Chapter 220: Chapter 198 Kelly’s Intelligence
Li Chen acted as if nothing had happened, sat back down, and then picked up his glass, but Tove at the bar and everyone on the dance floor were already dumbstruck.
One against more than twenty, and against black men at that, this guy was impossibly cool.
"Oh, I want to make love with him," a girl with stars in her eyes said, the meaning of which was similar to saying I want to have his babies.
Just as Li Chen was about to drink, a round of applause suddenly burst forth.
"Clap, clap, clap..."
Looking up, Li Chen saw a woman with flamboyantly revealing attire and curly red hair descending the stairs, holding a glass of red wine in her hand.
Curls of red hair, a pair of red high heels.
Her entire outfit made her look extremely coquettish, hot, and mature—an ordinary man without enough willpower might have wanted to worship at the hem of her dress.
Upon seeing this woman, Tove and the others showed respectful expressions in their eyes—it was Kelly, the boss of Kelly’s Bar.
Li Chen watched Kelly descend, his eyes devoid of any emotional fluctuation.
A flicker of surprise crossed the depths of Kelly’s eyes as she carried her red wine and slowly walked towards Li Chen.
"You’re not the first person I’ve seen who can fight like this," Kelly said after sipping her red wine, placing it on the bar. Tove quickly took out a prized bottle of red wine to top it off.
"Oh really?" Li Chen replied indifferently.
Kelly leaned in close to Li Chen, peering into his eyes with a glint of puzzlement that quickly vanished, her lips curving into a slight smile, "I, Kelly, have seen more things than you can imagine."
"That, I don’t deny."
In fact, Kelly knew Li Chen—back when he was the King of the Netherworld, they had crossed paths. However, Li Chen was currently using the Art of Disguise, so Kelly had not recognized him at first.
Kelly smiled seductively and then said to the black men, "All of you, get out. Go practice your skills and make sure you don’t get beaten next time."
Hearing her words, the black men all began to back away, while Kelly gave Li Chen another glance.
"Little brother, what business do you have with your sister here?" Kelly breathed almost directly into Li Chen’s ear.
"I’m here to gather intelligence," Li Chen replied without any politeness.
Kelly suddenly sat up straight and said coldly, "If you dare touch me again, I’ll chop you up and throw you out."
Leaning in, Li Chen spoke with a teasing tone, "Aren’t Kelly’s rules to not care about a patron’s background and just to focus on business?"
At Li Chen’s words, Kelly smiled faintly, "Indeed, so, what do you want to ask?"
Li Chen leaned back and said quietly, "Do you know what the situation is like at the Palace of the Nether King now?"
At that question, a glint of sharpness flashed in Kelly’s eyes; she could now confirm who the man before her was. No wonder he felt so familiar.
Kelly chuckled, her body trembling slightly, "I didn’t expect you to come back at such a time. How interesting."
After another sip of red wine, Kelly spoke slowly, "The Palace of the Nether King is now a shadow of its former self. Not long ago, the Ghost King led his forces in a surprise attack on the palace, and it’s been under his control ever since. What do you think is left of the palace now?"
Kelly smiled, stood up from Li Chen’s side, holding her wine while circling around Li Chen.
"Logically speaking, the Palace of the Nether King shouldn’t have been so easily taken down, but surprisingly, it fell within a day. If I’m not mistaken, there must’ve been a betrayal within, am I right, King of the Netherworld?"
The last sentence was whispered right into Li Chen’s ear, her voice barely audible.
Li Chen replied indifferently, "Correct, her name is Shadow."
Seeing Li Chen’s acknowledgment, Kelly smiled faintly, "Now, the masters of the Palace of the Nether King are either dead or wounded, those who could betray have already done so, and those who remained loyal either fled or were killed. The Palace of the Nether King is finished."
After hearing Kelly’s words, although Li Chen remained calm on the surface, a storm of murderous intent raged within him.
The Ghost King must indeed have some tricks up his sleeve, attacking precisely when he was away. Although Li Chen had anticipated it, he hadn’t expected such a disastrous outcome. And there was Shadow—if not for Shadow’s betrayal, would the Palace of the Nether King have fallen so easily?
"Do you know where the Ghost King is?" Li Chen glanced at Kelly, who replied with a coquettish smile, "You know my rules. If I told you, wouldn’t I be offending the Ghost King? How could I continue to run my bar? I can’t discuss information that’s too dangerous."
Kelly chatted casually with Li Chen when a black man approached and whispered something in her ear.
Kelly nodded, gesturing for him to leave, then smiled at Li Chen saying, "It seems the Ghost King has some formidable means after all; he’s already sent people to wait outside."
Li Chen wasn’t surprised that the Ghost King knew of his whereabouts but sending people so quickly was somewhat unexpected.
"Understood," Li Chen nodded, then stood up.
