My Favorite Game Followed Me! -
Chapter 395
Anton showed his family and friends a lot of videos from the most famous video streaming website on Earth about the technology that Earthlings enjoy, like entertainment, gaming, education, infrastructure, communication, travel, and more. He remembered showing something like this before to them, but they were still very curious. Since they asked a lot of questions, he had to make an effort to answer most of them.
“Why do you all want to know these things? It wouldn’t directly help us since it will probably take our world hundreds of years before we can achieve something that the earthlings already achieved,” Anton asked Philip softly.
“I know you told us that our world’s dependence on magic was one of the reasons why we can’t progress in technology at the same speed as the people from that world where you took the movies and your explanation said that in the long run, even if we will take exponentially longer, we will be much better for it since it will be a combination of technology and magic. We still can’t help ourselves but be fascinated and maybe take some inspiration from them,” Philip whispered back.
After over an hour, Anton had to put his foot down and stop the videos since he was tired. If everyone was just going to watch, then it wouldn’t be a problem, but the fact was, he had to answer a lot of questions, and all that speaking made his throat dry.
The mages complained that they hadn’t seen a lot of the spells from the “games” yet, but Anton told the girls that they could continue doing it once they were back on the Amelia. After that, they all went to their rooms to rest.
The next day, Anton woke up from the noises that came from outside his room and knew that the hotel’s clientele, who were all passengers from the Amelia, were preparing to board the ship. Since Anton had nothing to clean up, he just took a shower and joined his family for breakfast.
After that, they all went to the ship and joined the massive line boarding the ship. Harun met them to guide them back to the ship, and their sailor guide informed them that there were a lot of Norbunians who joined them to head toward the Gale Continent.
“They were mostly the very rich who wanted to run. They knew what was happening in Rendindura and probably thought that the islands of Norbuna are not safe from the Undead Coalition and decided to relocate to the Gale Continent.”
“The fact is, those who were undecided changed their mind when they learned that the cinema shows a new movie every two weeks,” Philip said.
Anton was startled, but based on the man’s expression, Philip was just joking.
“It’s almost true. Because of the movies, Captain Robertson even increased the passenger rate with my permission, of course,” Antonia said.
“Hey! Our family should earn something from that,” Anton complained.
“You don’t need to worry, Anton. Of course, our family has a share,” Nemina said, even though Anton was just kidding.
The movement of the line of passengers was fast enough, and soon they were back at their suite. Anton was a bit shocked when they found their suite dusty. He would have complained that they paid a lot of coins for their suite, and that meant maintaining the cleanliness of their rooms, but Anders just shrugged and commanded everyone to clean up everything. Since most of the people there were mages now, they copied Anton and learned the Cleaning spell. Soon, the whole suite was clean. It did take the novice mages longer since they only learned the novice Cleaning Spell, unlike Anton, who learned the more advanced one that could cover a bigger area.
Anton only cleaned his and his father’s room. The rest were handled by the rest so they could practice casting their spells. The novice mages in the family did enjoy the process of cleaning the rooms using their cleaning spells, and that relieved Anton a bit since now he could hand off some of the things that he always did to others.
Not that he begrudged his family the time and effort to do those simple things like cleaning and repairing things, but the fact that his family could now cast spells just like him made him glad since soon, they should be able to contribute in battles.
After everything was clean, Anton’s father, Selena, and her friends went to where the cinema was so they could check the venue and do whatever they needed to do to seamlessly restart the cinema once Amelia left Norbuna.
Frederick and the girls who were mages went to the mages' hall. Devon went somewhere by himself, gleefully celebrating his freedom from always attaching himself to the family. Colin and the female bodyguards had nothing to do, so they followed Anders to the cinema.
At first, Anton thought of spending the day leveling up his character since he had spent the past few days not entering his Diablo II system and he was starting to feel guilty, but he felt bored a bit so he decided to watch a television show by himself.
Since he was alone in the suite, he decided to utilize the theater area by himself and projected the screen there instead of doing it internally like he usually did when he wanted to watch movies or shows by himself.
Anton decided to watch one of the new animes and remembered that one of his favorite web novels, “Only I Level Up,” was made into an anime, which they changed to “Solo Leveling” for some reason.
He was halfway through episode one when someone knocked on the door, and when he checked, it was actually Torun, Blake, Andrea, and Soren.
“Hey! Why are you here? I thought you’d be busy helping your families to settle down?”
“They chased us away since, according to my brother, 'You’re all making everything worse!” Soren said while chuckling, and Anton thought that maybe they intentionally did it so they would be chased away.
“Come on in then. Everyone was busy, so I’m alone here. I was planning to watch a show. You can join me then,” Anton told everyone.
His friends gleefully joined him, excited that they would be able to watch something for free. Anton had to explain the concept of animation and television shows to them, but soon, he restarted episode one of the anime again.
Anton kept thinking that his Diablo II system was truly overpowered since it translated all the movies and shows to the local language. He had always wondered how it worked but decided to give up since it gave him a headache after he tried formulating the theory behind it. At first, he thought the system was using some sort of Comprehend Language spell, but it was more than that. The translation was simply perfect. It conveyed all the emotions that the makers wanted to convey perfectly using the local language, and he wondered what would happen if the audience was separated in the middle and half of them didn’t speak the other half’s language. Would they still be able to understand the movie from his system?
When Anton thought how massive that experimentation undertaking would be, he just gave up.
By lunchtime, they had watched several episodes of Solo Leveling. When Anton asked his friends if they wanted to go somewhere to eat lunch, they actually declined, and Andrea said that they could handle a bit of hunger. Anton just shook his head and handed everyone some food and juice drinks from his inventory, and they continued watching the anime.
It was already two in the afternoon when Solo Leveling Season One ended.
“What do you think?” Anton asked his friends.
“It's different,” Andrea said.
