Chapter 227: Chapter 205: Return of the King of the Netherworld
With a press of Li Chen’s finger, instantly, an extremely terrifying pattern appeared above the bar.
The entire pattern looked like a blood-drenched hand, but upon closer inspection, it was actually the silhouette of a person with their back turned to the crowd.
The exclusive mark of the King of the Netherworld!
Seeing this mark is as good as seeing the King of the Netherworld himself!
Li Chen released his hand and said indifferently, "If anyone is looking for me, tell them to wait here for me."
After saying this, Li Chen walked straight out of the bar.
Kelly took a puff of smoke and watched Li Chen’s figure disappear into the distance, murmuring to herself, "Looks like this is going to be another losing deal."
...
The next day, Vancouver.
At the back door of an ordinary supermarket, the boss was scolding a particularly burly strongman.
"Why are you dawdling?" the boss said, waving a newspaper in his hand as if he were about to strike the strongman’s face with it.
In reality, the boss was only acting tough. When this strongman had come looking for a job, the boss had taken one look at his simple-minded appearance and decided to fully exploit his physical strength.
At that moment, the strongman was carrying dozens of bags of goods all by himself.
This strongman was a black man, taller than Zhong Tian, and seemingly more robust than Zhong Tian as well.
Dressed in nothing but a tank top and shouldering those dozens of bags, he moved with effortless ease, but his face remained expressionless.
The strongman ignored the boss, concentrating solely on his work.
Watching the strongman pass by, the boss frowned and said, "Seriously, if you don’t start working properly, I’m docking your pay next week."
The boss turned around only to be startled by the sudden appearance of a young man in front of him.
"What do you want?"
Li Chen ignored him, gazing at the strongman with a slight smile on his lips, "Quentin, it’s time to go."
Just a simple sentence left the boss confused, and he immediately shouted, "What madness is this? Get out of here!"
But the black strongman’s gaze suddenly became sharp, his face breaking into a brilliant smile. A man who had seemed utterly listless was suddenly bursting with life, like plants blossoming after a spring rain.
"Snap"
The black strongman casually dropped the cargo, the massive noise startling the boss. He turned his head to see Quentin’s actions and couldn’t help but shout loudly, "What the hell are you... Ah!"
Caught off guard, the Caucasian boss panicked as the black man simply picked him up with one hand and, like throwing away trash, fiercely flung him against the wall.
Then, turning towards Li Chen, Quentin knelt on one knee and gave a solid thump to his chest with his left hand!
"Nether Army Five Commander—Black Giant Quentin, at your service, King of the Netherworld!"
His declaration was categorical and resonant. As Quentin looked up at the smiling Li Chen, a fervent adoration filled his eyes.
Quentin, one of the Five Commanders of the Nether Army under the King of the Netherworld, was powerful and had once led the Nether Army to sweep through other factions, helping Li Chen conquer North America!
But Quentin never forgot that it was Li Chen who had saved him from enslavement in Africa, standing in front of him to block the enemy’s attacks—the man who had saved his life. It was then that he had sworn loyalty to him for life!
When the Palace of the Nether King was breached, Quentin believed that Li Chen would return, and when that time came, he, Quentin, would once again become the King’s invincible spear, sweeping away all enemies!
Li Chen smiled faintly, "Come with me."
Afterward, Li Chen turned and left, and Quentin stood up and followed, while the Caucasian boss watched Quentin leave with an incredulous look on his face. Losing Quentin was a major blow; he could do the work of five men, and his wages could be docked besides. Where could he find such a good employee again?
"Hey, come back, I won’t dock your pay!"
The Caucasian boss yelled, but to no avail.
...
Vancouver, on a rooftop in a residential area.
"Swoosh"
A bright light flashed as an exceedingly fast and small dagger flew out, slicing through a can hanging over a hundred meters away. In an instant, the can was cleaved in two.
Wielding the hidden weapon was a stunning woman clad in a black, tight leather top and pants, with an extraordinarily voluptuous figure, her front assets in particular could be aptly described as "busty." Her entire body exuded a deadly aura.
Her long hair, reaching to her waist, was dyed a bright red, which, paired with her black leather outfit, gave her a distinct personality. Yet, if one were to see her face from the front, they would be shocked!
Right beside her left eye, a scar trailed downwards to her cheek, looking extremely terrifying!
One of the Nether Army’s Five Commanders, Nether Princess!
The only woman among the Five Commanders of the Nether Army is also the one not to be underestimated. In fact, her level of danger is higher than that of the other four commanders!
And aside from Li Chen, basically, no one can tame her.
In the hands of the Nether Princess, she held her specially made weapon, which resembled a pair of rings, divided into upper and lower layers, each layer forged into extremely sharp blades. She held one ring in each hand, and at the end of each ring’s handle was a very thin thread tied to her, meaning the Nether Princess could control the flight of the rings in the air, even making them return after reaching behind an enemy, seizing the moment to decapitate her foe when they least expected it!
Clinging to the Twin Rings, the Nether Princess suddenly lunged forward, her steps spinning as she danced crazily, her rings whirling through the air, and amidst the graceful movements, a murderous intent emerged.
At that moment, the Nether Princess’s glare turned icy, her eyes to the approaching staircase. Then, with a flick of her right hand, one ring flew towards it, its sharp blade seemingly capable of slicing through the air.
Simultaneously, a figure ascended the staircase. Upon seeing the incoming ring, he raised his right arm to block it, and instantly, the ring clashed against his arm, sparking a shower of Mars and producing a sound like metal striking metal.
Quentin’s arm was covered in special metal, hence it was not afraid of the Nether Princess’s ring.
The Nether Princess gave a slight tug, and the ring flew back into her possession. Staring at the ascending Quentin, she coldly said, "Shouldn’t you be stacking groceries in the convenience store instead of bothering me up here?"
Quentin snorted, "Next time, could you at least make sure who the target is before attacking?"
"Those I know have the capability to block it. Those who don’t, won’t end up here," the Nether Princess retorted, as she slipped the rings into the inner side of her leather jacket and stepped forward, "Spit it out if you have something to say, or I’ll drag out your group from the Nether Army for some training."
"Train all you want; although my team isn’t what it used to be in numbers, I’ve never been scared of you," Quentin was angry too.
The Nether Princess turned her head away disdainfully. Her Nether Army was special, consisting entirely of women, and aside from the Nether King and herself, no one could command them, let alone know what they looked like or did.
But her team was the strongest.
Quentin was somewhat stifled but didn’t argue with the Nether Princess, who was always like this – and besides, she was a woman.
"The master has returned," Quentin said.
The Nether Princess’s body stiffened, then her eyes lit up.
"The King of the Netherworld has returned?" the Nether Princess asked again.
"Why else would I come find you?" Quentin replied.
"So, the moment for revenge has finally come?" a slight smile curled the corners of the Nether Princess’s mouth, and she licked her lips, seemingly longing for the taste of her enemies’ blood after a long absence.
...
These past few days, Li Chen had been gathering his former subordinates, starting with the initial group including Quentin and then extending to others, you could say the original subordinates were rapidly consolidating.
Meanwhile, at Kelly’s Bar, Tove was mixing drinks. It wasn’t nighttime yet, so there weren’t many customers.
Just then, a person dressed entirely in black and wearing a black hat sat in front.
"What’ll you have?"
Tove didn’t even glance up.
"Who carved this seal?" the person raised their head, revealing a starkly pale young man of Huaxia descent, even younger than Li Chen, probably not yet twenty years old. His complexion was morbidly white, contrasting sharply against his black clothes.
"Last night a customer left that," Tove answered honestly. "He said someone could wait here for him."
Hearing this, a faint smile appeared on the young man’s lips, "He’s finally back."
Ye Tu, one of the Three Envoys of the Nether King, possessed tremendous strength that was terrifying; however, what outsiders didn’t know was that Ye Tu was born with a terminal illness, and it was Li Chen who helped nurture his health and taught him martial arts—Li Chen was the closest person to him!
Li Chen’s forces were actually quite extensive. Inside the Palace of the Nether King, one could further divide into the Three Envoys, Five Commanders, Eight Great Nether Generals, and the Shadow. These figures were the key pillars of the Palace of the Nether King!
As long as these people survived, the Palace of the Nether King continued to exist!
...
Several days later, on the second floor of Kelly’s Bar.
Kelly frowned, "You should know that this second floor isn’t for just anyone. I’ll let it go this time, but next time you come up, I’ll charge you a fee."
"Understood," Li Chen said with a light smile.
Kelly looked at the nearly full second floor and helplessly went back down; there was nothing she could do as Li Chen had made her bar a stronghold, and she was out of options.
Li Chen stood at the front, with Quentin, the Nether Princess, and another person orderly standing before him. Behind them stood additional people, and right behind Li Chen, Ye Tu stood respectfully in his all-black clothing.
Next to Ye Tu, there was a man looking rather disheveled and down-and-out, carrying a sword on his back—of the kind used in ancient Huaxia.
One of the Three Envoys of the Nether King, Ning Wangyang!
Ning Wangyang was a Sword Lunatic whom Li Chen met just as he came down from the mountains. They fought for three days and nights, developing a mutual respect. From then on, Ning Wangyang followed Li Chen and had stayed in the Palace of the Nether King ever since, though he was too lazy to care about anything other than swords and killing.
Li Chen did not speak, his gaze sweeping over the crowd. These were the people who had escaped.
"I’m back," Li Chen said with a smile, uttering these simple words.
