Chapter 238: Chapter 216: The Mysterious Energy

Li Chen nodded, and Zu Gu and the others came over. Seeing Li Chen’s state, they couldn’t help but jump, "Boss, what happened to you?"

William replied, irritated, "Of course, it was a tough battle. Just take care of yourself."

"How do I not take care of myself?" Zu Gu retorted, "Are you challenging me to a duel?"

William turned away, too lazy to pay him any attention.

Li Chen said, "Gather the bodies of our fallen brothers and bury them. As for this place, set it on fire and burn it."

The Nether Wolves and others began to sort out the bodies. Their trip to Horton Manor had been in vain after all.

...

After returning, Li Chen frowned, feeling the energy from his injury start to stir faintly within him again.

Back in his room, his body seemed to become even more rampant, and Li Chen hurriedly stripped off his clothes, inserting Silver Needles into his body, then took out two pills refined by Third Grandpa and swallowed them both at once.

This injury energy was extremely strange and difficult for Li Chen to control. Previously, he could only barely suppress it, and that was with the use of Substance Z.

However, if it weren’t for the sudden outburst of this energy, Li Chen might have died in the secret chamber just before.

And now, this energy was rampaging uncontrollably again.

Now that he thought about it carefully, Li Chen realized this energy was extremely peculiar. Once, Li Chen had been on a mission at the mouth of a volcano, fighting fiercely against the former top expert of the Main God Ranking. Although Li Chen killed him, the expert had still left him with injuries.

And the energy within his body appeared at that time. He had thought this sudden appearance of energy was due to his injuries, but now that he thought it over, that wasn’t right at all.

No injury could remain inside him for so long and be so powerful that it was seemingly impossible to remove. At that time, his strength had not reached the Main God Ranking but was also not too weak. And that top-ranked expert could not possibly be so powerful.

Thus, it was apparent this energy had appeared suddenly within him.

Realizing this, Li Chen couldn’t help but frown. What exactly was this energy, why couldn’t he control it, and moreover, even when he used the Mysterious Technique, he couldn’t absorb it.

The sudden eruption today made Li Chen aware that this energy was even more powerful than he had imagined, and he had always underestimated it. But he couldn’t control it; having something akin to a time bomb inside his body made Li Chen extremely uneasy.

The outburst in the secret chamber earlier had been too powerful, forcing the blood in his body out. Although this incident fortuitously expelled the toxins he had absorbed, if this were to happen regularly, it could potentially cripple his body.

This kind of energy was a hidden danger. If Li Chen could control it, then his strength could climb to an even higher level!

His grandfathers knew a bit about this situation but had not yet told Li Chen.

Feeling the energy becoming more rampant inside his body, with his True Qi barely able to suppress it, Li Chen quickly took out a porcelain bottle and swallowed two more pills.

As the pills refined by Third Grandpa reached his stomach, the violent energy instantly seemed harmonized, becoming extremely gentle and gradually receding.

After a while, Li Chen exhaled and opened his eyes; the energy and True Qi within his body were finally at peace.

Feeling slightly better, Li Chen took a shower and then went out to clear his mind.

Today’s events were indeed regrettable. He was still thinking about the energy inside his body. If it hadn’t erupted in the secret chamber, he would have died, but it was also because of this energy that he had let Shadow escape.

It truly was a case of fortune and disaster interwoven.

Pedestrians passed by Li Chen on the street, talking and laughing.

Surrounded by the laughter of others, Li Chen’s mood brightened a little. Just then, his eyes narrowed, locking onto a girl ahead.

Audrey? What a coincidence?

Li Chen was surprised, and at that moment, Audrey noticed him too. Without hesitating, a smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.

Audrey jogged up to Li Chen, and as she was about to speak, she realized she didn’t know his name.

"What a coincidence," Li Chen said with a slight smile.

"Yeah," Audrey nodded vigorously, looking at Li Chen. "I didn’t expect to meet you here; we must be fated."

Li Chen looked at Audrey, remembering that night, he almost devoured her. Now, thinking back, the touch was indeed quite pleasant.

"Let’s go have a coffee together," Audrey offered.

Li Chen naturally wouldn’t refuse, and the two headed to a coffee shop.

Sitting down and ordering their coffee, Audrey started, "It seems we haven’t introduced ourselves."

"I know your name is Audrey, a beautiful name," Li Chen said with a slight smile, "My name is Li Chen."

"Li Chen, are you feeling any better now?" Audrey asked, her beautiful eyes gazing at him.

Li Chen smiled and took a sip of his coffee, "Much better. Your help that night was very useful. If you could help me again, I think I would improve a lot."

As soon as she finished speaking, Audrey also laughed a little. The incident from that night was still fresh in her mind; she had thought that she and Li Chen might take things further that night, but the last step never materialized as he suddenly disappeared.

But was the implication of Li Chen’s words that they could actually do "that"?

Audrey blinked and asked, "So when will you have time? I’m available anytime."

It was a blatant suggestion.

Li Chen gave a faint smile, took hold of Audrey’s hand, leaned in closer, and said, "I think tonight should work. Audrey, do you want to come over?"

"Really?" Audrey’s eyes shone with delight. Foreign girls are naturally bold and enthusiastic, and her expression and intentions couldn’t be more obvious.

Ready for a rendezvous anytime!

Li Chen winked and added, "Besides, I’ll have another way to make my body recover faster tonight, and we can try that out."

"What way?" Audrey asked curiously.

Li Chen leaned in close to Audrey and whispered something in her ear. After hearing it, Audrey couldn’t help but laugh, seeming a bit shy but also somewhat agreeing.

Seeing no one around, a lascivious thought crossed Li Chen’s mind, and he placed one hand on Audrey’s thigh.

Audrey’s body tensed, she looked at Li Chen but didn’t reject him.

"Your body is in great shape," Li Chen complimented as his hand felt the amazing elasticity of Audrey’s thigh. Audrey, in turn, looked at Li Chen and took the initiative to kiss him, their lips meeting unexpectedly and startling Li Chen.

When it comes to openness, foreign girls take the lead, no question about it.

Audrey’s gaze became incredibly hot and aggressive as she looked at Li Chen, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. She had made her hints, surely he must understand her feelings now?

A mischievous smile appeared on Li Chen’s lips as he leaned in closer, "Audrey, there’s something I need to tell you."

Audrey was puzzled but, all of a sudden, Li Chen wrapped his arm around her neck and kissed her lips forcefully.

Audrey was taken aback for just a second before responding with passion. The two of them kissed intensely in the middle of the café, with steam rising from their coffees on the table. The other patrons, witnessing the scene, simply smiled.

In this country, public displays of affection are all too common.

Just then, a woman’s voice exclaimed, "Wow, Audrey, is this your new boyfriend?"

At the sound, Audrey quickly pulled away from Li Chen, her face beet red.

Li Chen looked up to see two girls standing by, both bubbly with youth, who appeared to be Audrey’s classmates.

Li Chen smiled politely, "Hello."

The two girls greeted Li Chen before sitting down and teasing, "Didn’t see that coming, Audrey. You moved fast, and you’ve found a handsome one at that."

Li Chen, hearing compliments about his looks to his face, touched his nose. As for being handsome, he was already trying to be low-key; why must everyone mention it upon meeting him? Oh, the trouble.

"Come on, Bella," said Audrey, "what would you like to drink?"

"The drink isn’t important, you need to tell us how you two met." The two friends looked at Audrey, their curiosity ablaze.

Li Chen sipped his coffee, deciding it was best to stay out of the girls’ conversation.

"It was a coincidence," Audrey said with a smile, "I’ll tell you all about it next time."

"That’s not very nice of you, Audrey. We had an agreement to stay single, and now you’ve gone and left us," another girl teased.

The three of them played around for a bit when, at that moment, a group of people walked into the café entrance. Li Chen glanced their way and saw Bob—the ex-boyfriend of Audrey he had dealt with that night.

Bob was dressed like a thug, with an arm around a girl decked out in Sha Ma Te style, surrounded by more thuggish-looking friends.

Upon entering, Bob cast a glance around the room and his eyes landed on Audrey, souring his expression instantly.

Audrey, chatting with her friends, saw Bob approaching.

"What do you want?" her demeanor chilled immediately, not wanting to see Bob ever again.

"What do I want?" Bob sneered, while his Sha Ma Te friends and the girl looked at Audrey with amusement in their eyes.

Bella and her friend frowned at Bob’s gaze, "Audrey has already broken up with you, what else do you want?"

"Nothing, I just came to check on this ****," Bob said coolly, his left arm still around his girl’s shoulder.

The coldness in Li Chen’s gaze deepened upon hearing Bob’s words, and Bella and her friend became angry.

"You’d better watch your language," Bella shouted, "What right do you have to show your face after what you did?"
