Chapter 269: Chapter 267: A Cut on Paper (Part 2)_1
Although the Sixth Great Realm directly attacked Owen Bertram and David, Vanessa Thoughts of Shadow, the weakest among them, could not hold on. Blood flowed from her eyes, nose, and mouth, and her body went limp as she fell to the ground.
Owen Bertram was in immense pain, his two fingers felt as if they were genuinely hooked to his soul! He strained every muscle and let out a roar.
All the Responsive Objects on his body came into motion: the golden sword, the gourd, the peach, the Command Token, the Great Seal, and the Jade Cicada!
Each of their powers surged, pouring into the Ancient Lamp Artifact along his Spirit Vein!
The flame suddenly shot up! Originally just a small spark, it roared into several feet long colossal flame - the Sixth Great Realm felt a sudden burning sensation on his two fingers, involuntarily twitching his wrist.
Owen Bertram rolled backwards, temporarily escaping control. However, his nose bled profusely, unstoppable. He felt a heavy dizziness, as if his consciousness was dripping out of his brain with his blood!
He didn’t care about anything else, and slapped his chest, letting a piece of paper fly out. Owen Bertram roared, "Master Lane, it’s all up to you!"
The Sixth Great Realm’s two fingers only felt slightly discomforted, after a little movement, they were about to hook Owen Bertram’s soul again. He saw the paper automatically floated up, burning in flames, and the knife drawn on the paper burned to ashes, but remained in the air.
The blade pointed to the Sixth Great Realm!
The Sixth Great Realm was slightly stunned, withdrawing his hands and lifting all "restrictions" on the surrounding Domain. He held his hands in front of him and asked gravely, "Abner Lane?!"
Owen Bertram picked up Vanessa Thoughts of Shadow and retreated a hundred feet - As for David, he should be alright, right?
David fell to the ground with a thud, drained of energy. No one knew what he had experienced in that illusory realm. As soon as he emerged and caught his breath, he saw Master Lane’s blade restraining the Sixth Great Realm!
David was terrified. He couldn’t withstand a confrontation of this level, and feared the aftermath of Master’s attack. If he got caught in it, he would suffer a terrible fate!
David mustered his remaining strength, mimicking a Little Loach flopping on the ground. He shot toward Owen Bertram, "Master, take me with you!"
That was the first time David called him "Master." After all, his life was at stake, and it was time to be humble.
Owen Bertram struggled as well, with blood pouring from his nostrils. Vanessa Thoughts of Shadow he held was in an even worse state - blood flowing from all seven of her facial orifices!
Owen Bertram ran desperately towards the distance, only to feel a roar above, a dark shadow slammed down, they all tumbled down.
Owen Bertram cursed as he climbed up and grabbed one with each hand, rolling and crawling to continue their escape. Unfortunately, during a fall, David was accidentally flung from his left hand while holding on to Vanessa Thoughts of Shadow.
David’s face rolled on the ground and turned up to the sky. He looked at his Master with resentment, eighty percent sure it was intentional!
But at this moment, he couldn’t say or ask anything, just hoping not to die so miserably...
Owen Bertram had no time to explain, and even if he did, David probably wouldn’t believe him. He grabbed David again and continued to stagger towards the distance.
The blade in the air radiated a dazzling light, and Abner Lane’s voice rang out: "Adair Barton, it is indeed you!"
"With the Four Symbols involved, I knew there must be someone very familiar with the Horizon Bureau secretly plotting this."
"After pondering, the only one it could be is you, the traitor of the Horizon Bureau!"
The Sixth Great Realm Adair Barton snorted coldly, "Among the entire Horizon Bureau, you, Abner Lane, are the most cunning!""You deliberately didn’t show yourself, only letting the children below mess around in Casterly County, just to lure me out, right?"
"And you’ve been scheming not to announce your promotion to the Seventh Level so you could plot against me with this one strike!"
Abner Lane’s hearty laughter rang out from the slash: "You really are cunning. No wonder they laid out so many traps back then, and yet you still managed to escape!"
"You also guessed there might be a trap, so you never showed your face. Even when Owen and the others captured Reed Blade and killed those monsters, you didn’t show up, focusing solely on finding Marco Clan and the Sky-piercing Spear."
"But you never expected that my people would actually find you, and that I’ve already advanced to the Seventh Level. Even if I can’t be there in person, this strike will be enough to take your life!"
"Traitor, did you ever think that this day would come!?"
But Adair Barton didn’t seem panicked; instead, he sneered: "Heh heh, I certainly didn’t expect you would actually make it to the Seventh Level. But since I already suspected a trap, how could I be unprepared?"
"I didn’t expect you to be at the Seventh Level, and you didn’t expect me to have the ’Cloud Stacked Peaks’!"
His folded hands suddenly released, and a mass of dark purple light, like clouds and flowers, rapidly spread in front of him. Within it, various spirit inscriptions and arrays constantly swirled into existence; one more profound than the last. Those below the Fifth Great Realm, after one look, would feel their minds spin, unconsciously being drawn in and struggling to break free!
The light spread rapidly, enveloping Adair Barton who then sped away to the back at an astonishing speed.
Abner Lane bellowed with anger, and in a flash of the blade, it was as if a second sun had risen in the sky. The intense radiance blinded everyone, but they could still clearly see that the slash ignored distance as it slashed towards Adair Barton.
But the mighty Seventh Level strike fell in front of Adair Barton, only to sink into layer upon layer of mire, trapped in layers of condensed space.
’Cloud Stacked Peaks’ is a Tire-7 Magical Weapon, said to have five layers of void within. Each layer is vast and boundless, able to encompass all things!
When used for defense, it can trap various attack methods within layers of empty space.
When used for offense, it can trap enemies within this emptiness, leaving them unable to escape for their entire lives.
Simply put, it is layers upon layers of interdimensional space.
Just as the blade began to shine, Owen heard Abner Lane’s voice in his ear: "Run!"
"This traitor is deeply valued by King IIias and even has the ’Cloud Stacked Peaks’ to protect himself. This strike cannot kill him."
"I’m already fleeing at full speed. If you can hold out for fifteen minutes, I can come to you!"
However, he didn’t say what would happen if they couldn’t hold out for fifteen minutes...
Owen almost couldn’t help but curse. Was the Seventh Level this unreliable? What happened to that air of easily annihilating someone at the Sixth Great Realm? Where was the confidence that calculated for every possibility?
You knew it was this traitor and didn’t even give me a heads-up in advance. What were you trying to do? Wait for this strike to appear and make a grand entrance?
See if you can still play with your bold presentation now? Can’t it step down from your pedestal, Horizon Bureau’s Giant Head? Can’t save face for the Twin Heroes of the New Policy, can you?
You’re just losing a bit of face, but I’m about to be killed by your fucking trap!
As he cursed wildly, he did his best to draw out every last bit of strength from his body, striving to fly away with all his might. Then, a surge of violent power swept over his back, pushing him forward in a headlong rush...
