Chapter 523: Chapter 371: Beyond Top-Level_2

"Forget it. Don’t think about it. The treasure is in my hands, why not use it? However, I will have to change my initial plan." Originally, I planned to practice some inferior flying sword skills, but that’s not necessary anymore. I can bear the consumption of top-ranking flying sword skills, so I can take them as my regular offensive means.

"What I am searching for now, is more powerful and consuming top-tier flying sword arts."

Owen Bertram checked all the sword skills here again, but the highest level is the ten he had selected. Owen Bertram then started to rummage around this layer: "This is the base of the Horizon Bureau. Hasn’t anybody hidden some special flying sword arts over the years?"

Owen Bertram searched for a long time but still found nothing. He incredulously yanked his hair, carefully knocked on bookshelves, chairs, and even the floor to see if anything was hidden inside—but he still found nothing.

Owen Bertram almost pried open the floorboards of the stairs...

Since Owen Bertram entered, the Hunchbacked Man on the first floor lit an oil lamp in his cabin. The light of the lamp displayed all of Owen Bertram’s actions.

At first, the hunchbacked man only glanced casually, but when Owen Bertram successfully mastered the first flying sword skill, a stunning light flashed in the cloudy eyes of the Hunchbacked Man. He muttered to himself, "Nine Heavens Falling God Sword, he mastered it very quickly. This sword skill suits him very well..."

Therefore, the Hunchbacked Man started paying more attention to him. When Owen Bertram successfully mastered the ten top-ranking flying sword skills, the Hunchbacked Man was stunned: "Could it be that..."

When Owen Bertram was rummaging on the third layer and almost prying up the stairs, the elder’s displeased voice came: "What are you doing?!"

Owen Bertram chuckled, quickly changing his thought, and asked, "Senior, is there any more powerful and more consuming flying sword art? These aren’t challenging at all. Does our Horizon Bureau only have these little things after so many years?"

In the cabin on the first floor, the heart of the Hunchbacked Man jumped, but he coldly snorted, "So young, so naive! Wait a moment."

A joy surged in Owen Bertram’s heart: There’s hope!

The sound of footsteps echoed on the stairs. The Hunchbacked Man holding the oil lamp slowly came up and said, "Follow me. I’ll broaden your horizons."

Owen Bertram obediently followed him.

The Hunchbacked Man climbed up the stairs, counting numbers under his breath. When he reached the eighth step, he suddenly stomped seven times at a specific rhythm. Owen Bertram saw the winding staircase in front of him suddenly leveling off, revealing a special space.

Owen Bertram blurted, "Is this the third and a half layer?"

The Hunchbacked Man led him in, boasting, "People think the Rewarding Merits Tower only has seven layers, but it actually has fourteen."

He lifted the oil lamp to illuminate the space. The books stored here all looked serious. Each one was sealed with an array or an object.

"There are five sword skills here. Let’s see which one you are destined to. We’ve always believed that when you get here, it’s not only you choosing the sword skills, but also the sword skills choosing you." The Hunchbacked Man put down the oil lamp, turned around and left Owen Bertram alone, "See if you are this lucky."

Owen Bertram clearly felt where the five sword skills were stored. He wanted to engage with each of them as an overbearing sword skill flirt, but a sense of caution floated to his heart.

The sword skills here are different from those on the lower half floor. If you get too greedy, you might fail catastrophically!

He wandered around, following his intuition. To his left was a big heavy seashell, with radially protruding edges. It was a natural array of rays.

Inside Owen Bertram, the Flying Sword Object System rose up and hovered and rotated.

Outside, the giant seashell automatically opened, revealing a pure golden pearl, its surface intricately inscribed with tiny swords in different postures.

Two steps further along, there’s a temple-shaped cabinet. When Owen Bertram stood next to it, the two small temple doors opened automatically. You could see a faceless deity inside, holding a sword in its hand which seemed to demonstrate a complete set of sword skills.

The third one was a coffin, bound with layers of reddish-gold chains. When Owen Bertram got close, the coffin lightly vibrated and the chains relaxed with a rattle. The coffin cover automatically slid open revealing a crack. The light shone in, vaguely revealing an ancient book inside, with a broken sword drawn on the cover.

The fourth one was a small rock hill; originally an inanimate object. But after Owen Bertram showed up, vitality appeared suddenly in the rock hill, and a cloud of rosy cloud and mist rose. The mist swirled in the hill with the wind, seeming to have a sense of sword intent!

The fifth one was a metal book, as big as a person, huge and heavy. The cover seemed to be cast from bronze, with two old-fashioned swords crossed in the middle, with a lock hole at the crossing point.

When Owen Bertram came over, the lock hole turned by itself without a key, clacking, and then unlocked. The two crossed swords on the cover moved apart, and then the heavy cover kindly and automatically lifted halfway open!

The Hunchbacked Man, who had pretended to be unconcerned before, secretly watched the scene from his small room on the first floor, his hands shaking and pulling out one of his mustache hairs in surprise!
