Chapter 289: Chapter 284: Blood-eyed Flood Dragon Python (Happy New Year Everyone!)_1

Threadworm finally started to pull back, but after trying several times, it not only failed to pull back, but instead was dragged out dozens of feet further by Magpie!

By this time, the length of Threadworm exposed had already exceeded two hundred feet.

"What a fellow!" Sophia exclaimed, vaguely feeling that something was not right.

Threadworm began to twist, Magpie let out a squeaky cry, its body suddenly stabilized, wings spread outwards, expanding to at least twice its original size!

It turned out that this fellow had been holding back half of its wings just now.

With its wings fully spread, Magpie flapped vigorously, pulling the Threadworm out another ten feet or so. At this point, the Threadworm panicked and furiously contracted its body. As they tugged back and forth, Magpie suddenly lowered its head, bit the Threadworm, and with a powerful flap of its wings, soared into the sky, pulling the entire Threadworm out!

Sophia was dumbfounded: It was her miscalculation, the gray-feathered Magpie was the hunter.

Threadworm swiftly shrank back, trying to entangle Magpie, but Magpie forcefully bit the Threadworm off. The lower part of the Threadworm fell, Magpie circled back, wings flapping rapidly, and powerful quills cutting through the Threadworm like a flying sword. Then, Magpie happily chased after the pieces in midair, swallowing the Threadworm one bite at a time.

Sophia watched, her mind slightly lost. Suddenly, she stomped her foot: "It’s over, my Tier-6 Spiritual Medicine!"

Indeed, after Magpie finished the Threadworm, it descended into the sky, retracted its wings, and its enormous claws stepped on the flowers, turning the beautiful white flower bed into a complete mess.

Magpie tilted its head, looked at the Spirit Fruits, then extended its neck and swallowed the fruit.

With tears on the verge of falling, Sophia couldn’t bear to compete for the spoils with the Magpie. If she couldn’t even win against the Threadworm, let alone the Magpie.

"Lifeless Gorge is too dangerous," cried Sophia, "I should just focus on getting out alive."

She glanced at the gray-feathered Magpie once more, grinding her teeth in hatred: "What kind of monsters are these!?"

Suddenly, Sophia’s face changed. She quickly pressed herself against the rock wall and cautiously looked behind her. A series of thunderous echoes sounded from within the valley, followed by a tremor reaching Sophia’s feet. The whole mountain was shaking!

A huge snakehead shot out from the gorge she had just crossed. Rigid scales of the snake scraped against the rocky wall, rubbing off large chunks of broken rocks and sparks. Debris slid down, disappearing into the darkness without an echo.

The massive snakehead and its cold, emotionless eyes were just over a hundred feet away from Sophia, staring straight at her.

Sophia felt like she had fallen into an ice cellar, her entire body stiffening, unable to move—this was a Tire-5 Monster, which had been sleeping beneath the gorge. Why did it suddenly move to her side?

Soon she had her answer. Several people floated up behind the back of the Flood Dragon Python, standing on top of its head. As they appeared, the two sharp bony wings on the neck of the huge snake suddenly unfurled with a swoosh, and the Flood Dragon Python took on an attacking pose, targeting Sophia!

Among them, the leader was none other than "Elder Collins," not from the Harrison Clan, but a Clan Elder from Kai County’s Chen family. As his cultivation was extraordinary, he was elected by everyone to preside over the joint plan and maintain order in Black-water County.

Sophia sneered coldly, asking, "Where’s the monster?"

Without answering, Elder Collins said indifferently, "If you tell me who ordered you, I can make a decision on your behalf to free your soul and let you reincarnate. Otherwise, you will suffer endless pain and both body and soul will be destroyed!"

With a cold snort, Sophia set three layers of different-colored spiritual light ablaze on her body, "No one ordered me, I just wanted to steal something from Harrison Clan. I didn’t expect to see your group of ruthless people cultivating that monster!"Elder Collins shook his head solemnly: "You’re indeed obstinate, just wait for death."

He waved his hand gently and turned around with his subordinates. Suddenly, blood-red was injected into the eyes of the Flood Dragon Python, quickly filling its huge snake eyes. The python let out a dull roar, opening its mouth wide towards Sophia.

Sophia felt cold sweat dripping down, but she didn’t blame the Lord anymore: "This time... I’m afraid we really can’t escape. I just can’t let go of the little fellows at home."

"You can’t blame others, since I took the money for this job. They’ve paid me well, but I didn’t finish the job for them. In the end, I owe them."

The python roared and rose into the air, bringing a terrifying force that pressed down. Sophia would never sit and wait for death. She had secret techniques taught by the tower to burn her life and enhance her fighting abilities. She would fight for a chance for her soul to escape.

But just as she was about to activate the secret technique, the python suddenly stopped — all its movements halted abruptly and stayed in one position, motionless.

The blood-red color in the huge snake eyes quickly faded away.

Elder Collins’ roar echoed through the gorge: "Who’s there?!"

Two rainbow-colored auras soared into the sky, illuminating the entire gorge. Sophia recognized them as Elder Collins’ two Lifebound Artifacts, with the auras wrapping around the two fish-shaped Flying Swords, which could move as if they were alive.

When she sneaked into the Harrison Clan’s old house and spied on the ancient well in the backyard, she was discovered by Elder Collins and defeated by the Flying Fish Swords.

These treasures were very powerful; otherwise, even in the Fourth Great Realm, she could have resisted a general Fifth Great Domain for a while, instead of being defeated so easily and fleeing in embarrassment.

But just as the pair of Flying Fish Swords appeared and their auras illuminated the gorge, the auras suddenly vanished!

Not a trace of the aura remained.

Elder Collins’ cry of surprise came through: "What is it?"

Then, the rainbow-colored aura suddenly burst out again, but this time it was accompanied by Elder Collin’s scream. Sophia was puzzled when suddenly, a magnificent blade light soared up from the other side of the gorge. After a series of screams, everything quieted down.

Sophia was anxious and wanted to take the opportunity to escape, but the Flood Dragon Python was still in front of her. She guessed that the python should have been restrained, but she didn’t dare to take a risk; what if it wasn’t?

She stayed motionless, hearing footsteps coming from the other side.

...

Owen Bertram brought people to the Lifeless Gorge, but the cultivators guarding the perimeter couldn’t stop them. Owen trusted Sophia and believed Magpie and Little Ghost Dave would protect her. He wasn’t aware the Magpie siblings had stolen the opponent’s Tier-6 Spiritual Medicine and eaten it.

Following the clues, they came in and saw a very strange scene:

In the gorge, the Tire-5 Monster Flood Dragon Python stretched its huge body, raising its upper part high, but was suppressed by a pitch-black coffin on its tail.

A piece of brocade covered the coffin with a big red "Wedding" character embroidered on it.

Strands of blood, like threadworms, crawled out of the coffin and entered the snake’s tail.
