Chapter 673: Chapter 413: Can’t Help But Take_2

Several government officials were startled and hurriedly stepped aside. Owen Bertram and the others charged straight in. As soon as they entered the city gate, they suddenly sensed something. To the southwest of the county town, several powerful auras surged up into the sky.

D-Valley County had a long history. When the Wood Dynasty was first established, every county town was equipped with a City-Protection Talisman Array. Although these arrays had decayed over the years, their basic functions remained. As soon as these three auras appeared, the talisman array of the county town was activated, manifesting a thin layer of light. The powerful auras broke through the light barrier and fled south.

Owen Bertram sneered coldly, "Trying to run?"

However, he did not immediately take action. When the three auras fled dozens of miles out of the county town and entered the wilderness, three massive thunderbolts suddenly descended from the sky, accurately striking each of the three figures.

Boom!

Three figures landed on the ground in an extremely disheveled state. Shadows shot out from Owen Bertram’s side, with Glenn Mitchell taking the lead. He had a strong sense of justice and harbored deep hatred for the Red Clan, who harmed innocent people indiscriminately.

But a silhouette overtook him with a whoosh, rushing towards the location where the Red Clan members had fallen even faster. It was a Heaven Capturing Eagle controlled by Everley!

The speed of this bird naturally surpassed Glenn Mitchell’s. However, Everley’s speed was about the same as Glenn Mitchell’s. They exchanged glances, and Everley showed no intention of being polite. The Dragon Emperor Hall had already missed out on one opportunity, and their future under Owen Bertram whether they would enjoy meat or just soup depended on this mission. Naturally, he wouldn’t hesitate to make every effort to perform well and let Glenn Mitchell take the lead.

However, before the Heaven Capturing Eagle could reach its target, a huge bird suddenly swooped down from the sky and landed in the wasteland. It immediately caused tremendous commotion, and beneath its huge claws, it grasped a member of the Red Clan. While flapping its wings to gain altitude, it pecked at the fellow relentlessly with its beak.

The Red Clan member was also ferocious. Hidden beneath his clothes was a bright, heavy armor that had been distorted by the bird’s claws. Despite the damage, with his unbound arm, he swung a mace in a continuous assault against the bird. Each strike produced a ball of Flame and Thunderbolt, causing the bird to screech in pain, but it refused to let go and was determined to fight to the death.

The first merit had already been snatched away. Everley could only aim for the next best thing: there were still two Red Clan members. He dashed forward and slew one, while his Heaven Capturing Eagle captured the other. After capturing them all, he would be able to show off his skills in front of Owen Bertram.

However, to his surprise, he saw a flash of bright sword light in the wasteland, spanning over a hundred feet and as tall as the trees! The sword light reduced all the grass, wood, and soil in its path to ashes. A burly figure was blasted out of the wasteland, with his armor shattered, and he heavily crashed to the ground.

It seemed that his armor was also a treasure. Countless black tendrils emerged from the broken segments of his armor, covering his wounds and repairing the armor.

But just as he got to his feet, a torrent of explosive arrows shot out of the wasteland, forcing him to retreat and struggle to hold his ground. He roared in anger, revealing a series of mysterious fiery symbols on the back of his armor. The heavy light of the fire finally barely managed to block out the storm of arrows coming toward him. However, another flash of light slammed into his chest, shattering his armor again and sending him flying dozens of feet away.

From within the wasteland, the towering Divine Heavenly Soldier quickly emerged, his steps resounding like clashing metal. With his Tier-6 Ancient Sword held high above his head, he unleashed a sword strike that produced a sword aura a hundred feet long!

Everley turned his head away, not wanting to look. This Red Clan member was also done for, leaving him with very few remaining options. He only had one left! "My precious Heaven Capturing Eagle, speed up!" Just as the Divine Heavenly Soldier rushed out, the Heaven Capturing Eagle tucked in its wings and dove into the wasteland.

However, Everley suddenly sensed that his pet beast, upon entering the wasteland, was not moving forward but instead cowering in fear and retreating step by step.

"What’s going on?"

The Heaven Capturing Eagle was his strongest pet beast, an upper-tier existence at Tier-5. None of the Red Clan members could possibly surpass Tier-5, so what was his pet beast afraid of?

He and Glenn Mitchell also charged into the wasteland almost simultaneously, only to see an incredible sight: shadows danced within the wasteland, and a sword floated parallel to the trees, suspended in mid-air about a dozen feet above the ground.

Under the tip of the sword, the last Red Clan member was pinned down.

The Red Clan member trembled all over, with white frost forming on his eyebrows and beard. He wore an ancient helmet with three Flame symbols on it, but they had been extinguished by the power of ice and snow.

"This is... a Tier-7 Sword Artifact!"

"No wonder this Red Clan member doesn’t dare to move."

The Heaven Capturing Eagle shrank back behind its master, shivering in fear. It was a shocking sight. Who would have thought that this seemingly ordinary wasteland was hiding a Tier-7 superior force?

Everley was disappointed. He had intended to show off in front of Owen Bertram, but out of the three Red Clan members, he didn’t manage to catch any of them. He had wanted to demonstrate his combat capabilities in front of Owen. After all, the Dragon Emperor Hall had been a top-notch faction within the Wood Dynasty, and they couldn’t always serve as hunting dogs for Owen, could they?

With a dejected look on his face, Everley saw a fleeting smirk on Glenn Mitchell’s deadpan face. Owen hadn’t disappointed him, after all. Anyone who dared to harm the innocent people of the Wood Dynasty like the Red Clan members would never escape Owen’s preparedness.
