Chapter 1447: Chapter 536: Trek in the Void_2

Though theoretically possible to kill all the temporal avatars in a single attack, Owen Bertram estimated that it would be challenging for him to accomplish it at his current level.

However, as an alternative, he could kill a portion of them in one shot and do it multiple times until all temporal avatars were wiped out - just like what happened to the rope earlier.

Owen Bertram had acted earlier near the "Void Life Gate," inadvertently transmitting his attack to several related "temporal spaces," severing not only the rope in front of him but also the ropes in seven other "temporal spaces."

Owen Bertram had determined that there were not an infinite number of "temporal spaces" in the Tail Demise Palace. The six floors of the palace were almost completely isolated from each other, connected only by those fissures in time and space. The temporal spaces of the other five floors rarely appeared on the next floor, and this floor had about fifty of them.

Like the earlier situation with the rope, another six or seven attempts like that would completely destroy the "rope." Owen Bertram was not concerned about whether there were any more temporal avatars of the rope in the temporal spaces of the upper five floors. His goal was not to explore the Tail Demise Palace but to find and kill James and then withdraw.

So Owen Bertram immediately set his policy: since he was inferior to James in terms of overall rules, he would not force anything. Instead, he would sort out the rules of the void and kill any deities he could not avoid, just breaking through!

The real challenge was the powerful deities, such as the one that had abducted Princess Amelia. As a mere subordinate, it had rendered the Tire-7 Demon Saint powerless.

Owen Bertram took a step following the void’s rules, with the National Master closely following. Although it was just one step, it was precisely positioned on the rules of the void. The scene in front of them instantly changed, and they appeared next to a large black river. A giant ship floated by on the river, with a tall pole on the front lifting a huge blood-red lantern, and all kinds of weird statues lined up on both sides of the ship!

The statues mechanically rotated, and various sinister-looking gazes swept toward the two of them.

Owen Bertram quickly pulled the National Master and took a lateral step to avoid the statues. He did not want to face the deities on the ship, so he decided to dodge immediately. However, this step did not lead Owen Bertram to where he intended to go.

Whoosh-

They found themselves standing in a dead grassland, and the ground beneath their feet was actually a "face" covering an area hundreds of miles in size! Owen Bertram quickly took another step, and this time the two appeared in a cave, surrounded by horrifying gales. Strange skulls floated in the wind, and upon seeing the duo, they let out excited ’gugugu’ sounds and rushed towards them.

Owen Bertram took a third step, landing in a crystal-like beehive in the void. It branched out countless red strands, seemingly unaware of Owen Bertram and the National Master, who both breathed a sigh of relief. But then, they felt an endless wave of exhaustion – Owen Bertram suddenly realized it was a hypnotic-like Divine Power!

The fourth step!

Fortunately, the fourth step finally got them back on track. Owen Bertram circled around and returned to the void path that was tracking Princess Amelia. However, even this "temporal space" was not peaceful. A group of unicorn-like giant lizards surrounded a strange dragon statue atop a tall volcano.

The nearest subordinate was only a step away from Owen Bertram. Without any hesitation, it lowered its head, emitting circles of gray-black energy from its horn. Owen Bertram felt a surge of irritability, which was swiftly replaced by an empty and powerless feeling. He had no idea what kind of authority these bizarre "deities" possessed.

With no way to avoid the attack, Owen Bertram held his sword in front of him. The subordinate’s thick tail swept over, clashing with the two of them. Owen Bertram used this opportunity to find the next path, pulling the National Master along to escape.

In the next temporal space, they found a fallen Sun lodged in the ground, turning the area into an apocalyptic wasteland. Owen Bertram did not dare to stay for a moment and immediately took another step to escape the area first.

The pursuit of Princess Amelia was full of frustration. Although Owen Bertram could find the "void path," he did not know what the next "temporal space" would look like. Often, they would seem close to catching up, only to suddenly enter an extremely dangerous temporal space. Then they would have to leave immediately and start "taking detours," sometimes even having to take detours during the detour process. After several roundabouts, they would see the wooden deity taking the Little Princess farther away.

They still did not know if the Little Princess was alive. Owen Bertram wanted to give up, but his conscience would not let him.

The National Master could not bear always being in the "protected" position as Owen Bertram dragged her along. She said to him, "You focus on finding the path, and leave the rest to me."

Owen Bertram trusted her, and their cooperation was highly tacit, significantly increasing their speed. In particularly dangerous temporal spaces, Owen Bertram would "panic" and escape without the National Master having to ask.

James was hiding in the "rule" of the Tail Demise Palace. He held a duster in his hand, its silver threads extending into the surrounding void. It was thanks to this treasure that he could safely traverse the various temporal spaces.

This treasure had originally come from the Tail Demise Palace. In history, several Great Demons had obtained the duster, but all died within the palace. Just as Owen Bertram had guessed, the treasure only allowed the holder to understand the palace’s rule but not control it.
