My Fortune-Blessed Leading Lady
Chapter 277: Dare You to Wear the Matching Rings

Chapter 277: Chapter 277: Dare You to Wear the Matching Rings

The two of them looked like defeated roosters, hanging their heads low as they each held a fairy tale book and started to read. Both were so childish that the moment they picked up the books, they became energized and engaged, exclaiming in discussion, "Wow, so this is what the original version is like!"

Qi Nian said, "Exactly, exactly. When I was little, I only read picture books, which were so pretty. Are the original books even better to look at?"

Bai Leyao said, "Some of the words are hard to understand."

Yuran said, "..."

While the two were absorbed in reading, Yuran turned to ask the butler, "Is my godmother still resting?"

The butler replied with impeccable politeness, "Yes, madam. The old madam has been resting. The long journey has tired her out, and she has instructed us not to disturb her. There are servants outside keeping watch, and they will notify us when she wakes."

"Hmm, okay."

The butler said, "Madam, Master Qi asked me to inquire about dinner arrangements. Would 7 o’clock this evening suit you? Today’s meal includes an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Are there any particular preferences or dietary requirements for you and the guests that I should note?"

Annan watched the butler’s attentive and personalized service from the side and couldn’t help but feel that she was inexperienced in such worldly affairs.

This week seemed like all she had to do was open her mouth.

Yuran shared the same sentiment. In her view, back in the capital, she did everything herself. Now that she was here, everything was done for her, and it felt somewhat uncomfortable.

It felt uneasy from head to toe.

She had no objections to the dinner time and simply told the butler a few things to note, then sent him away. Only two servants remained to attend to them.

At 6:30 in the evening, after discussing wedding details, Bo Yan and Situ Jue appeared in the Sunshine Greenhouse. When they saw the two engrossed in fairy tale books, Bo Yan squeezed onto the sofa with Yuran, wrapped his arms around her, and asked in confusion, "What’s this about?"

Clearly, the newly-arrived Situ Jue was also baffled.

Annan didn’t speak but couldn’t help finding it a bit amusing. The two absorbed in fairy tales had not noticed the arrival of two more people and were still deeply engrossed in their books.

Yuran explained with a laugh, "Just giving them a bit of a general knowledge lesson."

Bo Yan raised an eyebrow, "Oh? What sort of general knowledge?"

Yuran pinched the hand he had placed around her waist and said with a humorous tone, recounting the earlier incident. As the words flowed out, her eyes twinkled with deepening amusement.

After listening, Bo Yan looked incredulously at the two girls reading fairy tales across from him, astonished.

Situ Jue was just as astonished, failing to hide the smile at the corner of his lips. His gaze rested on one of the little heads and he couldn’t help but chuckle.

Adorably stupid.

By the time the two reading the fairy tales realized that others had arrived, they had already gone through most of the book. Upon seeing Bo Yan and Situ Jue across from them, they exchanged glances and hid the books behind their backs, thinking they had cleverly managed to evade detection.

Bo Yan said, "..."

Situ Jue said, "..."

Yuran said, "..."

Annan said, "..."

It was a case of ’burying one’s head in the sand.’

With her cheeks flushed a light pink, Bai Leyao glared at Yuran indignantly, "No loyalty."

Qi Nian was just as indignant, echoing Bai Leyao’s expression and gaze, and with a touch of accusation, said, "Exactly, exactly, no loyalty."

However, both of them had finally realized what was wrong with their stories. Yuran looked at them with a smile, "Alright then, I’ll admit I was wrong this time. Have you corrected the mistakes you made?"

Qi Nian spoke up first, afraid that any hesitation would make her seem more foolish, "Of course I know that; I was just joking with her earlier."

Bai Leyao refused to show weakness, "I was joking with you, too."

Yuran: "..."

In the midst of their playful banter, the butler reappeared, hands folded in front of him, and bowed, "Young Master Qi, Madam, dinner is ready. Please head to the dining room."

...

A luxurious feast, at certain times, strictly speaking, refers to a candlelit dinner between lovers, or a Manchu Han Imperial Feast during gatherings.

But when Qi Nian and the others made their way to the dining room, the sight of the ten-meter-long dining table left them at a loss for words.

Then the servants started to serve the dishes one by one, and the head chef even waited to introduce the dishes and soups to them.

It was truly seven-star service. Bo Yan’s mother, weary from the journey and not in the best of health, had a special bird’s nest soup prepared for her. The appetizers came first, with the chef rattling off descriptions, though she didn’t really remember any of it.

Following that, the main courses arrived, simple in arrangement yet beautiful in color, looking very appetizing.

The desserts that came after were even more satisfying. After finishing a mousse, Qi Nian weakly asked, "Can I have another one?"

"Pff..." Situ Jue, who was sitting closer to her, overheard her request and incredulously pushed his own dessert toward her.

"I haven’t touched it, here you go."

Qi Nian looked at him, blinked, and took it without any pretense, "Thanks a lot."

Situ Jue: "..."

Observing the splendor around her, Bo Yan’s mother remained calm, but Yuran felt a hint of surprise. Had Bo Yan’s mother never questioned that this was Bo Yan’s property?

However, it seemed that even if she did know, it was not her first time being aware of it.

After the meal, Bo Yan’s mother was still not feeling well, so she went back to her room to rest. Yuran and the others, tired from their travels and full from their meal, also wanted to rest. The butler instructed the servants to take them to their rooms and made a point of reminding them to serve fruits half an hour later.

After most of the guests had departed, Yuran was lead directly to the study by Bo Yan, with Situ Jue following behind them, overhearing their conversation inadvertently.

In fact, the two of them didn’t seem to mind his presence.

Bo Yan, looking at the girl’s rosy complexion, asked with a deep smile, "Did you enjoy yourself? Are you tired? Do you need to rest for a bit?"

Yuran shook her head, "I’m fine, no need to rest. Qi Ge, does godmother know about this place being your castle?"

Bo Yan explained to her, "My mom actually knows I have quite a few properties outside. I never told her, but I guess she figured it out on her own."

"It’s surprising that godmother isn’t shocked at all."

Bo Yan laughed, "Are you shocked?"

"Nope!"

"So, isn’t it quite normal for my mom not to be shocked? It’s not necessary to be surprised that her son is so wealthy. Why aren’t you surprised?"

Yuran found it somewhat funny, "Isn’t it expected for a boyfriend to be wealthy? There’s no need to be surprised, right?"

"Pfft..." Bo Yan suddenly burst into laughter, clearly pleased, "I discussed with Situ the entire afternoon about taking you to see the proposal, as well as the couple rings I’m endorsing. I told the other party that I hoped they’d come up with a unique design. The draft has already been sent to me; do you want to go have a look together?"

"You dare to wear a couple ring?"
