Chapter 94: Chapter Ninety-Three: Order to Extinguish Demons (Third update)_1
They could never have imagined that the child they watched grow up would actually be a powerful cultivator. They were even more surprised to find that their savior was him indeed!
Master Basil scratched his beard, remembering the times when he had considered handing down the Iron Crane Spear techniques in the village, he felt slightly embarrassed, but soon burst into hearty laughter: "I did say years ago that Owen Bertram had immeasurable potential. My old man’s judgment is never wrong!"
The others tried hard to think but they could not remember Master Basil saying such things...
Owen Bertram put his sister down. Verna was resolutely carrying her big iron pot. He instructed her: "Stay back with everyone else and take care of them."
Verna nodded strongly, banging on her pot: "I can definitely handle it!"
The demon lord, with its hands behind its back, stood atop the demon dragon. The strong winds billowing in Burning Hillock brushed against his dark energy, vanishing like fluttering ribbons.
But the surrounding Magic Wave further exposed its evil energy, which integrated into its body.
The demon showed off the prowess of a peerless power, looking with interest at the Flying Sword in front of him.
While Owen Bertram was giving instructions to his sister, the Flying Sword was staring intently at the demon lord.
"So, it’s you." The demon lord laughed.
Owen Bertram was surprised: "Do you know me?"
The demon lord remained silent as this wasn’t really a topic he should’ve started. How should he reply him? Should he tell Owen Bertram how he had suffered losses at his hands multiple times, lost several avatars, and thus was only half as powerful as he would have been otherwise?
"How foolish of you. You want to save these people? With great difficulty, you managed to escape and you should have run as far as you could. But you have trapped yourself now, allowing me to sacrifice you in a blood ritual.
Your sacrifice will be much more potent than all those ordinary humans."
The pitch-black dragon under the feet of the demon lord pounced with its teeth and claws bared. This dragon was 150 feet long, far bigger than all the houses in the village.
A slight movement within Owen Bertram’s body signaled the emergence of the Jade Cicada Apparition.
He did not suppress it, and the Jade Cicada Apparition flew up into the air, growing considerably in size and emitting a luminous jade glow. The demon dragon suddenly dispersed into chaos, unable to coalesce as a whole again. Over half of its demon form panicked and fled in terror!
This demon dragon was made up of birds, beasts, and insect monsters from around the area. The insect monsters were the majority accounting for more than half of it.
The Jade Cicada Apparition formed by the Variant Kingston naturally overpowered all snakes and insects.
Once a creature became a demon, this "Propensity" sank to its lowest point, while the insect monsters were the least intelligent, retaining the most of their original instincts.
Although they no longer kneeled and worshiped the Jade Cicada Apparition, their innate fear led them to panic.
The demon dragon disintegrated completely and beneath the feet of the demon lord was a void. Hovering in the air, the demon lord appeared rather awkward.
Owen Bertram said lightly: "Let’s skip these pointless attempts."
The demon lord cursed inwardly. Every time it encountered this boy, it inexplicably ended up at a disadvantage.
"Dammit, are you my jinx?"
"Fine!" It gritted its teeth and spat out. As it did so, the fog enveloping the whole village quickly condensed around the demon, transforming into solid substance, and sequentially congealed into several demon artifacts in front of it.
The insect monsters forming the demon dragon were now out of its control, the demon lord decided to let go of them, and the remaining demon matter congealed into a giant demon creature that stood as tall as a ten-story building.
It stood upright like a human but had beastly characteristics such as sharp claws, dreadful teeth, and formidable strength.
Behind it, were four massive flesh wings.
As each demon artifact materialized, they dropped and equipped themselves onto the Battle Demon who was gradually decked in pitch-black battle armor, with six gigantic claws each holding a giant weapon.
Thump!
The Battle Demon swung a chain hammer forcefully, striking the ground causing it to tremble.
At Owen Bertram’s call, the Flying Sword transformed into a piercing cold light, aiming directly at the Battle Demon’s forehead. However, the unstoppable Flying Sword fell into a force field before reaching its target.
Dull black waves appeared in front and around it. The Flying Sword kept pushing forward, meeting stronger resistance until eventually, it was forced to stop three feet in front of the Battle Demon.
As the power of the Flying Sword clashed with the Battle Demon’s force field, dull black waves kept emerging and shattering, but the Flying Sword was unable to progress any further.
Whoo-
Accompanied by a piercing wind, the Battle Demon swung a Ghost Head Saber, which was twenty feet long, right at Owen Bertram’s head.
The Turtle Shell Shield arrived just in time, only to betray a cracking sound and shatter under the immense influence of the Ghost Head Saber.
Stumbling back, Owen Bertram released a roar and the Great Seal Apparition shot forth from above his head with a magnificent force, landing heavily on the Battle Demon’s head.
With a muffled crash, the Battle Demon fell down on its knees; but its demon artifact battle armor held up astonishingly well against the attack, remaining unscathed. The Battle Demon shook its head and stood back up.
Following that, the Battle Demon’s other four claws each holding a hammer, a giant sword, and a shield, all three heavy weapons fell simultaneously. The fourth claw held up a bronze mirror and directed it towards Owen Bertram, who instantly felt a thick, adhesive force restraining him, slowing his movements.
Owen Bertram had the chains wrapped around his arm, forming a large chain gauntlet, and engaged in a furious collision with the Battle Demon.
Clang, clang, clang...
With each collision, Owen Bertram was forced a step back. The Battle Demon, the size of ten men, was like a small mountain in front of Owen Bertram and looked rather small in comparison – just one of its fists was several times larger than Owen Bertram himself. Master Basil and the others behind him couldn’t bear to watch, worrying that Owen Bertram would be crushed to pulp in the next strike.
Suddenly a figure in shining armor bolted out from Burning Hillock. His golden mask gave off an uncannily fierce and aggressive appearance.
After a single leap, the saber produced a fierce bloody aura in a swipe, landing heavily on the bronze mirror.
With a cracking sound, the mirror shattered. But before the shards could fall to the ground, they turned into a stream of pitch-black evil energy and re-congealed in the Battle Demon’s claw, forming a new bronze mirror.
The Golden Face Killing God stood shoulder to shoulder with Owen Bertram, and using that peculiar metallic voice said: "You’ve dared to invade Burning Hillock, Die!"
The Spiritual Pomegranate Sniper levitated behind him and took consecutive shots at the Battle Demon; amidst the thunderous sounds, the Battle Demon finally retreated a step.
However, the demon lord, standing aloof with his hands folded behind him, simply said: "Death throes."
Absolutely pleased with himself, he didn’t even care about the Golden Face Killing God. As a true powerhouse, he didn’t need to fight personally. He could resolve everything with just his puppet demon.
As for that so-called Golden Face Killing God and what it truly was, he was too lazy to expose that. It was just another little bug. He would crush it along with the others.
