My Favorite Game Followed Me! -
Chapter 501
Anton returned to dealing with the four remaining gargoyles when he saw that the huge stone cyclops was busy dealing with his clay golem. Just like how he dealt with the first four, he alternated in hitting the four flying monsters with Chain Lightning to stagger them and with the Frozen Orb to slow and damage them.
Even though Anton was focusing on the four remaining gargoyles, his attention was still split between the four flying monsters and the stone cyclops. Because of that, he saw the stone cyclops manage to pick up his clay golem and hurled the summon at him.
Anton immediately teleported to the side to avoid the clay golem that was hurtling towards him. He cast Chain Lightning at the four gargoyles to prevent the flying monsters from reaching him, then he looked at his clay golem. Even though the golem received tremendous damage, it was still alive and picked itself up to meet the stone cyclops, who was alarmingly about to reach him.
He was worried that the golem would just be picked up by the cyclops again to be hurled at him, so after casting a Chain Lightning at the four gargoyles to stagger them, Anton dismissed the golem and summoned his Dire Bear to confront the stone cyclops. He thought that since the Dire Bear was such a huge monster, the cyclops wouldn’t be able to pick it up, and he was right. The meeting of the two huge monsters caused such a huge slam that Anton had the urge to cover his ears.
When Anton was sure that his Dire Bear was able to confront the stone cyclops, he concentrated on finishing the four gargoyles. A few more casts of the Chain Lightning spell and the Frozen Orb spell, and soon, the four gargoyles crumbled into dust. He then assisted the Dire Bear in destroying the stone cyclops. He used the spell Ice Blast instead of an area of effect skill since any such type of spell would also affect his Dire Bear. After a couple of minutes, Anton and his Dire Bear finally destroyed the stone cyclops.
Anton was thrilled with the battle simply because it wasn’t easy. He wasn’t worried that he would be defeated because of the array of skills he had from all his characters. He thought that even if he confronted the monsters in melee, he would be able to defeat them.
If he were someone who got a thrill in confronting enemies head-on in a melee battle, he would have met them head-on on but he loved being a wizard. Casting powerful spells from a distance was the one what made his heart tremble with excitement.
Unfortunately, the enemies being stone statues didn’t provide any quest items, but once the dungeon consumed them, two high-level mana stones and three medium mana stones appeared. He immediately stored them and moved past the first chamber.
Anton dispelled the Dire Bear, summoned a raven as his scout, and a spirit wolf as the one who would trigger the traps that were scattered on the road.
While he was flying forward at a slow pace, Anton also checked his character's skill tree. He needed to make sure that all of his skills were specialized in his current combat style. He needed to reset his Necromancer's skills because he had reset them to specialize in summoning skeletons. He returned the skill tree to specialize in curses, but of course, he made sure that he put a single point on every other skill.
Anton then thought about his Druid skills. At that moment, his Druid skill tree was specialized in summoning. He thought about resetting it to specialize in the Elemental skill tree, but he already had the Sorceress spells, so he kept the Druid as it was.
At first, Anton was a little annoyed that he had to use his other character's skills to confront the enemies and wasn’t able to do so just using the Sorceress' skills, but he realized that such thinking was foolish. All of the skills that he had from all of his characters were his skills, and there was no room to behave as if he had a mental issue like the vaunted Obsessive Compulsive deficiency.
The best thing that he could do was to master each and every one of his skills. What annoyed Anton the most was that he couldn’t combine his Sorceress skills with his summoning skills because the Sorceress specialized in Area of Effect spells, and summons were affected by Area of Effect spells. Even the curses from the Necromancer were Area of Effect skills, and the summons would be affected as well.
He did have a veritable single attack spell that he could choose from the seven characters that he could specialize in, so he could have his summons and attack with a powerful spell at the same time.
Anton did a quick research on the internet, and the netizens said that the most powerful single attack skill was the necromancer’s Poison Dagger. He wanted something in range, and the next spell that was recommended was the Bone Spear.
He would have to check that out, but right now, since his gear was geared toward the Sorceress. He thought that he would just use the already maximized Ice Blast. The problem with that skill was that monsters that were hit with it tended to be frozen and then would shatter. That meant that if he needed a body part from those monsters for the quest items, they would be gone.
Anton just shrugged and would think more about it once he had several battles, because if he was being honest, he didn’t have enough battle experience to truly need to combine summoning with casting spells. If worst comes to shove, he could even hit his summons with his spells, since if the summons dies, he could just summon them again.
While they were moving forward, with his Spirit Wolf walking before him to trigger all the traps and the raven scouting ahead, his raven was suddenly hit by arrows. The raven was very tanky, so Anton saw that the monsters that were hitting it with arrows were five kobold archers. The archers were actually on top of ledges.
Anton got a little nervous and looked around. He felt relieved that he didn’t see any ledge in his location. That meant that the next battle area was just going to be that part of the road. The archers were on the ledge, but he saw one of the kobold archers nimbly jump down from the ledge and start attacking the raven while trying to get nearer. There were also kobold melee warriors underneath the ledge.
Anton flew forward and started casting Frozen Orb towards the kobolds. The spell hit all of the kobolds, causing them to have slow movement speed. He could see that some of the archers wanted to jump down to flee, and knew that kobold monsters were intelligent enough to have some sort of formation, but the chilling and slowing effect of the Frozen Orb spell disrupted whatever formation the kobolds were planning to create.
When Anton entered the area and had a clear sight of the kobold monsters, he started alternating with Frozen Orb and Chain Lightning. He was beginning to like the Chain Lightning spell since it could stagger enemies. He saw that a couple of kobolds were far enough away that they started running backwards to flee, but Anton cast the Bone Prison spell on the two of them to lock them in place.
After several more casts of his Frozen Orb and Chain Lightning spell, all of the kobold monsters were dead. He immediately tagged all the kobolds with his portal key, as they had the body parts that he could submit as quest items.
