Chapter 904 - 876: The ’Death’ of Li Chen
Chapter 904: Chapter 876: The ’Death’ of Li Chen
The night wind blew gently, and the nights on Forget River Mountain felt a bit chilly.
Ordinary people in such places would have to wear thick clothing to fend off the biting mountain breeze.
Therefore, during times like these, very few people would venture to Forget River Mountain.
But tonight, atop the summit of Forget River Mountain, two figures stood.
The two were dressed in the simplest of garments, seemingly impervious to the piercing cold of the mountain’s nighttime winds.
Standing face to face, they were not loitering, but instead searching for flaws in each other’s movements.
"I didn’t expect you to actually have the guts to come find me." Yu Manfang smirked as he observed the youth before him.
The smirk carried a tinge of coldness.
"After all, hiding forever isn’t an option. I might as well just come to you sooner rather than later." The young man smiled, his face showing not the slightest trace of fear that a life-or-death duel was imminent.
"Interesting, very interesting!" Yu Manfang burst into hearty laughter. "To be honest, kid, I’m starting to like you a little. If you weren’t my son’s murderer, I might have even considered befriending you despite the age gap."
However, upon hearing Yu Manfang’s words, Li Chen waved his hand dismissively. "Let’s not. A friend like you is way out of my league."
"Are you mocking yourself?" Yu Manfang asked, shaking his head.
"Of course not." Li Chen put on a look of feigned shock as he glanced at Yu Manfang. "Can’t you tell? I’m mocking you."
Yu Manfang’s expression instantly darkened.
"It seems I was mistaken. You, brat, are courting death!"
"Actually, it’s not certain who will live and who will die. Why are you so sure that I’ll die tonight?" Li Chen waved his hand nonchalantly, then extended his palm toward Yu Manfang, gesturing, "Go ahead, make your move."
"Since you’re in such a hurry to die, I’ll oblige!" Yu Manfang’s eyes flashed fiercely as he lunged forward, charging straight at Li Chen.
Mid-air, the Qi Sword materialized in Yu Manfang’s hand and sliced down toward Li Chen with a sizzling sound.
Seeing this, Li Chen’s expression shifted dramatically, and he instinctively dodged to the side.
"Crack!!"
The Qi Sword stabbed directly into the ground. However, it seemed the sheer force behind Yu Manfang’s strike caused the ground to crack in places.
"Sometimes, I really admire you old-timers who’ve trained for decades, bringing your mastery of True Qi to such perfection."
Despite the situation, Li Chen’s smile remained unchanged as he looked at Yu Manfang.
Slowly, he stretched out his hands, and a dense True Qi began to radiate outward.
Finally, two identical gauntlets formed over Li Chen’s hands.
"This is the best I can do." Glancing at the Qi Sword in Yu Manfang’s hand, Li Chen let out a wry chuckle and said, "But battles still come down to real skill."
"That’s correct!"
To Li Chen’s words, Yu Manfang surprisingly nodded in agreement.
"No matter how powerful a technique or how deep one’s True Qi, only by defeating opponents can one become truly strong!"
"A loser is just a loser, no matter how strong they might’ve been, no one will remember them."
As he spoke, Yu Manfang swung his Qi Sword. "Since you understand this truth, then obediently and honestly accept your defeat. Stop wasting my time."
"And who said I’m destined to be the loser?"
Li Chen’s face cracked into a peculiar grin as he abruptly charged toward Yu Manfang.
The Qi Sword collided with the gauntlets on Li Chen’s hands, producing a metallic clang.
"Clang!!"
Yu Manfang’s gaze flickered as he kicked Li Chen in the stomach, then slashed with his sword.
"Slash!!"
An arm fell to the ground.
Li Chen’s entire left arm had been severed.
Yet, he seemed unaffected by the pain. His remaining hand suddenly opened and clamped tightly onto the blade of Yu Manfang’s Qi Sword, his face twisted with rage.
"Since you’re so eager to see me dead, then I can’t let you walk out of here alive either!"
"Hmm?"
Yu Manfang noticed something off in Li Chen’s expression, but he couldn’t figure out what card Li Chen still had to play.
Even after losing an arm, was it possible for him to turn the tables?
"No, something’s wrong!"
Yu Manfang’s expression shifted dramatically.
He sensed a peculiar energy fluctuation emanating from Li Chen.
This energy was not one to reverse his predicament but seemed to aim for... mutual destruction!
"Damn it!!"
Almost reflexively, Yu Manfang dispersed his Qi Sword and tried to leap back.
However.
"Too late!!"
Li Chen’s face contorted madly as he flung himself at Yu Manfang, his remaining arm locking around Yu Manfang’s neck. No matter how Yu Manfang attacked, he clung on and wouldn’t let go.
"You damned brat! If you want to die, I’m not ready to die with you! Let go! Let go of me!!"
Earth-level True Qi erupted from Yu Manfang’s body, launching a full-force assault against Li Chen.
Within mere moments, Li Chen’s body was riddled with wounds.
But this didn’t disrupt the reversal of True Qi within his body.
When one’s strength reached a certain level, a unique ultimate technique would naturally be acquired.
This ultimate technique required no learning, no teaching—it came naturally with power.
The name of this technique was...
"Self! Destruction!"
"Yu Manfang, let’s die together!!"
Li Chen’s face twisted with insanity as he ignited all the True Qi within his body, his entire figure swelling like a balloon.
"Boom!!!!!"
A deafening explosion that seemed to shake the entire mountain roared across the summit.
Then, silence fell.
"What was that? That noise..."
"Such a massive commotion... Could it be?" The Yu Family’s entourage at the base of the mountain stared in shock toward the summit.
They didn’t know what had happened, but just from the sensation of the sound, they could sense the terrifying power at the summit.
"Was that really just a clash between a Profound Level and Earth Level?" The old steward swallowed hard.
Originally, he hadn’t believed Li Chen could escape alive from Yu Manfang, but the commotion just now had convinced him.
"Let’s go up and take a look," someone suggested.
"Alright." The old steward nodded.
When they reached the summit, the scene before them left them stunned.
Li Chen was nowhere to be seen, while Yu Manfang appeared incredibly haggard, clearly injured and leaning against a nearby rock to recover.
"Master, you... are you alright?" The old steward looked at Yu Manfang, his expression hesitant.
"I’m fine." Slowly opening his eyes and seeing the group before him, Yu Manfang shook his head lightly. "That brat... he self-destructed."
"What? He actually..." The old steward surveyed the area. Traces of the earlier battle still lingered, and the air carried a strange smell.
"However, just before he self-destructed, I snapped his neck. Thus, the power of his self-destruction was greatly diminished. After all, a Profound Level self-destruction isn’t something to joke about."
Yu Manfang’s face suddenly broke into a grin. "Though it’s a bit unsatisfying, I’ve avenged Little Zhe."
"Congratulations, Master!"
Several Yu Family members immediately chimed in.
"We came here for revenge in the first place. Originally, we also planned to seize this city as a new base of operations. But now, it seems that’s no longer possible."
An insidious look flickered across Yu Manfang’s face as he continued, "Old Ji, one day, I’ll repay this humiliation you’ve caused me!"
"Master, what should we do now?" the old steward asked.
"Return." Yu Manfang shook his head. "After this, I’ve realized that the Enchanted World is still more suited to people like us. The outside world has its own rules, and by comparison, we martial artists are better off playing by our own."
"Master is absolutely correct!"
Standing slowly, Yu Manfang glanced back at Linchuan in the distance. Though his heart burned with unwillingness, he knew it was time for him to leave.
...
"They’ve left?"
"Yes, they’ve left. It seems they’re heading in the same direction they came from."
Hearing this, Catherine let out a long sigh of relief.
The others seated in the conference room began to smile as well.
"It’s finally over," Alice remarked, patting her chest in relief.
To everyone’s astonishment, the self-destructed Li Chen was now sitting in that very conference room.
And judging by his appearance, he seemed completely unharmed.
"Is this what they call exploiting their lack of knowledge?" Li Chen’s expression was somewhat strange. It was only now that he fully understood just how miraculous the technology left by the Ghost King was.
It essentially granted one infinite lives!
In situations like this, a clone could be sent to die, while the real person remained safe, observing events from afar.
"Honestly, this time it’s all thanks to Alice," Li Chen said, shaking his head. "While the clone project had been set in motion long ago, I didn’t expect you to have everything prepared in advance."
"Boss, you personally gave the orders for this. How could I possibly slack off?" Alice said with a laugh, patting the stack of files in her hands.
"I agree that the main credit this time should go to Alice," Catherine added with a smile.
"Will there be a reward?" Alice teased, grinning slyly.
"How about a passionate kiss?" Catherine winked playfully.
"Sure thing." Alice flirtatiously fluttered her eyelashes at Li Chen.
"Ahem!" Li Chen coughed violently, then awkwardly stood up. "I’ve got something to take care of. Excuse me!"
As Li Chen hastily fled, the two women burst into laughter.
They found it most amusing to see the usually composed and cold Lord Nether King in such a flustered state.
