My Fortune-Blessed Leading Lady
Chapter 170: But, Why?

Chapter 170: Chapter 170: But, Why?

The dinner was quite awkward for Yuran, mainly because she somehow held a higher status than the two men of the Bo Family, which was practically a death sentence.

After dinner, Bo’s mother packed up the leftover sweet and sour spare ribs for Yuran, along with some sweet and sour pork loin.

Initially, they had planned for Yuran to stay over for the night, but considering the inconvenience for her school, she decided against it.

She also instructed Bo Yan to be careful while driving, not to frighten Yuran.

On the way back, Bo Yan occasionally glanced at Yuran, noticing her holding two brightly colored food containers, several times he seemed like he wanted to speak but then stopped himself.

Yuran turned her head to look at his profile, "Bo Yan, do you have something you want to tell me?"

"It’s nothing, just that, you seem like my mom’s biological child and I’m the adopted one, and my dad might even be from a second marriage," Bo Yan couldn’t hold back and complained.

It wasn’t out of jealousy, but he genuinely felt that way.

Yuran: "..."

How should she respond to that? Any response would sound quite awkward, really...

Watching the young girl suddenly fall silent, Bo Yan gripped the steering wheel tighter and said indifferently, "Don’t overthink it, my mother has always been like this. She has liked you for more than a day or two now, so you shouldn’t feel embarrassed. We’re all used to it."

Yuran: "..."

The more she listened, the more awkward it became.

She had thought that Bo Yan wouldn’t stay at her place today, but after going upstairs, he showed no intention of leaving, and she felt it would be rude to ask him to leave, so she just let it be. Bo Yan took the food containers from her hand and went to stack them in the fridge.

He asked casually, "Are you coming back for lunch tomorrow?"

Yuran thought for a moment, not noticing his expression, and answered indifferently, "Oh, I should be. I don’t have anything on tomorrow."

"Hmm!"

Bo Yan responded, his eyes drifting upward to see the top shelf of the fridge, where his three dishes and one soup from yesterday were stored. The soup and a dish of vegetables were almost untouched, but the other dish, minced pork with three peppers, had been eaten a bit.

His long lashes fluttered as he asked, "Why are yesterday’s dishes still here? Didn’t I tell you to throw them out? Did you eat them?"

Yuran walked over, following his gaze, and said, "Oh, it would have been a waste to throw them out. That minced pork with three peppers is really good mixed with noodles."

She spoke with extreme certainty and sincerity, Bo Yan’s hidden anger flared slightly, hence he asked, "Why didn’t you come back to eat yesterday?"

Unaware of Bo Yan’s upset mood, Yuran replied calmly, "I met a friend yesterday, the one I told you about before, that classmate’s uncle, and then we ate out."

"You couldn’t even send a message?" Bo Yan’s resentment surged.

Yuran uttered an "Uh," only then noticing that Bo Yan seemed a bit upset. She chuckled awkwardly, "Bo Yan, are you angry? Why? Didn’t you also not eat at home yesterday?"

Bo Yan looked at her intently, his gaze deep, making Yuran feel somewhat overwhelmed, unable to handle such scrutiny, "Bo, Bo Yan, what’s wrong with you?"

Bo Yan, "Do you know? Those three dishes and a soup from yesterday, I made them, for you."

In that instant, Yuran’s pupils dilated dramatically, then she looked at him in disbelief as Bo Yan’s focused gaze made her feel like she had nowhere to hide.

After a long time, Yuran finally found her voice, "You... you made those?"

"Yes!"

"But..." Yuran momentarily didn’t know how to continue, "But why?"

She really didn’t understand.

Bo Yan, why would he make her a whole table of food, and wait for her to come eat it?

Bo Yan closed the fridge, walked past her and took a few steps forward, "Figure it out yourself."

It’s precisely because she couldn’t figure it out that she asked...
