Chapter 242: Chapter 220 Why Don’t You Walk Shoulder to Shoulder with the Sun
Watching this scene, Li Chen never expected that Bella would be such a perfect candidate for sabotaging her own teammates, but he liked it.
"What’s there to be afraid of? Aren’t you guys going to come clean with each other tonight? I’m just warming you up." Bella laughed heartily.
Audrey’s face flushed, and she pulled up her skirt.
Then, the three of them changed their clothes and began to play games, but Li Chen was distracted.
A few dozen minutes later, Li Chen left and returned to his safe house. He checked the information that Chu Pojun and the others had sent over but found no news.
After the Ghost King and Shadow escaped from the manor, they hid like mice, making it difficult to get any information about them again.
With nothing else to do, he went to Kelly’s Bar.
Kelly’s Bar, after several days, had fixed the damage from that day’s destruction, looking as if there had never been a battle.
Inside Kelly’s Bar, there were already a lot of people soaking up the nightlife, with music playing non-stop and the dance floor filled with self-indulgent girls and guys looking to hook up.
Li Chen wasn’t in the mood for the dance floor and went straight to the bar. Before he even spoke, Tove saw that it was Li Chen and directly took out a bottle of fine liquor from underneath.
Tove poured Li Chen a drink and then carefully placed it in front of him.
Li Chen took a sip and found the taste to be rather good. At that moment, a languid voice rang out.
"This liquor costs 180,000 a bottle, and it’s charged." Kelly came over, her dyed red hair combed to one side, fierce flames red lips, her earrings shimmering, and today she was wearing a red short skirt, even more enchanting.
Kelly grabbed the liquor and poured herself a glass.
Li Chen shrugged, "I’m broke recently, why don’t I use myself as collateral?"
"Okay." Kelly’s lips curved into a slight smile, "Adding the information I sold to you last time, you might as well be mine."
Li Chen’s lips quirked up slightly, and his hand reached out directly to Kelly, but Kelly subtly brushed it aside, smiling, "You’re mine, but I’m not yours."
"Is there a difference?"
"Of course." Kelly sat down next to Li Chen, smiling, "Mine need to work for me. Let’s say you owe me this one, and I’ll call on you next time I need something."
Li Chen was speechless, feeling like Kelly was treating him like one of her black subordinates.
"Then let’s forget about it." Li Chen shook his head, "I can’t afford this favor. I’ll have someone bring over a few checks someday."
Kelly bit her lip, looking at Li Chen with a gaze full of mystique, appearing so pitiable.
"Don’t look at me like that, unless," Li Chen leaned in, gazing at Kelly, "you want to sleep with me."
Kelly stepped back, her expression disappearing, and then she smiled, "You probably can’t handle it."
Then, Kelly turned away, leaving behind a remark, "Tove, put this bottle on his tab, 500,000."
Tove was somewhat stunned. What’s going on? Weren’t Sister Kelly and the King of the Netherworld on good terms?
But Tove didn’t dare to neglect the order, as it was something Sister Kelly had entrusted him with.
Li Chen shrugged. This woman was indeed faster at changing faces than flipping a book. Despite Kelly’s seductive demeanor just now, if someone inexperienced encountered her, they’d easily be spun around by her tricks.
This kind of woman could be said to be extremely dangerous, but it was this kind of woman who survived alone in a place like Vancouver, where gangs roamed, and even developed a very distinctive bar, neutral, selling only information.
One could say Kelly was also a formidable character, just her sources of information alone proved her to have an extremely wide network.
So, for this kind of woman, Li Chen was just speaking casually. It was impossible to expect a few words to make her throw herself into his arms.
Li Chen continued to drink the glass of alcohol before him. Alcohol was a good thing, but he seldom drank because of Third Grandpa’s teachings; he only drank a little when it was necessary for medicinal purposes.
Not much later, a white man with a hawk nose walked in. This man was extraordinarily robust, even more so than some black men.
The white man walked over to the bar, ordered a drink, then glanced around, his eyes lighting up when he spotted Kelly not far away.
A smile appeared on his lips as he walked over. That woman was quite beautiful.
"May I join you for a drink?" The white man asked Kelly, approaching with greed in his eyes, clearly relishing the thought of having her in bed—that’s where it would be thrilling.
Kelly’s gaze turned slightly cold, but she replied with a slight smile, "Sure, but you have to beat them first."
With that, Kelly clapped her hands and two black men came forward, standing behind the white man.
The hawk-nosed man smiled faintly and readily accepted the challenge. He had faced off against the European Boxing Champion; how could he be afraid of some local bar’s bouncers?
The hawk-nosed man wasn’t local; in fact, he had just arrived in Vancouver that evening and was unaware of the reputation of Kelly’s Bar.
Kelly continued to drink, but to her surprise, the white man was swiftly able to knock down the two black men.
Initially thinking the man was merely insignificant, Kelly had casually tasked him with defeating her subordinates. She didn’t expect him to be so capable, placing her in an awkward situation.
The white man looked at Kelly with a grin! To him, these bodyguards were strong, but still too weak for his liking.
The white man poured a drink and pushed it towards Kelly with a light smile.
"Drink!"
Looking at Kelly, she responded with a faint smile, pushing the drink aside, "May I ask where you come from?"
"My origin is not important," the white man replied, "What’s important is the promise you just made."
"Drinking this glass of alcohol isn’t a big deal," said Kelly calmly, "but I don’t drink with strangers whose backgrounds I’m unaware of."
"Are you going back on your word?" The man frowned, his eyes flashing sharply. "Then I might have to take it by force."
"I didn’t say I wouldn’t fulfill it," Kelly replied with a faint smile, took up the glass, and drank it all in one go. Then, she turned the glass upside down to show she had finished.
"Alright, I’ve drunk the drink, so my promise is fulfilled. I have some things to attend to, so I won’t keep you company any longer. Enjoy your drink," Kelly said with a faint smile as she stood up to leave.
At that moment, the white man also stood up, blocking Kelly’s path.
"Hey, don’t be in such a rush to leave." The white man smiled slightly. "The drink isn’t finished yet, and besides, don’t you think we make a good match?"
"Oh? Do we? I didn’t notice that," Kelly said, her tone growing colder. This man really didn’t know when to give up.
"You’ll see soon," the hawk-nosed man laughed heartily. "I’ll be straightforward—I’m taken with you. How about you spend the night with me?"
"Sorry, I’m not interested in going out with you," Kelly stated flatly.
"That won’t do," the hawk-nosed man said, stepping to the side and blocking Kelly again. "You don’t know me well enough yet—once you do, you’ll fall for me."
Kelly almost rolled her eyes; who had filled him with such confidence? Boasting so much, why didn’t he fly to the sky? Or stand shoulder to shoulder with the sun?
Meanwhile, Li Chen still sat there, sipping his drink indifferently. Without turning around, he could tell by the voices alone what was happening over by Kelly, but what did it have to do with him? Kelly had just mentioned that their relationship was purely a business partnership. Since it was all about business, it was business talk, and as it had nothing to do with him, he shouldn’t meddle unnecessarily.
