Chapter 598: Chapter 392: Hurry and Come into My Body _3
With a thunderous smack, the Commander’s Token struck Harrison Ainsworth again, causing him to let out a wretched scream. It felt as though a part of his soul had been burned away. But as a Tier-6 Power Realm practitioner, he was not dead yet.
"Huh?" Owen Bertram exclaimed as the Commander’s Token was raised high once more. Instead of striking down, he had a sudden idea, took out the Yin Soldier Tiger Talisman, and activated it. From it emerged the claws of seven or eight Tier-6 Great Demons, all grasping at Harrison Ainsworth.
Ainsworth was horrified; how could this fellow have such a vicious thing on him?
Geoff Ford had misled him; such important information was not investigated!
As a power realm practitioner of Tier-6, he could undoubtedly prevail against a single Tier-6 Great Ghost. However, facing several of them left him with little resistance, especially after being slapped twice by the Commander’s Token, which had severely wounded him.
Amid Ainsworth’s despairing cries, those giant hands gradually dragged him into the Tiger Talisman. His fate was self-evident: he would be devoured by those Great Ghosts.
"I’m such a resourceful little ghost, not only utilizing waste, but also strengthening my Ghost Army!" Owen thought smugly. He then placed both hands on the star bridge and urged the Array above his head, transferring Ainsworth’s cultivation into his own body.
Abner Lane arrived and scolded him, "You stinky kid, aren’t you afraid of bursting to death?!"
The sheer enormity of a Tier-6 Power Realm’s cultivation was staggering. It rushed in, making Owen’s entire body tremble and his eyes roll back in excitement for successfully plotting against a dying Sixth Great Realm and nearly securing immense benefits.
Although momentarily overwhelmed, Owen was not unprepared. He intended to use Ainsworth’s cultivation to enhance his own realm and then send any excess power to his second-in-command.
All he needed to do was reverse the route his subordinate usually took.
At the Sacrifice Platform, Geoff Ford and his men had already been slain. Master Lane stood proudly with his hands behind his back while the forces of the Southern Prison Town Comforting Office followed closely, keeping a distance of ten miles to prevent startling the enemy. As Master Lane took action, they received the signal and immediately engaged the general government forces, with battle cries erupting all around.
The Southern Prison Town Comforting Office had no intention of completely wiping out their adversaries, as they were all members of the Horizon Bureau. Nonetheless, the people around the Sacrifice Platform were the die-hard loyalists of Harrison Ainsworth. Despite knowing his death, few could be persuaded to surrender, making the situation grim.
With a fierce shout from Lane, it was as if the Nine Heavens had sent down a thunderbolt atop the Sacrifice Platform! Instantly, the Flying Sword soared into the sky, its sword Qi enveloping the area for ten miles. Under the pressure of the Seventh Level, the general government forces’ morale instantly shattered, making it much easier for Andrew Oamond and the others to clean up the battlefield and reduce casualties on both sides.
Master Lane paid no further attention to the ongoing battle below and turned to focus on Owen, his gaze even more solemn than before. He raised a finger and traced circles around Owen from a distance.
A glimmer of sword light flickered at the tip of his finger. As the circles grew smaller and smaller, it eventually consolidated into a single point and landed on a spiritual cavity on Owen’s chest.
The cultivation of Harrison Ainsworth absorbed into Owen’s body was restrained within those circles and ultimately sealed by Master Lane within that spiritual cavity!
Owen exhaled and gratefully bowed his fist, "Thank you for your help, Master." However, Master Lane did not respond. Upon another glance, Owen saw that Master Lane’s face was drawn with fatigue as he adjusted his breathing.
After all, Ainsworth’s was a Tier-6 Power Realm practitioner! To seal his entire cultivation without harming Owen was no easy feat for Master Lane!
Moreover, Owen sensed some critical information, and suddenly asked: "Master, did you...?"
Impatiently, Lane waved dismissively, "Don’t harp on meaningless things! It’s just that I’ve delayed my first Mini-world’s manifestation by three months. Who would have thought I’d have taken in such an unrestrained subordinate like you?"
A smile slowly emerged on Owen’s face, understanding that there was no need for false civility with Master Lane. Delaying the Mini-world manifestation for three months was not as insignificant as Master Lane had claimed. The difference between a Seventh Great Realm with and without a Mini-world was immense.
Without the Mini-world, Master Lane would still maintain an overwhelming advantage against the Sixth Great Realm, but killing would require considerable effort. With a Mini-world, however, he could directly pull the opponent in and immediately suppress them!
Moreover, during those three months, facing a Seventh Level with a Mini-world would leave Master Lane in a very passive position.
If Master Lane had a Mini-world during the Northwest War, he wouldn’t have struggled as much as he did.
But Owen also understood that even though Abner and Leonard always seemed to treat him like a pack mule while begrudging him better resources, it wasn’t because they didn’t care about him. They were just as helpless in the face of ridiculous imperial demands. They wanted to reward their hardworking and meritorious subordinates, but the circumstances made it impossible.
Master Lane had chosen to help Owen by compromising his own strength due to this sense of guilt. Yet, prideful as he was, this "small" favor was not something he would remember or expect Owen to feel indebted for.
This was entirely different from the leaders Owen had known in his previous life, who had always expected lifelong gratitude in return for any favors granted.
