Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Don’t Eat What Others Give You (Requesting Monthly Votes)

Having completed so many hidden tasks in Building 1, Han Fei suddenly found it not so difficult to understand why Hidden Map was placed in the middle of the street.

He shook the Spiritual Altar in his hand, wishing he could shake a ghost out of it, but there was no sound from inside the altar.

Slowly crouching down, Han Fei instinctively leaned against the nearby wall, bending forward as if it gave him a greater sense of security.

With his teacher’s ID in his pocket, the moment he stepped onto the pedestrian path across the street, he entered the Hidden Map without knowing what had happened, and now he was already in the school.

Taking out the teacher’s ID, Han Fei discovered that a black-and-white photo of himself had somehow appeared on it, possessing an eerie Underworld aesthetic.

"I can exit the game at any time now, that’s my biggest trump card, but the top priority is to identify my location first," he muttered to himself.

Not daring to stay in one place too long, Han Fei quickly calmed down after the initial panic.

The teacher’s ID of the incumbent Building Chief appeared to have been tampered with, and Han Fei, holding this ID, was directly transported to a certain place after entering the Hidden Map.

"The Old Building Chief has put all his hopes on me, he surely won’t harm me. Could this ID be sending me directly to the place closest to his Memory Fragments?"

The more Han Fei thought about it, the more likely it seemed. Although the former Building Chief’s memories were shattered, those memories once belonged to the same person, sharing the same obsessions and goals.

However, all this depended on whether parts of the Old Building Chief’s Memory Fragments were indeed hidden within the academy.

Cautiously observing every item around him, the simple single bed, wooden table painted yellow, on top of which lay a sign-in book, a bag of fruit, and a few pens.

The room was small, the wall was haphazardly hung with work reports, and in a corner, a disorderly pile of electric cooking pots and hairdryers, all covered in dust.

Opening the drawer, all he found were unopened thank-you letters.

"It seems like I am in the school’s dormitory supervisor’s room. Could the Building Chief’s Memory Fragments be hidden within this dormitory building?" Han Fei checked the sign-in book and found something strange—the names signed in for the first and second floors were all boys, and those for the third and fourth floors were girls. "Is there only one dormitory building in this school?"

Han Fei had researched Yimin Private Academy in reality, but useful information was scarce. All he knew was that the school was ostensibly a private academy but was actually of poor educational quality and very disorganized in management.

Without hastily leaving the room, Han Fei now had an exceptionally keen memory. He repeatedly read through the sign-in book and approximately memorized the names of the students in each room.

Setting down the sign-in book, he then looked at the thank-you letters in the drawer.

"To receive so many thank-you letters, this dorm supervisor must be well-liked by the students..." He opened the envelope, and his expression changed upon reading the content inside.

Written with a red marker on very cute cartoon stationery were the words—Go die! Go die! Go die!

The person who wrote these words seemed to have pressed so hard that the pen tip pierced through the paper.

There was no signature on the thank-you letter, and Han Fei opened several more. The curses in the letters became more venomous.

"The handwriting is not exactly the same, these seem to be from different children sent to the dorm supervisor."

Just looking at those words, Han Fei could feel the writers’ malice: "What on earth did the dorm supervisor do to them?"

Originally, the scene seemed normal, even a bit warm, but now all Han Fei felt was chilling dread.

He put the letter back and then looked at the bag of fruit on the table.

Picking up a banana and examining it closely, Han Fei noticed a very tiny needle hole on the top of the banana.

He peeled the banana and saw nothing wrong, but when he broke off the very top of the banana, he discovered that a needle had been inserted inside!

The needle was aligned with the top, and if someone were to bite down carelessly, the needle might pierce through his upper jaw.

"This is too vicious."

With a tingling scalp, Han Fei dared not move rashly. He sat on the single bed with the bag of fruit.

But as soon as his hand touched the bed, he immediately stood up again.

Furrowing his brow slightly, Han Fei noticed the quilt still retained some warmth, as if someone had lain on this bed not long ago.

"A normal residential management office should have spare keys to all the dorm rooms, but this room doesn’t have any. It seems someone just took the keys and left a few minutes ago."

Calculating the time, Han Fei felt that the person might be returning soon.

He quietly walked to the window and peered outside.

Through the windows of the residential management office, one could see the outside corridor, pitch black and utterly oppressive with no one around at the time.

"There’s a staircase on each side of the dormitory. At the corner of the left staircase, it seems there are toilets and places for students to wash up..."

Han Fei was still observing when he suddenly heard footsteps coming from upstairs.

"Has the housekeeper returned?"

The footsteps were coming down the right staircase, urgently.

Han Fei removed the needle from the banana, then quickly opened the residential management office door, and ran towards the left staircase.

"The banana was peeled open, the housekeeper will definitely know someone entered the room! It’s not safe to hide in the toilet, I need to find a way to leave this building!"

In this critical moment, Han Fei’s mind was exceptionally clear.

He had planned well, but plans couldn’t keep up with changes. As he entered the left staircase, another set of footsteps echoed from the left corridor.

The two sets of footsteps sounded different. The footsteps from the right corridor were steady and strong, as if they were indicating to the people inside that he was patrolling; the ones from the left were very light, almost as if tiptoeing, and couldn’t be heard unless quite close.

Han Fei was not yet ready to reveal his presence, but now it was too late to hide back in the toilet. The footsteps from the right were resounding in the corridor, getting closer and closer to his location.

With no safe place to hide, Han Fei simply hid behind the corridor door.

This dormitory, likely due to housing both male and female students in one building, had wooden safety doors installed on each floor’s corridor to prevent students from randomly moving across floors.

As the footsteps approached in the pitch darkness, Han Fei was hiding behind the door. If someone were to suddenly pull the door open, both parties might be scared to death.

Holding his breath, Han Fei didn’t dare to exit the game at this location because once he exited, he would reappear behind the door next time, and that risk was too great.

The steady footsteps on the right gradually faded as the person entered the residential management office.

The quiet footsteps in the left corridor drew closer and closer to Han Fei before disappearing right beside him.

"Did that person stop right beside me?" Han Fei hid behind the door and didn’t move, and after a moment, he heard a boy’s voice.

"Weird, didn’t the housekeeper eat fruit today?"
