My ‘Healing’ Game -
Chapter 134 I Want to Be the Principal
Chapter 134: Chapter 134 I Want to Be the Principal
After checking the balance in his citizen account repeatedly, Han Fei added two more eggs to his egg-filled pancake order.
"In the future, I should be getting richer and richer," he thought. "I can’t be too harsh on myself; I should treat myself well occasionally. It would be a pity if my life were gone without having spent all my money."
Arriving at North Street of the Old City District, Han Fei boarded the film crew’s bus. Today they were still shooting on location, and if all went well, he would finish all his scenes.
Once he was on the bus, Han Fei found a corner seat. He wasn’t too keen on sitting next to others.
Pulling the curtain of the bus window closed, Han Fei was about to catch up on some sleep when Director Jiang took a seat next to him on purpose.
"Han Fei, do you want to participate in a major event tomorrow?"
"What event?"
"It’s a variety show," explained Director Jiang, still hoping Han Fei would join. "You’ll play some games, and it’ll be a good opportunity to promote the movie. You don’t have an agency backing you, so I think you should seize the chance to get some exposure. They’re quite keen on having you, too. Everyone’s curious what makes the Righteous Hero actor so special."
"Better not. I don’t have much of a portfolio, and I guess many people are only interested in me because I’ve helped the police catch criminals. For now, it’s better to keep a low profile," Han Fei replied, leaning against the seat, half-asleep.
"You truly are a breath of fresh air among actors. You’re about to become famous, yet you’re not at all complacent." Director Jiang’s admiration for Han Fei was growing. "After we finish this movie, your career is likely to take off. I hope we can work together again in the future."
"No problem."
Arriving at the location for the exterior shoot, another busy day began.
Due to a mid-production script change in "Twin Flowers," most of the footage was unusable. To keep up with the schedule, the entire crew was working overtime, with everyone pushing hard together.
By eight o’clock in the evening, Han Fei had completed his final scene, while Zhan Lele and Jinnian were still working.
With Han Fei’s help and encouragement, the two young actors had seen a significant improvement in their acting skills. However, they still had a long way to go to match up to Han Fei.
According to Director Jiang, they needed to work really hard to avoid dragging down the film.
"I’ve unwittingly started living the life I once dreamed of, yet I feel as undisturbed as an ancient well," he reflected.
Without joining the wrap party the crew had prepared, Han Fei left on his own as usual.
Taking public transport back to the Old City District, he had only walked a few steps from the bus stop when he suddenly heard a swooshing sound.
Before looking up, Han Fei’s body instinctively dodged to the side.
"Crash!"
A flower pot stuffed with succulents smashed right in front of him!
The broken shards cut his finger, and the loud noise drew the attention of all the passersby around.
The reaction time honed in Deep World had saved Han Fei’s life, and his face darkened with a grim gaze towards the residential building on the side of the road.
A couple on the third floor was arguing while their child kept crying.
"Coincidence?" Taking out his phone, Han Fei called Li Xue immediately. "I’m not completely sure, but it feels like Butterfly has made a move against me."
"Get to a crowded place right now! Stay safe!" Li Xue said as she asked for his address and hurried to where Han Fei was.
Han Fei took out his phone to document evidence, recalling what Meng Changxi once said—that Butterfly would use seemingly unrelated objects and events to kill.
"My current place is being closely monitored by the police; it would be difficult for Butterfly to strike there. If it wants to kill me, it will definitely set a trap somewhere outside the community."
"This place can’t be too far either, and it must be somewhere that I’m likely to visit."
"My life is extremely routine, apart from acting, I just go home and play video games. And, en route, one place I’m sure to pass by is the bus station."
Watching the still-arguing couple, Han Fei’s gaze was ice-cold and frightening. "A ceramic flower pot filled with soil falling from the third floor could easily kill a person, and at that height, it’s unlikely to miss its target."
Ten minutes later, the police arrived, and they went up to the apartment with Han Fei.
When the quarrelling couple heard someone knocking, they were initially unwilling to open the door, but as soon as they heard the police’s voices, they immediately became cooperative.
"We are investigating a series of murders and hope you can cooperate with us..."
After half an hour of investigation, there were no findings; the flower pot was accidentally knocked over during a scuffle between the husband and wife.
They had planted several succulent plants, which require plenty of sunlight, so they placed the flower pots on the balcony.
The husband was hiding on the balcony, smoking, with the window open when his wife came home early from work, leading to an argument and a scuffle over some trivial matters.
The whole process was not complicated, filled with coincidences, and Han Fei nearly died in the midst of them.
While the police questioned the adults, Han Fei wandered around the room, eventually turning his attention to the timid-looking child.
With tear stains remaining on his face and his eyes clean and clear, it seemed the child was the most innocent person in the room.
"Butterfly seems to have a special affection for children, whether it’s the captive Little Eight or the previous case at Yimin Private Academy," Han Fei walked over to Li Xue and whispered a few words in her ear, signaling her not to overlook the child.
After he finished speaking, Han Fei left.
"Now Butterfly might have already started to make a move against me; I must catch it as soon as possible!"
Every second counts. Han Fei was now in the open, while Butterfly remained hidden in the dark.
"There should be clues about Butterfly in Deep World, after all, Happiness Residential Community and Yimin Private Academy are both related to Butterfly."
Upon entering his rented room, Han Fei switched on his computer and ordered a batch of books online — "The Science of Success", "Talent Management", "How to Become the Best Teacher in a Child’s Eyes", "The Power of Education"...
With headphones on listening to courseware, Han Fei multitasked by searching the internet for information related to Yimin Private Academy.
Unlike the Human-body Puzzle case, most of the information about the school had been deleted, and Han Fei only found bits and pieces of clues and photographs.
One photo left a deep impression on Han Fei, where Jin Sheng’s grandparents were holding wreaths and paper money, blocking the school’s gate, and were eventually dragged away by teachers from the private academy.
"Why is there so little information? It feels like a lot has been deliberately deleted."
The Yimin Private Academy case was even older than the Human-body Puzzle case, so it was understandable that information was incomplete.
"Few people in reality might remember that school, and evidence might have already vanished over time. But the lack of evidence in reality doesn’t mean there is none in Deep World. The previous Building Chief had deliberately marked this location on the map, there must be a profound reason."
In his mind, Han Fei vaguely remembered what the previous Building Chief had said, urging him to explore as soon as possible, as if danger was quickly approaching.
Han Fei had been skeptical until one night when singing echoed through the streets, and all ghosts gave way; he was nearly killed by that terrifying monster.
Its power exceeded his understanding; with such an enemy in existence, Han Fei felt no sense of security and was desperate to grow stronger.
"Did I destroy the world in my previous life? Why does it seem like someone wants to kill me no matter if I’m in real life or in the game?"
After gathering information, Han Fei practiced basic fighting techniques again, and then sat on his bed with the game helmet in his arms.
After a brief rest, Han Fei connected all the necessary cables and put on the game helmet.
When the game started, Han Fei’s vision of the world turned into a sea of blood red, covered everywhere with fresh blood.
"Welcome to Perfect Life!"
Opening his eyes, Han Fei immediately allocated his two accumulated Skill Points to Acting and diving into the secrets of the soul.
Then he entered the bedroom deepest in the Haunted House and found Wei Youfu.
"Youfu, come with me to Building No. 2, I want to convene all the owners of Happiness Residential Community."
"Convene?" Wei Youfu leaned weakly against the wall, looking fragile: "Some residents lose part of their abilities once they leave their rooms, so it’s very difficult to gather them without their trust. Do you have something important?"
"I have a teaching certificate from Yimin Private Academy. Now, I have a plan; if successful, we might be able to smoothly take over Yimin Private Academy."
"Take over Yimin Private Academy?" Wei Youfu’s eyes widened: "Didn’t we just relieve the Shop Manager of the convenience store yesterday? Why don’t you rest for a night? We can plan this carefully."
"We don’t have much time left; every night is precious to us," Han Fei looked earnestly at Wei Youfu: "The children at that school are being harmed by Evil Ghost. Even if it’s just to rescue them, I must blend in."
"Are you serious?" Wei Youfu asked Han Fei again: "Having that school’s teaching certificate indeed allows you to come and go freely, but have you ever been a teacher?"
"I never intended to be a teacher from the start; my goal is to become the principal."
Han Fei took out the teaching certificate from his Item Bar, then shared his plan with Wei Youfu.
