Chapter 771: Chapter 743: Monster!

"Alert!"

Li Chen issued the command the instant he realized the gravity of the situation.

No matter what the opposing creature was, he was prepared to take action, but before doing so, Li Chen felt it was best to first ascertain exactly what they were dealing with.

Once upstairs, Li Chen instructed Lisa to hide well and left a member of the Nether Army to watch over her. Only then did he approach a window in one of the rooms and quietly lifted a corner of the curtain to peek outside.

The sound of the bell continued for a while before gradually quieting down.

The town, although devoid of pedestrians, occasionally still had some noise coming from inside the houses.

But at this moment, the town had become a true dead town, completely silent without a single sound.

The only sound, if any, was the gentle rustling of the evening breeze.

Li Chen and Ning Wangyang each stood at one side of the window, observing the movement on the streets below.

Soon, Li Chen’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Within his field of view, a creature walking upright on two legs gradually emerged from the darkness.

Although the creature walked on two feet, Li Chen was almost certain it was not human.

It was covered with a layer of hair that no human possessed, and its arms were disproportionately longer than normal, dangling to its knees as it walked with a slight hunchback.

"What kind of monster is this?" Ning Wangyang also could not help but frown and said.

Although he had faced many monsters in Linchuan, those creatures could at best be described as powerful animals they had never seen before.

But this creature surpassed the category of animals, to his eyes, it was completely a somewhat deformed monster.

"Let’s not rush to take action, observe for a while," Li Chen said.

"Okay!" Ning Wangyang nodded.

The monster walked along the street, continually scanning its surroundings as if searching for something—or perhaps, hunting!

Its arms might resemble those of humans, but they were equipped with sharp claws that humans could never possess, their appearance alone was startling.

Li Chen kept a close watch on the monster, speechless.

"Hiss—hiss—"

From the monster’s mouth came a strange, hissing sound. Although Li Chen did not understand the meaning of this noise, inexplicably, upon hearing it, an odd agitation arose within him.

"What kind of power is this?" Li Chen and Ning Wangyang caught each other’s eye from not far away, both seeing a hint of astonishment in the other’s gaze.

Although the sound did not affect them greatly, it had to be said that the power was indeed quite peculiar.

Soon, Li Chen heard barking from a distant house.

The sound was frantic, as if the dog had been driven mad by some disturbance, barking wildly nonstop.

Hearing this noise, the monster turned its head and began to slowly make its way toward the house from which the barking emanated.

"Prepare yourself, we may need to take action soon," Li Chen said coolly, watching the monster approach the house.

"Okay!" Ning Wangyang responded, then turned and left the room to notify the other members of the Nether Army.

In Li Chen’s view, the monster approached the house at an unhurried pace.

It seemed to appraise the house from top to bottom, then paced around the building a bit.

Suddenly, the monster’s body halted, and it charged straight toward the house.

"Boom!"

With a loud crash, the monster actually burst through the window and entered the house.

As the monster charged into the house, cries of terror erupted from within.

Li Chen’s gaze flickered as he opened the window and leapt out.

"Attack!"

Behind Li Chen, Ning Wangyang and others had been waiting at the door. Following Li Chen’s command, they all charged toward the house where the monster had struck.

Aside from the two from the Nether Army Li Chen had intentionally left to protect Lisa, everyone else followed Li Chen to the house the monster had attacked.

Looking at the smashed window, Li Chen didn’t hesitate and jumped right into the house.

The living room was rather dark since no lights were on.

But this had no effect on Li Chen at all.

Turning his head, Li Chen saw in the darkness the monster pressing down on a dog, its sharp teeth biting into the dog’s neck, and in the corner of the room, a man was crouching as if paralyzed by fear, not daring to move an inch.

Upon seeing Li Chen and his group suddenly burst in, the monster seemed annoyed and released its grip on the dog, turning its gaze toward Li Chen and letting out a hissing roar.

As it hissed, blood was still dripping from its mouth.

This monster had been sucking the dog’s blood just before.

"A bloodsucking creature?" Li Chen’s eyes narrowed slightly.

The next moment, the creature actually stood up on its own.

Initially, because of the distance, Li Chen hadn’t seen it clearly, but now he realized that the monster was nearly two meters tall when standing up.

"Ah!!" The man cowering in the corner screamed in terror upon seeing the monster stand up.

As Li Chen’s gaze shifted toward him, the monster lunged at Li Chen with great speed.

"Trying a sneak attack?" A cold smile appeared on Li Chen’s face as he watched the monster’s sharp Claws reaching for his head, and he reached out with one hand.

"Crack!"

The monster’s Claws were caught in Li Chen’s hand.

The monster was fast, but that was only in comparison to ordinary people. Was Li Chen an ordinary person?

"Not bad strength." Feeling the struggling strength in his hand, Li Chen nodded slightly.

In the next moment, Li Chen’s palm suddenly exerted force.

"Crack!"

Li Chen crushed the monster’s wrist.

Feeling the excruciating pain, the monster couldn’t help but roar and opened its mouth wide, aiming a bite at Li Chen.

"Humph!"

Li Chen snorted coldly. Facing the biting monster without fear, he raised his arm and punched toward the monster’s mouth.

"Bang!"

Li Chen’s fist connected squarely with the monster’s lower jaw.

The monster’s gaping mouth was forcibly shut by Li Chen’s punch.

The teeth, top and bottom, also shattered as the mouth was violently closed.

The monster let out a muffled moan and, in a desperate attempt, broke free from the grasp of Li Chen’s hand and turned to run.

"Quite clever." Li Chen smirked coldly, "But it’s too late."

"Swoosh!"

A flash of sword light passed by.

The head slowly slid off from the monster’s neck.
