Chloe Simpson stood there, staring at the scene before her: that woman and Lucas Hughes walking into the apartment complex together, laughing and chatting. She was frozen, unresponsive.

Her mind flooded with images of Lucas and that woman tangled up together in their home, whispering sweet nothings to each other in the apartment that had once belonged to her and Lucas.

At last, she couldn’t hold back any longer. She pressed the elevator button and went upstairs.

She still had the key to their apartment. She could enter directly.
