and ran towards the villa’s main door.

She twisted the doorknob with both hands, but the door wouldn’t budge, seeming to be locked from the inside.

As she saw Little Jie approaching closer and closer, Axin finally couldn’t hold back; she screamed Little Jie’s name, emitting a piercing shriek.

What happened next was even more terrifying. Little Jie, in her sleepwalking state, seemed to vaguely hear Axin’s voice, her eyelids fluttering lightly before suddenly opening wide.

In those beautiful eyes, there was now only the white of the eye and the fiercely twitching eyeballs — Little Jie truly seemed under a curse!

Perhaps Axin’s voice had awakened some memory in Little Jie; she did not continue approaching Axin and instead, holding the kitchen knife, started wandering around the room, apparently in search of something.

Axin took out her phone intending to call the police for help, but discovered there was no signal. She banged on the door, but no one answered; her only hope now was the villa’s window.

She wanted to escape through the window, but to get there, she had to cross through the living room where Little Jie was.

Gathering her courage, she moved forward, hearing Little Jie rustling around. As she entered the living room, the sight in front of her left her dumbfounded.

Little Jie, with eyes all white, holding a kitchen knife, was pulling stuff out from under the sofa, inside the craft ornaments, and behind the oil paintings—items wrapped in cling film and isolation bags.

Usually a very meticulous and gentle woman, Little Jie was now taking items out of those bags and then carefully collecting all the isolation bags and cling film.

After everything was ready, Little Jie turned her head to look at Axin again.

"Now the bag is enough. Squeeze a bit, and it will fit you two."

With her eyes full of whites, a completely different Little Jie, holding a kitchen knife, ran towards Axin.

The clock ticked steadily, and Axin’s screams gradually weakened. At 3:42 AM, a blood-covered Little Jie appeared in the frame.

She held the kitchen knife, her body in a distorted pose, as if something else was inhabiting her body at that moment.

That thing influenced Little Jie, making her do these crazy things.

Standing dazedly in the living room, Little Jie, with eyes full of whites, scanned the surroundings. Finally, her terrifying gaze fixed on the center of the frame, as if she saw Huang Ying, who was watching the video.

Her eyeballs, filled with whites, twitched wildly as she gripped the kitchen knife, seemingly starting to walk towards the outside of the screen!

At this most terrifying moment, the video suddenly went black again.

This time, the screen remained black for a longer period. After more than ten seconds, when the video returned to normal, Little Jie had collapsed on the floor, her expression back to normal.

However, in front of her, there appeared several blood-colored shoe prints, the tips of the shoes pointing directly at the video screen, as if something had walked out of the video.

The video ended there, and Huang Ying glanced at the time in the bottom right corner of the screen. It was now exactly 3:43 AM, and the time in the video seemed to have matched up with the real time.

"Is it a prank?" Huang Ying exited the video, wanting to find the person who had sent him the private message, but when he looked at the person’s ID, he found it had turned into a mess of garbled text.

Clicking on the personal information, the platform showed that the user did not exist.

"How could this be? I remember clearly, the person’s name was ’Seen’." Already frightened, Huang Ying now encountered this incident, feeling inexplicably uneasy in his heart.

He deleted the video, deeply cleaned the files, and stepped out of the bathtub, the cold instantly enveloping his body. There seemed to be a malfunction in the room’s temperature control system, making it exceptionally cold that night.

Drying off the water droplets, Huang Ying put on a bathrobe and walked out of the bathroom.

He looked around the dark room, feeling a stifling sensation in his chest, and found it hard to breathe.

After turning on all the lights in the house, Huang Ying still felt uncomfortable. He was tired, sleepy, his head dizzy, but he couldn’t sleep, feeling that something was off in the room.

"Could that thing actually have come out of the video?" Lying on the large bed in the bedroom, Huang Ying opened a drawer, took out two sleeping pills, "Impossible, that was just a prank. How could ghosts possibly exist in this world?"

After taking the sleeping pills, Huang Ying covered himself with a blanket.

Sleepiness and exhaustion tormented his nerves, but his mind was filled with all sorts of ghosts and terrifying monsters, and he could faintly hear footsteps.

"Footsteps?"

Huang Ying suddenly opened his eyes, but as he looked around, an indescribable terror instantly enveloped him.

All the lights in the house went out, and a vague figure was moving back and forth in the living room. She eventually entered the kitchen.

As time slowly passed, at 3:44 AM a figure emerged from the kitchen, seeming to hold something in her hand.
