Chapter 239: Chapter 237: Is He Really in Seclusion? _1

"My subordinates wouldn’t dare." The soldier quickly assembled twenty military officers, got on their horses, and followed Elder Harrison to the entrance of George Estate. There were several checkpoints set up by Owen Bertram around George Estate. When a group of men suddenly approached in the dead of night, an alarm was sounded towards the estate, alerting the garrison.

At the same time, three crossbow arrows landed in front of Elder Harrison’s hooves. Ethereal Devin shouted from the checkpoint, "Halt!"

Elder Harrison said, "It’s me. I come to visit Lord Owen regarding the important matter of the treasure mine!"

Ethereal Devin peered out and recognized Elder Harrison with a sigh of relief, "Elder Harrison, please follow me."

As they entered the estate, the most worried person was not David, but Eric Reed! He stumbled and scrambled to the front of Elder Harrison’s horse, "Lord, why have you come so late?"

Elder Harrison glared at him fiercely, "You’ve made a mess!"

Eric Reed’s heart trembled: Did the lord find out? It shouldn’t be. Leading Elder Harrison’s horse, he lowered his head and rapidly calculated how to get through this situation.

Elder Harrison grew more and more uneasy and took a chance to ask Eric Reed in a low voice, "Tell me the truth, has Owen Bertram not gone out these past two days? Is he really in his room when he says closed-door cultivation?"

Eric Reed could only toughen up, "He’s really in his room, I arrived early and have been keeping an eye on his door."

"Hmph!" Elder Harrison snorted coldly, ignoring Eric Reed.

When the group arrived at the entrance of Owen Bertram’s courtyard, David was standing at the door with his sword still in its sheath, placed in front of him. He stood with both of his hands folded on the hilt, and asked with an unpleasant tone, "What is going on?"

Elder Harrison stiffened his face: "I have important information and need to inform Lord Owen in person. Please bring him out."

"My lord is in seclusion. You, Elder Harrison, are also a cultivator. You know that the enlightenment of cultivation can vanish in an instant. If you delay my lord’s cultivation, can you, Elder Harrison, make up for it?"

Elder Harrison would not back off; he had to make sure whether Owen Bertram was really in his room or not today!

He would be in deep trouble if Owen Bertram went out secretly to investigate!

"Lord Owen was assigned to Casterly County by the Horizon Bureau, not because it’s an auspicious place for his breakthrough. He was given the task of investigating. I have important clues about the treasure mine. If Lord Owen doesn’t come out, he is neglecting his duties!" Elder Harrison was fierce and stern. David’s intimidation was enough to scare Eric Reed and the previous Elder Harrison, but not the current one.

David racked his brain, but couldn’t find a good excuse. While worrying, the door behind him opened, and Owen Bertram came out with a somber face.

The most surprised person who stood behind Elder Harrison was Eric Reed: He really was cultivating behind closed doors!

He had always thought Owen Bertram had sneaked out to look for clues.

Owen Bertram shook his body, a series of spiritual energy explosions sounded, and layers of spiritual light poured out of his body like a lotus.

Elder Harrison’s face remained stiff, but his mouth couldn’t help but widen: Just now, Owen Bertram had broken through from the Fifth Level of the Dao Tower Realm to the Fourth Great Realm of the "Hidden Treasure Realm" since their first meeting!

Elder Harrison couldn’t discern the extent of such a level, as his strength and Owen Bertram’s were too far apart.

Owen Bertram remained expressionless with the power of a newly promoted Hidden Treasure Realm Grandmaster. Elder Harrison couldn’t help but feel dwarfed, and his previous arrogance was gone as he unconsciously bent his body.

This was the natural class difference between cultivators! It was also the humility shown by common cultivators like Elder Harrison, who struggled for progress but made little headway, when facing genius cultivators like Owen Bertram who ranked in the Fourth Great Realm at a young age!

Eric Reed’s eyes widened even more: It really was because of some insight that he went into seclusion? Furthermore, it was due to that little glimpse of insight that he successfully advanced an entire Great Realm! Did I just guard the outside in vain for a day? And even getting threatened by the Feather Cavalry General...

Owen Bertram indifferently pointed at Elder Harrison, "Elder Harrison really cares about me, huh? Bringing so many people and looking so imposing, coming to see if I’m really in seclusion. Haha!"

Elder Harrison once again deeply felt the difference in status between cultivators. Owen Bertram’s finger, more than a yard away, made Elder Harrison feel as if it was pointing at his nose as he spoke.

Elder Harrison said reluctantly, "Subordinate... wouldn’t dare! I am here to see Lord Owen for official business."

Owen Bertram sneered coldly, waving his hand, "Everyone else disperse. Since Elder Harrison says there’s official business, please come inside to talk."

The others hurriedly scattered, Elder Harrison’s subordinates followed Eric Reed, looking dejected. Their lord was completely suppressed by others, so who could have the spirit?

David naturally followed in, then there were Old Fisher and Vanessa Thoughts of Shadow. The others didn’t feel qualified to eavesdrop and obediently retreated.

However, Owen Bertram stopped Nathan Lane, "You come in and listen as well."

Nathan Lane was delighted, feeling grateful in his heart, and replied respectfully, "Your subordinate obeys."

Owen Bertram quietly returned to George Estate not long after receiving the warmth from the second prey, having already digested it.

He merely used the warmth to temporarily advance himself, saving the other benefits for later, after dealing with Elder Harrison’s matter.

Inside the room, the bed was arranged with meditation cushions, looking like a closed-door cultivation setup. But Elder Harrison didn’t dare to reach out and test for any warmth.

Owen Bertram sat down nonchalantly and asked, "What important information does Elder Harrison have?"

Elder Harrison didn’t have any information; he just came to make sure if Owen Bertram was really at George Estate. His original plan was to simply meet or not meet with Owen Bertram, which would have accomplished the goal of his trip.

If he really met Owen Bertram, he would make something up on the spot to get rid of him.

But who would have thought that Owen Bertram would break through while in front of him? Not only a small level but the entire Fourth Great Realm!

Under such circumstances, it wouldn’t be easy to bluff... Elder Harrison was very sure that after he revealed the information, Owen Bertram would drag him along to check it. It wouldn’t be easy to pass the test if it was false.

Owen Bertram’s current dominance was simply overwhelming!

Elder Harrison racked his brain, pondering his options.

Owen Bertram eyed him and tapped the table with his knuckles, each tap seemingly knocking on Elder Harrison’s heart.

"Why isn’t Elder Harrison talking?" Owen Bertram sneered coldly.

Elder Harrison plucked up the courage to say, "It’s like this, today my subordinates were patrolling and discovered that there seem to be Element-devouring Bees haunting Elmer Mountain."

Without Owen Bertram’s instructions, Nathan Lane had already spread out a map of Casterly County, locating Elmer Mountain.

Owen Bertram glanced at the map and couldn’t help but feel a little moved in his heart.

The location of Elmer Mountain was right in the middle of Bamboo Slope, Lion Cave, and Underwater Cave in Summit River.
