My five ghostly husbands -
Chapter 253 What if I become a star?
Chapter 253: Chapter 253 What if I become a star?
Adrian stared at him in silence for a few seconds longer.
Then, as if deciding it wasn’t worth the energy, he sighed and let his body sink back onto the bed.
"...Alright. Just sleep now," he muttered, pulling the blanket back up.
"Mmhm!" Karl said and tiptoed toward the bed, still smiling to himself as he slid under the covers.
But Adrian’s eyes stayed open for a few more moments, staring at the ceiling.
"Why does his face look like someone just promised him a kingdom?" he whispered to himself.
Something was definitely up.
The next morning, Ruby checked out of the hotel and made sure to bring everyone a hearty breakfast. She didn’t stop there—she also bought their favorite snacks, little things each of them liked, and even picked up some skincare items she thought they might need. Her arms were full of care, her heart fuller.
Karl clung to her side like a proud cat, his eyes sparkling as he showed off a bracelet she had chosen for him—a soft gray one with simple patterns. "Wife! Look! Isn’t it pretty?" he said, holding up his wrist with a grin so bright it almost outshone the morning sun.
Ruby just smiled.
Her eyes softened as she looked at the four of them—her husbands.
Somehow... they became her home.
Julian was always gentle. He made her favorite meals, washed her clothes quietly without asking, always thoughtful in his every gesture. He never demanded attention but gave all of his with quiet devotion.
Milo was her little helper. Always cheerful, always eager to please. Whether it was folding clothes or bringing her tea while she worked, he’d hum and smile, like a beam of sunlight following her around.
Karl, though lazy at times, had a wild kind of charm. He made her laugh, teased her when she was stressed, and filled the house with noisy energy. She used to find him a headache. Now... she loved that stormy spirit.
And Adrian... Adrian, who used to glare at her with cold, judging eyes, now helped her silently—carrying things, fixing shelves, giving advice on her business when asked. Their relationship wasn’t exactly warm yet, but it was no longer sharp. It was steady. Familiar. There was a quiet trust forming in the space between them.
After breakfast, Ruby took them to a small garden nearby. It wasn’t grand—just a circle of purple grass and odd-colored trees, nothing like their twisted village trees. There were benches, and even a wooden swing.
She pushed each of them one by one.
Milo laughed the most, his robes fluttering as he kicked his legs in the air.
Julian smiled gently, his hair catching the light as he closed his eyes and let the swing carry him.
Karl whooped like a child, nearly falling off the seat as he tried to swing higher than anyone.
Even Adrian, who refused to sit at first, finally gave in when Ruby tugged his sleeve. He didn’t smile but the way he held the rope tighter, his knuckles soft, said more than words.
Later, they had lunch together in a cozy little place, the kind with simple food and warm windows.
When they finally drove back into the village, people stared.
They weren’t used to seeing a fancy car rolling through the crooked roads. Ruby kept her head high.
At home, Angeline and her husbands were the first to rush out. "Congratulations!" Angeline said, beaming. She and Ruby exchanged a few words, laughter, and knowing looks. The car was parked behind the house, and the little yard felt full of life again.
Ruby stepped inside and looked around.
The scent of home. The feeling of belonging.
Karl was still talking about the garden. "Wife! That swing was the best! I almost flew!"
She laughed quietly, slipping her shoes off.
Maybe she would take them again.
Yes... maybe soon.

Milo was arranging the snacks Ruby brought, humming to himself while occasionally sneaking a bite.
Julian was carefully unpacking their bags, folding clothes with that soft, focused gentleness he always carried.
Adrian sat at the table reading story book.
And Ruby was in the kitchen, tying her hair up loosely as she warmed a pot of tea for everyone, the scent of ginger and mint filling the room.
Karl sat on the sofa, legs lazily swinging. His chin rested in his palm, and for once, he was quiet. His eyes weren’t watching Ruby like usual. They were distant and dreamy.
Julian glanced at him. "You okay?" he asked.
Karl blinked, then let out a little sigh—soft, almost dramatic. "I was just thinking..."
"Uh-oh," Adrian muttered under his breath without looking up.
"What if I become a star?" Karl said, eyes wide now, sparkling as his voice grew louder. "Like—a real actor. The kind people scream for. Posters! Interviews! Robes designed just for me. Fans throwing flowers!"
Ruby peeked from the kitchen, raising a brow. "You already act like the world revolves around you, Karl. Isn’t that enough?"
But Karl was lost in his own fantasy. "No, no, think about it! I’ll walk through the market, and all those witches who ignored me before will faint. Pillu will brag that he knew me. And that family who sold me off? They will cry!"
Julian snorted a laugh.
"Someone will probably write a biography called ’The Wild Rise of Karl the Great!’" Karl continued, now standing up and striking a dramatic pose pretending to wear sunglasses. "I’ll sign autographs with glitter pens."
"And forget your poor little wife and husbands in law, hmm?" Ruby said, walking over with the tea tray.
Karl gasped. "Never! I’ll thank you all in every award speech."
Then he lowered his voice dramatically and clutched his chest. "I dedicate this to my beautiful wife who believed in me, my genius brother Adi, my supportive Julian, and my baby Milo—without whom my hair would’ve never looked this good on screen..."
Milo giggled, clapping. "I’ll be your biggest fan, brother Karl!"
Adrian finally smiled, just a little, shaking his head. "You better make sure you can read a script first."
Karl threw a pillow at him. "I can! I’ve been studying hard!"
