Chapter 446: Chapter 350: Ancient Qi (Part 2)
Back in the village, Owen Bertram had limited knowledge and a narrow horizon, so he couldn’t think of so many things. However, since he left the village and knew the location of Extinct Village, it became more and more strange: those giant creatures were all Tier-6 and above, and each of them had a huge body. As long as they appeared in the human territory, they would cause huge losses and attract the siege of the Grandmaster.
But since he left the village, Owen has never heard of any similar news.
If they were to travel from Copper Gorge Extinction Domain down the river and then go ashore to Burning Hillock, geographically, Burning Hillock is closer to Moe River, and there would be no need for the giant creatures to take a detour.
So - how did they get to the outside of the village?
As time reached the second half of the night, through the eyes of the cicada, Owen suddenly saw something shining in the endless mountains outside the village. The radiance wasn’t intense, but it was very eye-catching in the pitch-dark night.
With a thought, the cicada immediately flew over. The radiance slowly expanded, and Owen could see that the radiance gradually condensed into a huge halo, and something seemed to be burrowing out from the center!
Just as he wanted to get closer, a sudden wave burst out from the halo, sweeping over the surroundings for several dozen miles. Ordinary plants were not affected at all, like they had been blown by a gust of wind, but the cicada, planted with Spirit Seed, exploded with a crack and a mysterious punishment followed, invading his body along the link between him and the cicada!
Owen’s vision turned black, and his head felt like it was struck heavily. He groaned, blood seeping from his nostrils, and he almost fell off the tree.
With a buzzing noise in his head, various chaotic and illusionary thoughts flashed through his mind, and the confusion almost caused him to undergo a Demonic Transformation!
At the critical moment, the Peach of Response and the Commander’s Token floated up together, releasing a gentle force to mend his damaged soul.
By the time Owen came back to his senses, he saw a monstrous creature, with an elephant body, snake neck, and dragon head, covered in demonic flames and chains of lightning. It had already passed the village, crushed several houses, and walked into the range of the Burning Hillock with a crazed look in its eyes.
Throughout this process, Owen had a very clear realization: This unknown giant creature was indifferent to everything outside of itself; it only had one goal, and that was Burning Hillock!
No matter if it was the cicada, Extinct Village, or himself hiding in the tree, the giant creature didn’t care whether it sensed them or not. The injuries suffered by the cicada and himself were also unintentional actions of the giant creature, merely collateral damage as a result of it coming through the halo.
That kind of halo should be some powerful space transmission, so these giant creatures did not come through a long journey.
Owen saw the front range of Burning Hillock and the crack amongst it. He still remembered that as soon as he crossed the crack, something terrible would happen, and now that giant creature had stepped on the crack, with various strange changes erupting from its body.
This was the first time Owen had seen a giant creature entering Burning Hillock with his own eyes!
After the creature crossed the crack, it seemed to be bearing a heavy burden as well. With every step it took, it would roar skywards. Each step was incredibly heavy, leaving deep footprints on the ground.
Owen quietly exclaimed in astonishment: "At least Tire-8, very likely Tire-9!"
The giant creature persisted until it reached the large mound of Burning Hillock. Suddenly, the ground beneath its feet seemed to open up, and its huge body fell down!
However, in Owen’s view, there was a sense of "separation." It seemed as if Burning Hillock had opened up, but he saw that it had not changed at all. It was difficult to explain how exactly the giant creature had fallen into Burning Hillock.
As soon as the giant creature "fell," all the peculiarities on Burning Hillock disappeared, even those deep footprints left by the giant creature gradually vanished!
However, during the time when Burning Hillock seemed to be opened, a wisp of special light floated out from beneath it - the light was extremely faint, barely the thickness of a strand of hair, and very inconspicuous, about to dissipate in the space between the heavens and the earth.
If Elder Brother had not mentioned the "Ancient Spirit," he might not even have noticed this wisp of light.
But whether this was the so-called "Ancient Spirit" or not, Owen couldn’t be sure. He called out to his brother, "Is this what you’re looking for?"
Elder Brother stretched his head out of Julian Gourd, looked at the light with squinted eyes, and said, "Indeed, it is. Why are you still hesitating, Owen? Hurry and collect it."
Owen didn’t know what to say; this was the incredibly dangerous Burning Hillock! No living beings that entered it could ever come out alive! He wanted to collect it, but how? He couldn’t even get close to that wisp of Ancient Spirit.
Little Loach was startled by Owen’s words and thought, "Is it really that difficult?" It raised its head towards the Ancient Spirit that had already floated halfway up into the sky, gently sucked in, and the wavering Ancient Spirit slowly drifted over.
Owen stared in astonishment, quickly realizing: My cultivation depends on Elder Brother!
What nonsense about self-reliance and self-improvement; holding tightly onto Elder Brother’s thigh was the way to go.
He immediately changed his facial expression, full of flattery: "My brother is truly extraordinary. Your importance in the family is second only to my little sister. I’m far from comparable to you, Elder Brother. From now on, I’ll strive to find various delicious foods for you!"
