My Fortune-Blessed Leading Lady
Chapter 408: "I Love You" "I Love You Too

Chapter 408: Chapter 408: "I Love You" "I Love You Too

When Si Er saw that the expression on Yuran’s face was becoming more and more painful, she stepped forward and patted Bo Yan on the shoulder, "Let go of her, let her lie down, she’s feeling terrible."

In his panic, Bo Yan carefully laid Yuran on the bed. Yuran tried hard to make her expression look more normal, in an effort to ease Bo Yan’s worries.

But the pain of childbirth is truly unbearable, as if being torn apart bit by bit.

She was drenched in sweat, her complexion pale, her lips turning purple.

Bo Yan’s hands trembled as he paced anxiously beside her, "Si Er, you must think of something quickly."

With a calm face, Si Huang looked silently at Bo Yan, "Right now, Yuran cannot choose. The decision rests in your hands, cesarean or natural birth?"

Bo Yan pressed his lips tightly together, "What’s the difference?"

Si Er replied, "Giving birth is never easy. No matter which option you choose, it will be suffering for Yuran."

Bo Yan was silent...

He couldn’t make a choice. If possible, he would rather endure this agony on her behalf. It was precisely because he couldn’t that he felt even more heartache for Yuran.

"Go for the cesarean," Si Huang suggested. "With natural birth, she might not be able to deliver."

Bo Yan couldn’t enter the operating room—Yuran had insisted on this. Bo Yan stared at her sweaty little face, his eyes filled with a crimson intensity, "Baby."

Yuran smiled faintly, licking her lips, "Xiaoqi, come in with me. I’ll be nervous."

As the doors to the operating room closed, Bo’s mother approached Bo Yan, patting him gently on the shoulder, "Xiaoqi, it’ll be okay... the baby..."

"Mom."

Bo Yan stared at the words "In Operation" and suddenly called out to his mother.

Bo’s mother, puzzled, looked up at her son, towering over her by a head’s height, and uttered an inquiring hmm, "What’s the matter? Why did you suddenly call me?"

Bo Yan said, "Mom, thank you, you’ve worked hard."

Bo’s mother responded, "Why are you being so formal with me all of a sudden?"

Bo Yan glanced sideways at his mother, "Mom, after Yuran gives birth this time, I don’t want to have any more children. It’s too hard on her."

Bo’s mother nodded without surprise, "You guys decide for yourselves. Do you know why our family only has you? Not like your big uncle, second uncle, and third uncle’s families, all with two children each."

This was not difficult to guess. Bo Yan chuckled, "My dad probably decided after seeing you give birth. He must not have wanted to see you go through that again."

How uninspired, Bo’s mother thought.

She smiled, "You’re just like your dad, so I won’t interfere with how many children you choose to have, or whether you choose to have any at all. You’ve made a decision, and I certainly won’t meddle.

After all, the person who will accompany you for a lifetime is your wife, not your parents. Treating your own wife well is the right thing to do."

Bo Yan felt grateful to have such progressive parents. They never forced him to do anything he didn’t like, instead offering him countless options to choose from.

It had always been like that since he was young.

Bo Yan turned and hugged his mother briefly, "Thank you, Mom."

As time passed, the anxiety in Bo Yan’s heart intensified. He paced back and forth anxiously in front of the operating room door.

Bo Qin stood aside with Bo’s senior official, and Bo Yinan had hurried over soon after Yuran was pushed into the operating room and saw Bo Yan restlessly waiting by the door.

He too went to sit beside the senior official.

Bo Yinan looked left and right at his nephews sitting beside him, his brows furrowing, "Aren’t you two busy?"

Bo Qin shook his head, "Uncle, we wanted to have a look at our new family member, to welcome them."

Bo Three, who never shied away from his parents or this strict and stern uncle, chimed in, following Bo Qin’s lead, "Yeah, Uncle, we’ve come to welcome our family’s newest member. They must see their big uncle and third uncle at first glance."

Bo Yinan, "You shameless hussy, starting now..."

Bo Qin, Bo San: "..."

Fortunately, at this very moment, a baby’s loud, robust cry came from the operating room.

The three of them stood up from their chairs with looks of surprise and joy, while Bo Yan was still anxiously staring at the operating room door. When Si Huang came out, Bo Yan rushed past him and straight into the operating room.

Si Huang turned and followed him in.

He said from behind him, "It’s fine, mother and child are safe."

But by then, Bo Yan had already knelt on one knee at Yuran’s bedside, his large hand caressing her face, gazing at her pale complexion and dry lips, then leaning down to kiss her tenderly, "Baby..."

Yuran wasn’t sure if it was her misconception, but she felt his voice was a bit hoarse, as though he was about to cry.

Yuran blinked in surprise and smiled at him, "Xiaoqi, am I amazing?"

"Amazing..." Bo Yan’s voice was somewhat choked, and his eyes were bloodshot, tears nearly shedding, "Baby, let’s not have any more kids after this. This one is enough."

Yuran was somewhat astonished but didn’t agree. No way, she still wanted to have another one.

A single child would be so lonely!

Besides, Bo Yan was so good-looking. If they could have a daughter, she would probably be very beautiful. Isn’t it said that daughters inherit their father’s looks?

The newborn was taken by the nurse to be cleaned, while Bo’s mother and the senior Bo were busy attending to things. Bo Yan, however, wasn’t focused on his son at all, but was constantly watching Yuran.

Si Huang had never seen a father like that and could only remind him, "When the anesthesia wears off, rest for a bit, help Yuran get out of bed and walk around. Lying in bed all the time isn’t good for the wound."

Bo Yan hummed in response and started asking Si Huang to leave.

When there were only the two of them left in the ward, he lifted Yuran’s hospital gown and looked at the c-section incision on her lower abdomen, his eyes turning red and glossy.

Yuran softly called out, "Xiaoqi..."

Her voice trembled.

Bo Yan’s beautifully shaped lips pressed beside her incision, expressing his relentless and uncalmed worries.

Yuran ran her fingers through his hair and whispered, "Xiaoqi, did you cry?"

Bo Yan lifted his head to meet her moist eyes. "Can’t I cry?"

Yuran shook her head, reached out to wipe the moisture from the corners of his eyes, "Of course not. Come a little closer; I have something to tell you."

Bo Yan paused for a moment, then leaned in. Yuran’s lips met his, and she bit down hard on his lower lip, "I love you."

Bo Yan’s eyes shone brightly, nearly reflective.

Yuran was actually in quite a disheveled state at the moment, with messy hair and a face full of fatigue, but in Bo Yan’s eyes, she was so beautiful it seemed against the rules.

He leaned down to her lips, planting a kiss, responding, "I love you too."

Yuran’s smile made her eyes bend into crescents, "I know."

"Pfft..."

When Bo’s mother and the others came to see Yuran, she had already been moved to the ward, and Bo Yan had quickly tidied her up to look much more spirited.

The baby was brought into the ward along with Bo’s mother and the others, without the wrinkles of a newborn soaked in amniotic fluid, looking fair and tender like a white jade dumpling.

The moment Bo Yan’s gaze fell on the child’s face, he couldn’t look away; it was the first time he saw his son face to face. Seeing his fair and tender complexion, so surprisingly quiet and well-behaved, he could distinctly hear his heart beating loudly.

In the swaddling clothes was the baby he and his treasure had created together.

A corner of his heart suddenly became incredibly soft, unimaginably so.
