Chapter 281: Chapter 278: Dreaming of the Ancient Past (Three-in-One Big Chapter) _2
There were not enough people in the tribe for those Demon Beasts to devour—several Beasts would bite into one person, tearing them apart and gobbling up the pieces!
Like locusts, the group of Demon Beasts passed through the tribe, leaving nothing behind.
Owen Bertram sighed deeply, only now understanding how incredibly difficult it was for the human race to survive in that ancient era. For their ancestors to rise against fate and become the masters of this world was truly awe-inspiring!
As the scene with the hundreds of thousands of Demon Beasts became blurry, Owen Bertram found himself on a majestic city wall made of massive stones.
The humans in the city had already learned to cultivate, forging powerful weapons and armor.
Squads of human warriors swiftly ascended the city walls, supporting their comrades defending the city.
Outside the city walls, a few Great Demons led the charge, with Demon Soldiers and swarms of Demon Beasts crazily rushing towards the city. Like a tide, the Demon Soldiers battered the city walls as if they were levees. Although some of "the tide" would be swept away, others would arrive on the city walls, causing extensive casualties among the humans.
Owen Bertram suddenly heard a deep, hearty battle cry. He looked back to see a nine-foot-tall human warrior standing on top of the watchtower, drawing his crude Giant Sword. Holding the sword high, he leapt into the air and crashed into the Demon Soldiers below, leaving a hundred-foot-long gash in their ranks!
The scene became faint once again, as if that terrible struggle was drifting farther away from the present day human race.
The surroundings coalesced once more, yet with a thin layer of bloody red.
The ground beneath his feet was shattered, surrounded by broken mountains. The Great River was cut off, and its waters flooded everywhere. More powerful forces had sealed the void, preventing any interference from other existences.
This place was a dangerous battlefield.
The opponents in the duel hovered in the middle of the battlefield.
On one side stood an ancient Demon Clan member whose presence reached the heavens. He had three heads: a bull-like head in the middle, a snake-like head on the left side, and a ghost-like head with tusks on the right side!
His massive body resembled a mountain, covered entirely in black fur, with a thin white streak running down the middle of his back.
Boundless demonic power mixed with the power of death churned around him.
In his hand, he firmly gripped a strangely-shaped long spear. The spear’s handle was a thick bone, and the spear’s tip was a polished translucent red gemstone that imprisoned the souls of the Bai Clans, continuously emitting heartbreaking shrieks.
The Sky-piercing Spear!
Owen Bertram was struck with a thought: this Great Demon must be Ming Solomon!
On the handle of Ming Solomon’s Sky-piercing Spear, a group of bright lights kept bursting out—these were condensed killing intent.
Owen Bertram noticed that the spear’s handle looked familiar—it was identical to the bone he had found at Lava Lake!
Standing opposite Ming Solomon was a human warrior.
He wore a Tiger Demon fur robe and a helmet made from an intricately-carved Demon Dragon skull. His body was covered in battle scars, and he was bleeding uncontrollably in several places, with droplets of blood falling to the ground.
His face was simple rather than handsome, like an ordinary person’s.
Although covered in wounds and looking exhausted, his eyes still shone brightly, filled with an unyielding spirit and no hint of retreat!
His war blade had broken and was now only three feet long, with shattered iron fragments scattered across the ground.
Ming Solomon raised the Sky-piercing Spear in his hand, the dark red tip pointing towards the Marco Clan warrior, as if the imprisoned Bai Clan souls trapped inside the gemstone wanted to burst out and devour his body.
"You miscalculated," Ming Solomon’s voice resounded, as if it could rule this heaven and earth. "If you could have endured for a hundred more years, even I wouldn’t be able to reverse the situation!"
Marco Clan’s warrior firmly replied, "Endure? The endurance you propose would require me to watch millions of our people be massacred along your bloody rampage!"
Ming Solomon laughed loudly, shaking the Vault of Heaven. "Hahaha, this is the open conspiracy! On this journey, I am forcing you to watch your people be killed. If you can’t take it and come out to fight, the momentum of the human race’s impending rise will be broken and its destiny shattered; if you can endure, I will still claim my victory and take a heavy toll on the human race, causing you to falter and be subdued, buying my clan three hundred more years!"
"However, if I were you, I would endure! Choosing between lying low for three hundred years and severing the connection with destiny is not difficult."
Marco Clan’s warrior shook his head gently, clutching his broken blade.
"Endure? We can’t endure watching our people being butchered because we have emotions! We’re human!
Not like you, who are only a slightly more intelligent group of beasts, capable of harming your own kind at most.
Understand? You’re all beasts, and there is no essential difference between you and the Demon Beasts!"
Ming Solomon sneered mockingly, "Facing death, all you have left is your stubbornness!"
He thrust the Sky-piercing Spear forward and the broken blade rose to meet it!
Owen Bertram saw the most exciting part of the battle, as the Demon Clan’s Great Sage and the human race’s hero tore apart the heavens and shattered the earth, plunging the sun and moon into darkness. Although he knew the outcome of the fight, Owen Bertram’s blood still boiled with anticipation, his heart harboring a sliver of hope that victory would ultimately belong to the Marco Clan’s warrior.
But in the end, the dust settled and the warrior of the Marco Clan fell to his knees. His snake head was cut off, his ghost head completely obliterated, and only one head remained with a broken horn and blinded eyes.
On his body, the short blade had left a gigantic open wound with several organs spilling out onto the ground.
