Chapter 162: Chapter 160: Warm-hearted Spencer Aiden_1
Although it was not the day for the Small or Grand Gathering, the Ghost Market was already in full swing, with numerous shops and street peddlers everywhere.
Little Loach was still struggling and couldn’t be summoned, and such a "low-end" task would not be appropriate for an Honored Lord’s Envoy to handle.
Owen Bertram had an idea and released Spencer Aiden’s soul, practicing the Three Divided Spirit Skill, refining the soul by reversing the "Spirit Absorption" method.
After transforming into a ghost being, Spencer Aiden was originally in the second rank. Now his ghostly soul was even more solidified, making him a strong being within the second rank.
Then, Owen Bertram prepared some Spirit Jade and picked out a few low-rank magical instruments he had no use for. He gave them to Spencer Aiden, who controlled the ghostly soul, and set off for the Ghost Zone.
Upon arriving at the entrance to the Ghost Zone, Owen Bertram saw a crowd of people blocking the way.
A Ghost Knight was guarding the entrance, arguing with someone.
Spencer Aiden squeezed to the front and asked others, "What’s going on?"
Spencer Aiden and his fellow members were chosen to infiltrate the Wood Dynasty by the Young Master because they looked similar to Wood People, only darker and shorter.
The surrounding ghosts and spirits did not realize that the foreign ghost was among them and pointed forward, "A living person wants to enter."
"A living person?" Owen Bertram was surprised, "Does he know this is our territory?"
"He knows, he’s a cultivator and thinks he’s great."
Owen Bertram squeezed to the front and saw the Bamboo Hat Woman, a slim figure wearing a bamboo hat, standing in front of the Ghost Knight. She was indeed a cultivator, with the radiance of spiritual energy flashing around her, able to resist the corrosive ghostly atmosphere of the Ghost Zone. However, her actual cultivation level was unclear.
"If you open the door for business, why won’t you let me in? What difference does it make if I’m a living person? I don’t mind that you are a bunch of ghost beings, yet you’re actually afraid of me being a living person?" Her voice was low and hoarse, apparently not of a young age.
"Or is it that your Ghost Market has rules forbidding the living from trading?"
With her questioning, the Ghost Knight was indeed held back. He pondered for a while and indeed, there were many rules about living people in the Ghost Zone, such as not being allowed to consume their blood and flesh.
However, there wasn’t such a rule specifically forbidding living people from buying and selling goods.
Ghost Knight stopped her, "I have sent someone to consult the Judge Lord, please wait a moment."
Owen Bertram called out from behind, "Let us through, we’re going in first."
The Bamboo Hat Woman turned her head and seemed to glance at the Little Ghost. Spencer Aiden glared back, thinking, what’s the big deal about seeing a second-rank ghost like me!
The Ghost Knight also said to the woman, "Step aside."
The woman sneered coldly, but did not persist and actually moved out of the way.
The other ghosts and spirits passed through normally after being inspected and entered.
When it was Spencer Aiden’s turn, he took out everything he had. The Bamboo Hat Woman chuckled beside him, "This little ghost is quite wealthy."
Of course, what Spencer Aiden returned was a fierce glare.
The woman showed no fear and laughed again.
After Owen Bertram entered, he saw a Ghost Knight galloping over, stopping at the entrance and shouting, "Judge Lord has ordered: We welcome those who come to trade, but you must abide by our rules. If you stir up trouble, you will be punished according to the laws of the Ghost Zone!"
The Bamboo Hat Woman nodded, "That’s natural."
Owen Bertram turned around, and this fellow was following him! He stared coldly at the woman, even using his yin energy. Normally, any cultivator who encountered such a gaze would feel their blood run cold.
However, the Bamboo Hat Woman just scoffed and even defiantly moved closer!
Owen Bertram felt helpless; the ghostly Spencer Aiden was still too weak.
He ignored the tail following behind him, walked around with his hands behind his back, posing as a "Great Ghost", and occasionally commented on the items at the roadside stalls.
He established a conceited, cruel, and somewhat superficial image of a ferocious ghost.
As for how to determine the pros and cons of these goods... Owen Bertram’s Commander’s Token frequently appeared in the Ghost Zone, and he could sense the entire zone through it.
The Ghost Market had been operating for some time now, and countless transactions had taken place. Every time a transaction occurred, the Commander’s Token could sense it. Even if Owen Bertram didn’t deliberately memorize them, he already had an intimate understanding of most of the items in the Ghost Market.
Of course, this only applied to the grade of goods in the Ghost Market. For higher-grade items, he was at a complete loss.
Spencer Aiden’s power as a second-rank peak ghost was indeed considerable in the current Ghost Market. Those merchants whose flaws in their goods were mercilessly pointed out by him could only swallow their anger and lower their prices reluctantly.
This did attract a group of Little Ghosts following behind Owen Bertram, taking advantage of his discerning eye.
However, after turning around, Owen Bertram did not find anything he liked and was anxious to check out the expensive items in the shops. Suddenly, he noticed the Bamboo Hat Woman giving up on him and heading towards a corner.
In the corner, there were several spirits cowering, with shallow cultivation levels, barely stepping into the first rank. They seemed to be naturally timid and dared not go to crowded places. They huddled in the corner with some spiritual medicine displayed in front of them, too scared to tout for business.
The Bamboo Hat Woman knew these spirits. On the way, she heard them talking about digging up some old ginseng and lingzhi mushrooms. She took a distant look, and noticed a good item.
"How much?"
A Tree Spirit cautiously asked, "Which one is the guest asking about?"
"All of them, I’m too lazy to pick and choose. Give me a total price." The Bamboo Hat Woman appeared impatient.
The Tree Spirits were overjoyed. They had been waiting for half a day, and no one had come to their stall. Yet, the first person to come was a major customer.
"We appreciate the guest’s straightforwardness. We originally planned to sell these for ten Spirit Jades, but you can have them for eight."
The Bamboo Hat Woman was delighted, but just as she was about to pay, an annoying voice suddenly sounded from the side, "Oh dear! This is the first time I’ve seen such a stupid fellow. All the other little ghosts in the market are desperately setting high prices, yet you guys ask for a price far lower than the actual value.
Are you guys inexperienced or just naturally kind-hearted? Hahaha..."
The Bamboo Hat Woman turned around sharply, her eyes hidden behind the bamboo hat, glaring fiercely at "Spencer Aiden"!
Owen Bertram waved his hands in feigned fear, "Oh dear, it seems the lady wants to eat me, I better leave."
The other spirits stopped him, "Fellow Daoist, please stay!"
The leading Tree Spirit asked humbly, "We indeed don’t understand the market. Please give us some guidance, and we will surely reward you handsomely."
"Tsk—" Owen Bertram disdained, "With these items, how much could you sell them for at most? And you’re talking about a handsome reward..."
The spirits felt embarrassed, but the more Owen Bertram made it difficult for them to save face, the more they trusted him.
"Fellow Daoist is righteous and helpful; we can see that. Please don’t hesitate to give us advice."
Owen Bertram glanced at their spiritual medicine, "According to the current market, at least fifteen Spirit Jades."
The Bamboo Hat Woman chuckled coldly, her voice old and hoarse, "Such a high price, will you buy it?"
