Chapter 953: Chapter 925 Escape

Several Mystic Rank Experts hesitated.

They were uncertain whether they should make a move.

Because, if they did, while their chances of victory weren’t small, the greater likelihood was that Li Chen would take down a few of them.

As for who might be taken down, no one could guarantee it wouldn’t be them.

Making a move came with extreme risk. This was a very tough decision.

However, while they deliberated, Li Chen wasn’t going to give them the time to do so. If he didn’t seize the moment to escape now, by the time his pursuers caught up, he’d likely find himself surrounded again.

"Get out of my way... now!!"

Seeing the indecisiveness of the group in front of him, an unrelenting glint flashed through Li Chen’s eyes. With a swing of his right hand, another blade fiercely slashed toward them.

Upon seeing the blade, the group’s expressions shifted simultaneously. Instinctively, they recalled Li Chen’s terrifying strike from earlier and, without much thought, chose to retreat.

Taking advantage of this gap, Li Chen broke through their formation and sped away.

"Almost there! Almost there!"

Li Chen’s gaze locked unerringly onto a specific direction, and he charged forward without the slightest pause.

Though the forest harbored members of the Nether Army, Li Chen had already given them orders earlier.

Unless commanded by him, they must not reveal themselves under any circumstances!

Although the Nether Army had made tremendous progress recently, they still couldn’t match warriors who had been training since childhood.

If it were Yellow Rank Martial Artists, they might manage to contend with sheer numbers. But here, they were up against countless Mystic Rank Martial Artists!

Even Li Chen could only choose to flee, let alone the Nether Army under his command.

If they were exposed now, it would amount to sending them to their deaths!

Li Chen wasn’t the kind of man to sacrifice his subordinates needlessly. He couldn’t bring himself to do something like that.

"If that’s the case, I’ll have to rely on myself!" Li Chen’s eyes gleamed as he dashed madly toward his destination.

Meanwhile, the Mystic Rank Experts who originally intended to block him only now realized what had happened.

They also came to understand that while Li Chen’s earlier strike had been powerful, it wasn’t truly beyond their ability to withstand.

That earlier slash had been nothing more than a feint!

"We’ve been tricked! That brat’s injuries are worse than we thought—we completely fell for it! Quick, after him!" one Mystic Rank Expert bellowed angrily.

The group glanced behind them and saw even more Martial Artists closing in. After exchanging a look, they turned and gave chase in Li Chen’s direction.

"Li Chen..."

Quietly nestled in Li Chen’s arms, An Qin’s gaze was different from usual.

Her expression was as calm as ever, but within that calmness lay subtle, unspoken emotions.

"What is it?" Li Chen didn’t look down at An Qin. His eyes stayed fixed on the path ahead as he continuously monitored the sounds behind him.

"Did you... come to rescue me?" An Qin asked suddenly, as though something had crossed her mind.

"I..." Li Chen hesitated for a moment before answering truthfully, "At first, I didn’t know it was you. But later..."

"I understand." An Qin stopped him, her face softening into a sweet smile.

Li Chen didn’t notice this fleeting smile.

She didn’t need him to say it—she already understood his intentions.

Understanding was enough.

She had once driven her sword into his body, yet Li Chen had never brought it up. From beginning to end, he had consistently placed her safety above all else. That alone was sufficient.

Although she hadn’t spent much time with Li Chen, An Qin deeply understood the kind of person he was.

He was a man of unwavering integrity, clever yet stubborn to a fault.

"If not for me, would he have unleashed carnage on them by now?" An Qin thought, the smile on her lips unchanging even as tears glistened faintly in her eyes.

"Damn it—they’ve anticipated the route." Li Chen’s eyes flashed as his expression darkened.

Not far ahead, a group of people stood with solemn faces, blocking his path.

Though Li Chen was fast, the forest was teeming with Martial Artists. Once word spread about him and An Qin, the entire forest became embroiled in their pursuit.

The excitement and greed flickering in the eyes of those in his path made Li Chen sigh inwardly.

As expected, nothing stirs the hearts of men more than greed.

"If that’s how it’s going to be..." Li Chen stopped moving and set An Qin down on a nearby branch. "Wait here for me. I’ll clear the way."

"Alright." For once, An Qin didn’t argue. She simply nodded obediently.

Red hair billowing, Red Moon in hand, Li Chen strode toward the group blocking his path.

"So, you’re the one who took the woman?" one of them asked harshly, his tone heavy with caution. "Hand over the woman and that blade in your hand, and maybe we’ll spare your life. Otherwise..."

"Otherwise, what?"

A cold voice suddenly came from behind them.

They turned abruptly, only to see the ’Li Chen’ in front of them dissolve into mist under a light breeze.

"An afterimage?!"

Their pupils contracted sharply as they instinctively launched all their attacks behind them.

"Boom!!"

Dust filled the air, but there was no one behind them.

At that moment, the same cold voice echoed from in front once more.

"You’re too slow."

"Slash—"

The sound of a blade cutting through the air came, followed by silence.

With two simple motions—drawing and sheathing his blade—Li Chen ended the lives of three people.

His expression didn’t change, and none of their blood stained him.

Turning back, Li Chen walked toward An Qin.

"Let’s go." He looked at her, forcing a faint smile onto his icy face.

To others, it might not have been obvious, but Li Chen knew his own body too well—he was reaching his limit.

"Fortunately, the relic is just ahead. Once we get inside, they won’t be able to follow." Li Chen took a deep breath, tightly gripping Red Moon as he helped An Qin to her feet.

The relic was so close now he’d already activated the hidden token to open it. Once they arrived, they could enter immediately.

Without his permission, no one would have any means to breach the relic.

Just then, the voice Li Chen least wanted to hear suddenly rang out from ahead.

"Run? Brat, do you really think you can escape?"
