Chapter 934: Chapter 906: Narrow Escape from Death

"Whoosh—"

Li Chen was darting through the forest at an incredible speed, completely disregarding the terrain as he recklessly sprinted along the mountain path.

His pace so swift that even the blood dripping from his body left trails that could only be seen far apart from one another.

In fact, it could be said that these blood traces had become entirely useless as evidence for tracking him.

The distances were simply too vast.

This was the world outside the Fangshi Barrier.

And now, Li Chen was madly dashing along the mountain peaks outside the Fangshi.

Occasionally, wild beasts attempted to block his path, but he simply leapt over them in a single bound. At his speed, those beasts couldn’t hope to catch up to him.

However, he was injured.

And his injuries were severe.

So severe that he had barely managed to avoid death.

On Li Chen’s shoulder, at some point, perched a small black mantis.

Gazing at the little mantis, Li Chen’s eyes flashed with the gratitude of having survived a near-death ordeal.

If not for it, he would already be a corpse by now.

"Damn it!"

Li Chen’s body suddenly staggered, nearly collapsing to the ground.

The chaotic Blood of Heaven within him had begun to show signs of being uncontrollable. If this continued, he might not even make it out of the mountain range before being torn apart by the rampaging energy inside him.

Most critical of all, he couldn’t even use this energy.

"But if I stop, once they catch up, death would be certain!"

Li Chen gritted his teeth tightly, blood constantly seeping from the corner of his mouth, but he no longer had the mind to care about that.

Right now, he needed to find a place to heal himself as quickly as possible.

Suddenly dropping down onto all fours, Li Chen’s nose twitched faintly twice. Immediately, he lowered his posture and headed in a certain direction for investigation.

After moving for a while, Li Chen discovered a massive rock.

Calling it a rock was an understatement—it was more like a small mountain.

At the base of this small mountain lay a half-buried cave.

Upon seeing the cave, Li Chen hardly hesitated before crawling inside.

"Bang!!"

Once inside the cave, Li Chen struck out with a single punch, knocking out a brown bear lazily dozing off in the den. Then, he immediately began adjusting his breathing.

At this moment, his body had already reached a critical state of chaos. If treatment wasn’t administered promptly, the consequences could be irreversible.

"Pfft!"

After circulating True Qi through his body twice, Li Chen suddenly spat out a mouthful of black blood, interspersed with fragments of tiny internal organs.

Having expelled the blood, Li Chen’s body quickly collapsed into frailty.

It wasn’t long before he directly fell unconscious.

The little mantis perched on Li Chen’s shoulder quietly leapt down after his collapse, crouching at his side to stand vigil.

If observed closely, one might even notice a human-like emotion glimmering in the mantis’s eyes.

An emotion called ’attachment.’

...

"Market Master..."

Looking at the man sitting cross-legged, regulating his breath not far away, Luu Chen hesitated for a moment but nonetheless spoke.

"Don’t worry, I’m fine," Zi Zhao replied casually.

Hearing Zi Zhao’s words, Luu Chen and the others let out a collective sigh of relief.

After a moment of silence, Liang Qi finally spoke, "Market Master, that person..."

"Leave him be," Zi Zhao replied softly. "With that creature around, even if you chased him, it would make no difference and might needlessly cost your lives."

Shaking his head, Zi Zhao turned his back to them, a bitter expression momentarily flashing across his face.

"I can’t believe that after all my cautious planning for years, I ended up making such a catastrophic move," Zi Zhao muttered.

Lowering his head, he gazed at his right hand.

Two fingers were missing from it.

His forefinger and middle finger appeared as though severed cleanly by some sharp weapon, removed from the base.

Though the bleeding had stopped, the ghastly wounds still painted a chilling picture.

Even Zi Zhao couldn’t fathom how, as a dignified Earth-level expert, he could have fallen at the hands of a Profound-level boy.

At that moment, just as Zi Zhao was about to kill Li Chen, a black mantis he had never seen before suddenly darted out from Li Chen’s garments.

The mantis struck so quickly that Zi Zhao didn’t have time to pull back his hand—it cleanly severed his two fingers.

Moreover, the mantis wasn’t just fast but also ferociously precise.

His fingers weren’t directly chopped off in one strike, which could still leave room for reattachment.

In that instant, the mantis slashed repeatedly, cutting his fingers like slicing radishes, piece by piece. Even the most skilled medical prowess couldn’t reattach already fragmented fingers.

Li Chen seized the opportunity to escape.

Initially, Zi Zhao intended to pursue him.

But when he reached the Barrier Entrance, a thought struck him, and ultimately, Zi Zhao halted his steps.

"Market Master..." Seeing the glaring bloodstains next to Zi Zhao, Luu Chen attempted to speak but was promptly interrupted by Zi Zhao.

"Enough. No need to say more—I understand it all," Zi Zhao stated, waving his hand. "That black mantis may not be as strong as we imagine, but its attacks are astoundingly lethal. Even I fell for its trick; at your levels, it’s possible you’d be killed outright."

"As much as I want to kill that boy, your lives are far more important," Zi Zhao added indifferently, his tone devoid of emotion.

Zi Zhao’s words caused a strange glint to flicker in Luu Chen and the others’ eyes.

After a long silence, Luu Chen, Liang Qi, and the three others who had been waiting nearby knelt on one knee toward Zi Zhao’s back.

"We pledge our lives and loyalty to the Market Master till death!"

Zi Zhao didn’t turn around, but a faint smile appeared on his lips.

However, as his gaze fell on his right hand, the smile vanished again.

In his heart, he silently murmured a name: "Li Chen..."

...

Outside the mountain range, a disheveled young man stood beside the highway with a complicated expression, gazing back at the rugged mountains in the distance.

"Strength...it’s always strength!"

Ji Changfeng clenched his fists as veins bulged from his forehead.

The past decade or so had been spent in the most privileged and stable environment—studying, cultivating. Among the ordinary, he had always stood out exceptionally.

But this time, he had encountered a completely different world.

A side that was utterly unlike everything he had ever known.

People were no longer kind but instead driven by desire, slaughter, and the rule of strength.

The raw and brutal law of the jungle deeply shocked this young man freshly enrolled in college, still harboring residual pride.

Fixing his gaze on the towering, endless mountains, Ji Changfeng circulated his True Qi to its limits and released a deafening roar.

"Brother Cheen!!!"
