Chapter 896: Chapter 471 Routine Tasks_1
The four princes eagerly awaited their chance. Sun Daren, however, muttered quietly, "I wonder if the Saintess washed her hair last night. What if this hairpin is oily and slips out of our hands by accident?"
Although he had intentionally lowered his voice, everyone around him could still hear. The Northern Ice Saintess’ eyebrows twitched involuntarily. How could he be so irritating?
Setting aside her natural beauty, she was already in the Sixth Great Realm. What did oily hair have to do with her?
If her master knew about this, he and his disciple would be speechless and sorrowful.
The Saintess lost her composure and shot Sun Daren a fierce glare, then offered the four princes a charming smile. This technique was taught by her master and guaranteed to make every prince feel that she was smiling at him alone.
However, the Northern Ice Saintess unexpectedly discovered that the four princes did not seem too thrilled. Clearly, Sun Daren’s "oily hair" comment had affected them, and the Saintess was once again left grinding her teeth in secret.
Adonis Dunn, the main official for the event, finally stepped forward and announced: "Let the competition officially begin! Please enter the Nine Realms Sky, Your Highnesses and Owen Bertram!"
The four princes scrambled to be the first to enter, their main focus being on the power represented by the Northern Ice Saintess. Oily hair or not, they could bear it.
Only after they all entered did Owen Bertram casually walk forward, carefully peeking inside before entering with an untrusting expression. The Saintess scoffed, "This is the Great Wu Empire. Even someone as brazen as me would not dare to use this opportunity to harm the four princes. If you’re really that scared, why not give up now?"
Owen Bertram sighed, "I can’t. I’m loyal to His Majesty. If His Majesty commands it, even if I have to face hell on earth or walk through blades and fire, I will do it."
Having said that, he leaped into the Nine Realms Sky. The Saintess outside seethed with rage. Becoming her husband is "hell on earth"? Was it the Emperor who forced him to come?
For a moment, the Saintess felt the uncontrollable urge to use her charm to subdue this Heaven’s Chosen, and then kick him away, so he would be tormented for the rest of his life by the pain of unrequited love!
Fortunately, she quickly came to her senses, reminding herself not to be impulsive and ruin the grand plan.
She took a deep breath to calm herself, and along with everyone else, focused her attention on the events unfolding within the Nine Realms Sky. Yet, her mind would occasionally wander, finding the thought of her impulsive plan incredibly satisfying...
Inside the Nine Realms Sky, Owen Bertram stepped in and found his surroundings changed dramatically. The beautiful mountains and rivers disappeared, replaced by a world of rolling yellow sand and scorching heat.
"It must be that woman’s doing," Sun Daren grumbled as he began wandering aimlessly through the desert.
The Nine Realms Sky had nine different worlds, and the hairpin could be anywhere. The fairness claimed by the Northern Ice Saintess was nonsense. She only had to secretly send the favored person to the world where the hairpin was and leave Owen far away, effectively favoring her ideal partner.
Though the people in the Imperial Library couldn’t see the hairpin’s location, they could observe the performances of the five contestants. Master Dunn looked at the environments of the four princes, and then Owen’s, frowning. It was obvious that the Northern Region People were biased, and revenge was too clear.
Northern Ice Saintess and the Elderly Witch exchanged glances, and the Saintess felt smug in her heart. The Nine Realms Sky was a treasure of the Northern Plain, and its many mysteries were only known to the upper echelons of the Northern Region. For example, the Magical Instrument was somewhat snobbish and selectively favored some over others.
It was most friendly to those with a "dragon’s aura,’’ then to those with great fortune. Such people would enter the Nine Realms Sky and smoothly obtain various opportunities before easily coming out.
If ordinary people entered, then it was a real-life-and-death struggle! In the end, they would leave with nothing and with their tails between their legs.
Therefore, the Northern Ice Saintess was not worried that Owen would find the hairpin first and that she would marry him, ruining her entire plan.
Owen trudged through the desert, with one foot sinking deep and the other barely grazing the surface, for over a Shichen (2 hours). Meanwhile, the Crown Prince had climbed a towering mountain beside a great river, gazing at the majestic landscape and turbulent waves. In the distance, a shimmering golden light played in and out of the roaring white rapids.
The Crown Prince rejoiced, "I’ve found it!"
He dove down like a hawk swooping toward the golden light. In the Imperial Library, his subordinates cheered, while the other three princes’ men gritted their teeth and cursed in secret.
Looking back at Owen’s situation, he lifted his hand to block the sunlight from his eyes, looking up at the blazing sun, "It’s so hot." Abner Lane and Leonard Dunn both shook their heads. It was obvious that Owen was half-hearted in this competition, not putting in any effort, and was deliberately slacking.
However, even after a long struggle, the Crown Prince failed to catch the golden light. Instead, it slipped away from him. Undeterred, he continued to search.
The Northern Ice Saintess was somewhat disappointed, as the Crown Prince was indeed the best choice. But after all, the Nine Realms Sky was Tier-8, with its rules and will. Not even the Great Chieftain could fully control it, let alone her.
