Chapter 644: Chapter 405: Magical Transformation of All Things_3

The magpie flew on, and Owen Bertram suddenly sensed a huge object in the spiritual wave feedback, even larger than the military fortress he had just detected. But he quickly realized: this thing was stationary, it should be a large mountain peak.

Sure enough, as Magpie got closer, it was indeed a towering mountain that sprung up from the ground and pierced into the grey mist. Magpie circled the mountain, which was at least three thousand feet high!

However, Owen Bertram distinctly remembered that Snow Mountain was not tall; there were no mountains over a thousand feet tall near Prefecture City.

Owen didn’t dare let Magpie descend recklessly. He moved a finger and took out a bean coated with a talisman for resisting the evil energy, propelling it towards the mountain.

The bean landed on it, transforming into a Tire-5 Organ Soldier wrapped in the glow of the talisman—if it was the last Magic Wave in Extinct Village, the presence of a fifth realm could have solved the entire Magic Wave.

However, this time, after the Beans Soldiers landed and inspected the area, they discovered nothing. The mountain was barren, entirely composed of jet-black rocks. From the outside, it seemed as though it had grown from the earth recently!

The Beans Soldiers walked down on foot. The mountain was steep, and Owen Bertram was somewhat impatient, so he manipulated the Beans Soldiers to fly downward, not expecting that as they left, the rocks suddenly broke, and extended into rocky arms, grabbing the Beans Soldiers by their legs and forcefully dragged them back to the mountain!

The Beans Soldiers exerted their strength, and the mechanism was activated. The stone arms were all shattered, but the mountain kept breaking, and more robust rocky arms reached out.

Owen Bertram retracted the Beans Soldiers with a thought, turning them back into a bean in his palm. However, the stone arms were still furiously extending, groping towards Owen Bertram and Magpie in the air!

"Huh?"

With a thought, Owen Bertram released a robust Northern Wilderness Divine Thunder that struck the mountain peak. Dozens of giant arms fell off and broke, but even the smallest fragment, during its fall, was grabbed back by the arms emerging from the mountain. It seemed the mountain harbored one belief: anything that landed on it became part of it, and it couldn’t lose even a single piece.

Anxious, Owen Bertram quickly examined the Beans Soldiers to find that the talisman on it was glowing a scary red. He peeled the talisman off and threw it, which quickly ignited in the grey fog outside, burning fiercely into ashes in the crimson flames.

Owen Bertram then immediately checked the talismans on himself and Magpie—fortunately, they were okay.

This indicated two things: The evil energy on the mountain was more potent, and secondly, the talismans on their bodies had their spiritual energy constantly replenished, while that on the Beans Soldiers was temporary and fixed in amount. Its defense force kept weakening in the face-off with the evil energy.

Even though he confirmed that he and Magpie were safe for now, the Beans Soldiers’ ordeal had left him uneasy, he couldn’t help but blurt out in frustration: "What on earth did Sharon Mansion’s revered Lord get up to, creating such terrifying evil energy?"

The arms on the mountain, despite taking a hit from the thunderbolt, were still not willing to give up and stubbornly tried to snatch back "their own" parts. To Owen’s surprise, the mountain started shaking, from bottom to top, rocks rolled up and accumulated a lot of black rocks at the peak, which then transformed into a huge stone snake. Its tail was tied to the mountain, and it rose towering high, lunging at Owen Bertram.

Owen Bertram sneered, ready to unleash a second, more powerful Northern Wilderness Divine Thunder when a bright light shot from the vast grey fog below, hitting the stone snake with a pop.

Snap! The light exploded, but it only created a small gap on the surface of the stone snake.

But Owen Bertram saw clearly, that light was an arrow!

Owen Bertram was thrilled. He flipped his palm, and an almost identically sized Northern Wilderness Divine Thunder as the stone snake thunderously fell! Not only did it blow the stone snake to pieces, but the thunder continued downwards, pouring fiercely on the mountain and making it a foot shorter!

Meanwhile, Owen Bertram was also prepared with the Spiritual Flame; if the mountain continued to be relentless, it would have to taste the blend of thunder and fire.

But the mountain turned coward; presumably, it realized that this opponent was genuinely formidable. It collected all the broken rocks and then entirely quieted down.As if that horrific commotion from earlier had nothing to do with it.

"Hmph!" Owen Bertram coldly muttered. He then patted Magpie and flew towards the direction from which the arrow had been shot. The Spirit Wave Ancient Zither in Owen’s hand constantly fluctuated, sending out real wave fluctuations and then bouncing back. As he and Magpie neared the ground, they could clearly see the undulating terrain below through the fog, which seemed deserted.

However, Owen’s Spirit Wave Ancient Zither had a different view. From the feedback it received, it informed Owen that a special energy barrier was present, housing fifty-four individuals, of which one was mounted on a beast of war.

Magpie folded its wings and landed on the ground. However, an eerie thing occurred again. Magpie had undoubtedly landed, but according to the feedback from the wave fluctuations, they were standing on that layer of energy barrier, not on actual ground.

Owen Bertram furrowed his brows, dismounted from Magpie, and stamped his foot on the ground, which felt solid, like real ground! However, Owen simply shook his head with a light laugh. Such tricks might stump someone from the Fourth Great Realm, or pose a challenge for a while to someone from the Fifth Great Realm, but in front of the Sixth Great Realm... He stomped again, and the so-called "ground" shattered, revealing the energy barrier underneath.

All "anomalies" in the fog were based on the pervasion of evil energy. What Owen had to do was to force this evil energy to retreat, and everything would revert to its true form.

For someone from the Sixth Great Realm, it was not feasible to eradicate the entire fog, but clearing a small area of the evil energy was something done easily.

Then Owen saw the haggard group of people below. The leading Female General, despite her broken armor and injured beast, still showed a steadfast and spirited look with her ponytail flying. The muscular thighs were accompanied by a bow, and she held a long spear in her hand. She greeted Owen with a salute, "May I know where your excellency is from?"

Owen took a step and floated down, "I am Summit Commandant, Owen Bertram."

"The Sixth Great Realm!" A joyous cheer echoed from the crowd. The morale, which had previously hit rock bottom, visibly soared rapidly. Owen’s fame was well known from his time in the Capital when he entered the Sixth Great Realm and forced an equal battle with Colby Dominic. All he could say was, thanks to the fame gift package from Sir Dominic.

Owen asked the Female General, "Is the revered Lord, Greystone?"

"Indeed, it is me," she responded.

Seeing their dire odds, Owen took out several Healing Spirit Elixirs and said, "Distribute these among yourselves. Did you run into a group of Military Officers from the East Prison Town Comfort Office following your arrival?"

Greystone shook her head and said, "When I arrived, I relied on my familiarity with the geography and went directly to the office of the revered Lord. However, I encountered numerous oddities on the way. After a series of earthquakes and landslides, not only was I injured, but my subordinates also suffered heavy losses and we had to stay put here temporarily.

I saw the Thunder Lights released by you and couldn’t hold back in joining the battle... actually, it wasn’t so much joining the battle as seeking help."

The female general was indeed straightforward and candid. Owen, after looking around the energy barrier, asked, "Is this your treasure? It can actually block evil energy."

Greystone took out a small pure gold beast. It looked somewhat like a monkey but had extraordinarily large nostrils. From inside it emitted sand-like radiance forming the entire energy barrier.

"It’s a family treasure, but it has a limited range, covering at most a hundred people."

With one glance, Owen saw it was a Tier-6 Magical Instrument. He wasn’t too concerned with it but was surprised that Greystone, a mere revered Lord, was also at the Fifth Great Realm, probably somewhere between Tier-2 and Tier-3.

Donald Lee was also at the Fifth Great Realm and was similarly a revered Lord. In this era, the Grandmasters were not in the Imperial Court but in the military...This was indeed a sign of impending chaos!

He said to Greystone, "I’ve defended the entire Prefecture City with talismans, General Greystone, you have two options now. One, I can send you back, or two, continue with me to destroy the source of the Magic Wave..."

Greystone eagerly responded, "This general would like to follow you!"
