My Fortune-Blessed Leading Lady
Chapter 309: Brother Qi, do you know that you’re setting up your wife?

Chapter 309: Chapter 309: Brother Qi, do you know that you’re setting up your wife?

Qi Nian thought she was going to be lectured by Yuran and felt guilty about it, but when she was asked this way, she suddenly didn’t know how to respond, "I’m fine."

Yuran led her to the basketball game’s spectator stands, found a spot to sit down, and said with a mixture of laughter and helplessness, "Giving up on translating, planning to switch careers to become a Wonder Woman?"

Qi Nian felt even more embarrassed and wanted to argue a bit, but she was no match for Yuran.

She was at a disadvantage when it came to wit.

So she muttered quietly, "Why should they insult you?"

If she couldn’t be as outstanding as others, was it wrong to strive to surpass them? Always harboring a dark heart when looking at the world.

Isn’t it exhausting?

Yuran knew the girl was pure-hearted and smiled while ruffling her head, "If others insult me, let them. We’re not close with them, so why bother caring.

Don’t worry about the matter of calling your parents; I’ll arrange it and won’t let your uncle find out.

Speaking of which, is Qi Younian that ferocious? Are you afraid he’ll kick you out?"

Qi Nian didn’t know how to explain. Under normal circumstances, Qi Younian wasn’t fierce, but he had been during that time because she was rude to Yuran. She definitely couldn’t bring that up now!

She already had little dignity in front of Yuran, how could she afford to lose even more.

But when the person Yuran had called appeared before her, Qi Nian regretted not tripping, thinking that she’d rather lose face instead.

The next day when she saw Situ Jue, Qi Nian instinctively wanted to run, but she was pulled back. Situ Jue looked down at her from above and clicked his tongue.

"Running for what?"

Qi Nian defiantly puffed up, glaring at him, "Nonsense, who’s running."

Situ Jue didn’t argue with her, but simply looked down at the direction of her feet, "Oh, the way you walk is quite unique. Are you a crab?"

You’re the crab, your whole family is crabs.

Don’t think I’ve forgotten about you teasing me in the U.S., you scoundrel, big bad guy.

For someone like Situ Jue, a socially experienced elite man who was a bit older than her, deciphering her thoughts was no difficult feat.

Because it was easy to understand, Situ Jue found it even more amusing.

"Tsk... criticizing me in your heart?"

Qi Nian’s little face turned red, she slapped away the annoying hand with a puffer fish-like puffiness, "Don’t touch me, we’re not close."

"Seeking help should come with a proper attitude."

Qi Nian: "..."

Watching the girl’s deflated attitude, the depression that had been piling up inside him eased a lot. He hadn’t expected such an advantage from her. He pinched her face and asked, "What did you do wrong?"

Qi Nian was furious, guarding her face and stepping a bit away from him, "What’s wrong with you! Don’t pinch my face, big bad guy."

Situ Jue was actually there to look for someone at Qi Nian’s department. There were people coming and going, the two of them weren’t quiet in their conversation, and with Situ Jue’s outstanding looks, quite a few people started to watch.

Qi Nian disliked being observed like a rare animal and didn’t have time to explain. She grabbed his wrist and dragged him toward the mentor’s office.

Situ Jue followed her casually, letting her pull him along, looking at the back of her small head, suddenly picturing her frustrated face in his mind.

He couldn’t help it and laughed out loud.

Hearing the unbridled laughter behind her, Qi Nian’s nose twisted with anger. She stamped her foot, let go of his hand, and said, "You’re not allowed to laugh."

What’s so funny about that? This person is really annoying.

She intended to tattle.

Next time, she would never ask him to handle her troubles again; she would rather face her little uncle’s scowls.

Situ Jue suppressed his amusement, suddenly appearing somewhat expressionless, "Alright, alright, I won’t laugh. Tell me, what happened?"

Qi Niannian looked dejected all of a sudden, her gaze darting around. He couldn’t help but smile wryly, "Are you afraid to say it, or are you just embarrassed?"

Qi Niannian placed her hands on her hips and looked up, "What’s there to be afraid of saying? Someone was badmouthing Ranran, I hit them, and they got a bloody nose and were sent to the hospital. They haven’t come back yet today. They’re obviously trying to scam me for money."

Situ Jue looked at her slender figure in disbelief, "You? In a fight? Could you even hurt anyone? Did the other person hurt you?"

Qi Niannian initially wanted to yell at him, to question why she couldn’t fight, but the steam of anger dissipated with his question.

She shook her head, subconsciously hiding her hands behind her back.

When confronted with Yuran, it was easy for her to hide things, to tell lies, but for some reason, in front of the big bad wolf Situ Jue, she felt like lying would end very badly for her.

Her body reacted faster than her brain. Hiding was definitely impossible; this inconsequential movement drew his attention instead.

The smile faded from Situ Jue’s face. His lips pursed as he extended his arm, his palm open in front of her, "Show me your hand."

Shaking her head, Qi Niannian quickly placed her hands by her sides, "I’m not hurt."

"Hand."

She continued shaking her head.

Situ Jue’s lips tightened further, "Niannian, I’ll say it one more time. Hand, give it to me."

Qi Niannian instinctively twitched, and extended her hand. The little girl’s hand was tiny; it could be completely enveloped in his palm. Situ Jue found no cuts on either the palm or the back of her hand.

He rolled up her sleeve to find a graze on her arm; probably from being pushed to the ground with not much strength, it wasn’t severe but it wasn’t light either.

His eyes darkened as he stared at her wound, "You..."

Qi Niannian quickly interrupted him, her eyes brimming with tears, "You’re not allowed to scold me."

Situ Jue, who was about to utter words of comfort, "..."

He took a deep breath to calm himself, reminding himself she was still young and not to be petty, "Didn’t you think to treat the wound you got yesterday, Niannian?"

With every utterance of ’Niannian,’ his voice was like a gentle stream that seeped into her being. Qi Niannian wanted to say he shouldn’t call her that, but something about the soft way he said ’Niannian’ made her somewhat... covet it.

Whatever Situ Jue said after that, she didn’t pay attention and didn’t take it in.

After speaking for a while without her attention, Situ Jue, finding the situation both funny and frustrating, took her by the hand and headed straight for the instructor’s office.

...

It was only after returning home that Yuran learned Situ Jue had gone to help Qi Niannian with her problem. The water she was drinking almost spewed out as she looked at Bo Yan, who was an arm’s length away, with a mix of disbelief and amusement, "Seventh Brother, you do realize you’ve just bamboozled your own wife, right?"

Caught off guard, Bo Yan chuckled and pulled her into his embrace, seating her on his lap, "Whatever do you mean, my wife?"

Thinking of Qi Niannian’s easily ruffled yet innocent nature, Yuran laughed, "Qi Niannian will surely come to me tomorrow and say I did it on purpose, that I specifically asked Situ Jue to help solve the problem."

"Couldn’t you have picked just anyone else? How did you manage to land on Situ Jue’s head?"

Bo Yan looked aggrieved, "Situ Jue was just a random choice."

Yuran gave him a ’do you think I’m an idiot’ look, "Random pick for the busy new CEO with his hands full, huh?"
