My Favorite Game Followed Me! -
Chapter 441
Anton kept losing consciousness because of the relentless psychic attack that the wizards from the Undead Coalition ships kept bombarding the area. His physical and magical defenses were extraordinarily robust because of the stats and passive skills he received from all of his Diablo II characters and the equipment that his character was wearing. He wasn’t aware that his mental defenses were not the same as his magical defenses, and because of that, he was vulnerable to the mental attack that he had been receiving.
The only reason he kept gaining consciousness was because of his Prayer Aura and the healing potions he kept drinking through his Diablo II system, but at best, he was just half-conscious.
If he was fully in command of his faculties, he would have bet his life in searching for the rest of his family even if there was no hope that they had survived the spell bombardment that came from the liches but the best thing that he could do in his current state was to hug his father to protect him using his body while his Valkyrie from the Amazon skill tree who had the same defenses as him was hugging his sister to protect her and to make sure that they flew as fast as he could to the west trying to escape the area where the Amelia and the Undead Ships were gathered.
The only bit of consolation that he had left was because of some sort of spell that the undead had cast, making the surrounding area dark, even though it was morning, the Cloak of Shadows skill that he cast was hiding him, his father, and Anna.
Even in his half-conscious state, Anton kept on crying. His heart was truly broken. All of his friends were dead. Based on the actions of the undead, who kept slinging their spells even though the Amelia was already in pieces, they had no intention of capturing anyone and just wanted to destroy them, which he didn’t understand. With the number of undead wizards that were in the two hundred ships from the coalition that attacked them, Anton also knew that soon, Katrina and the other Supreme Wizards would be defeated.
There was still a desire in him to come back and search for any of his friends who might have survived, and he was willing to bet his life, but because of his semi-conscious state, the only thing he could do was move forward. The only thing that was keeping him sane was that his father and his sister were still alive, and he had to do everything he could to make sure that they remain so.
Anton wasn’t even sure that they could escape. He didn’t know if the Cloak of Shadow's skills were truly hiding them or if the undead were just playing a cat-and-mouse game with him. He used all the skills that he had to speed up his flying and to hide, and again, he didn’t know if everything that he was doing was helping them escape. The only thing he could do aside from that was hope.
He was thankful that his Meditation Aura and his potions that he had amassed and were currently stored in his inventory were letting him use his spells non-stop, and he knew that with those resources, he could fly for as long as he could. It was also a little helpful that he actually didn’t have to drink the potions, but just click on them while it was in his inventory. Even when he was inside the Diablo II world virtually, there was no need for the act of drinking or eating.
After a few hours of flying to the west, Anton was still not sure if he managed to escape but the mental attack stopped and there were no more spells falling down near him but he didn’t want to be complacent and still hid and flew as fast as he could.
Anton was getting worried about his father and sister, who hadn’t woken up. He knew that the mental attacks affected them greatly, and he was hoping that his Prayer Aura would alleviate the damage the attacks did to their minds.
A few more hours, and he was now fully awake and full of energy because of his Vigor Aura. Anton didn’t attempt any kind of reconnaissance to where the Amelia was because he didn’t want to be detected by the undead. He was still full of grief because of the death of those he considered family, but he was trying to bury it because he needed all his focus to make sure that he, his father, and his sister survived. But he would not forget. He would try his best to become as powerful as he could, and the day would come when he would take his revenge.
To be honest, Anton didn’t want to become like those Korean web novels protagonist with having the only goal was to increase his power. He wanted to be one of those Japanese slice-of-life web novel protagonist who would live surrounded by his family and friends and kept on getting richer through the use of his system but knew that he didn’t have a choice now.
The Undead Coalition seemed hell-bent on conquering the world, even though he was told by a lot of people that the powers-that-be of this world would not truly allow that. Where were they when his home village was destroyed? Where were they when Zalnothel, his chosen home city, was destroyed? Where were they when the Amelia was destroyed? He was beginning to believe that there were no powers-that-be that police this world. He was gearing toward the belief that all of those who had the power would only move if they were affected personally.
A few more hours had passed, and Anton was beginning to hope that they had managed to escape, but again, he would not fall into complacency. He even bypassed an island that he stumbled into because he thought that it was still too near where the location where their ship was destroyed.
It was truly dark now because it was nighttime time but with the help of his compass, he continued flying to the west. He let go of his father and dismissed the Valkyrie and held them using his Telekinesis spell.
The sun began to shine and the surroundings were beginning to lighten, which made Anton a little happy because it meant that they were now out of the coverage area where the darkening spell that the undead had cast. He didn’t know if they manage to escape but he didn’t dismiss the Cloak of Shadows and they kept on flying to the west.
He decided to summon his Valkyrie again from the Amazon skill tree and summon his Shadow Warrior from the Assassin skill tree and commanded them to hug his father and his sister so they would be protected in case of any attack. He still felt that they were not out of the danger area, so better safe than sorry.
Whenever his mind went to his friends that he had left in the wake of their ship’s destruction, Anton tried his best to bury it. He couldn’t afford to be distracted.
Finally, his Father woke up and began struggling from Anton’s Shadow Warrior’s embrace. His father’s movement greatly relieved Anton.
“Father, stop struggling. It’s my summoned familiar protecting you,” Anton said.
They were flying near enough to each other that he didn’t need to shout.
