Chapter 1364: Chapter 512: The Gate of the Tiger_3
King of Sangdao Country had little influence! Almost all of Sangdao’s power was in the hands of the National Master, especially among the high-ranking cultivators. Over these years, the king has tried to "diligently govern" and even personally recruited potential talents, but so far, he only has two Sixth Great Realm experts by his side, far inferior to the National Master.
As for the garrison in the capital city and the royal palace, the total number is around four thousand, considered as a "large army" within Sangdao Country, yet before the Seventh Realm Supreme, these troops are almost useless.
The National Master and the king didn’t meet often, which was well known within Sangdao. The people of Sangdao knew that the king coveted the National Master’s beauty, so the National Master didn’t want to meet with the king often. In other words, the chance of Mr. Sun encountering the National Master was almost zero, as the secret plot between Mr. Sun and the National Master was known only to the two of them.
Jone racked his brain for another reason: "Sir, there are many mysterious secret methods in Sangdao. The king doesn’t have many powerful people on his side but there must be arrangements like Great Formations inside and outside the royal palace. We cannot underestimate them."
Mr. Sun secretly laughed: The National Master has already told me about those arrangements.
"Enough, do not try to dissuade me anymore. My decision is final. Just act as usual here and don’t expose anything. I will return shortly after my trip," he said.
Jone could only sigh in resignation.
...
Upon returning from Tenshukaku, the king was sullen the whole way, and his close ministers dared not speak, especially the five who accompanied the king and the National Master to the meeting. They hid far away for fear of being the target of the king’s anger.
Sangdao was not vast. The distance from the capital to the National Master’s Tenshukaku was only a few hundred miles. However, Sangdao was poor, and the king couldn’t afford Flying Carriage Palaces like the Great Wu Emperor. He traveled back and forth in a royal carriage, which took at least three days for a one-way trip.
While the king was on the way, the carriage jolted, and the cup of tea on the table spilled, dousing him in hot tea. He vented his anger on the attendants who accompanied the carriage and ordered the execution of three people before finally letting out a breath of malice.
He summoned the five ministers to sit with him in the carriage and then let out a long sigh, "This Sangdao Country is no longer mine!"
The five ministers wept and kowtowed. The king won their loyalty by helping them up one by one, asking, "Are you all willing to join me in eradicating the traitors, restoring the royal power, and rebuilding the bright universe?"
The five of them kowtowed again, "We will definitely unite and give our all to your cause!"
The king laughed heartily, feeling slightly better, "Good! With the will of the people, we will succeed. Please rise, gentlemen."
Just as the convoy was passing between the towering mountain peaks, the king looked out of the carriage window and saw a pass in front of him. A huge rock lay there, shaped like a roaring tiger with its mouth wide open, which stirred emotions in his heart, "What is this place? The historians will record our ambition among such magnificent sights today, leaving our names eternally known because of this place!"
A minister’s family was nearby, so he peered out and said, "Your Majesty, the mountain is called LuTHEr Mountain, and the cliff in front of us resembling a fierce tiger is the famous Tiger’s Gate, one of the Unparalleled Sceneries."
The king praised, "What a great place and a great name, Tiger’s Gate. With the help of knowledgeable men like us, we have established our resolve to kill the tiger here..."
Before the king could finish his speech, suddenly a figure appeared on the Tiger’s Gate. The figure swooped down toward the convoy like a golden eagle.
As the person was still mid-air, a terrifying aura pressed down. Hundreds of war horses in the convoy panicked and neighed, breaking free from the control of their riders, throwing them off, and fleeing in all directions.
"Someone is trying to assassinate the king!"
The two accompanying Sixth Great Realm experts snorted coldly and ascended to kill the assassin: the foolish fellow who dared to attempt an assassination under our protection must be a death soldier trained by an ambitious local lord.
As they rose into the air, they suddenly felt the pressure of a powerful rule. Even the Sixth Great Realm experts had no resistance under this rule and were completely restrained.
Immediately after, a new world unfolded, overlapping with the heavens and earth, sealing off everything in the surrounding area!
The two experts of the Sixth Great Realm were terrified: "Mini-world, Cultivation King Realm!"
As Mr. Sun strode through the air, he passed by the dazed pair and flipped his palm twice, striking their heads with a slap. The two men’s heads shattered, their souls scattered and floating away. Above the mini-world, a Commander’s Token appeared, sucking in the escaping souls and preventing their escape.
"Ahh!"
The King screamed, his erstwhile bravado suddenly vanished. He swiftly removed his robe and tried to crawl under the carriages to escape. Although the chances of escaping this way were slim, it was better than waiting for death to come.
Master Sun flicked his fingers, and the Swordswoman swooped into action. She circled around the convoy, cutting down Sangdao martial cultivators and Imperial Court officials one by one.
Master Sun went to the royal carriage, effortlessly sending the heavy vehicle flying several dozen feet, shattering upon impact. He then scooped up the king like an eagle snatching a chick.
The King screamed, "Spare me, brave warrior! I can give you money, whatever you want, I can give you!"
Master Sun laughed coldly, "The price I want, you cannot afford!" Can you afford to give me Sangdao and the National Master of the Seventh Level?
Shaking his head, Master Sun let the Gourd Vine Immortal Rope slither out of his sleeve, wrapping around the King’s neck and tightening relentlessly! Master Sun calmly said, "As a ruler of a nation, you deserve the dignity of a preserved corpse."
The King of Sangdao, dead.
Bodies lay all around, their souls devoured by the Responsive Object Command Token. Master Sun surveyed the scene, knowing that nothing could escape the perception of a Cultivation King within the mini-world. Once certain no loose ends remained, Master Sun tore open the Breaking Void and returned to the Eastern Land.
The job was even easier than Master Sun had anticipated: The most difficult part should have been the secret formations within the Royal Palace. The National Master was supposed to understand most of it, but the King had added some arrangements over the years.
Unexpectedly, the King left the capital city to meet the National Master, making it easy for Master Sun to intercept and kill him en route, a mission almost too leisurely.
Upon Master Sun’s return to the Eastern Land, he met with Jone, who relievedly chided him for his risk-taking and beseeched him not to endanger himself so recklessly again.
On the way back to the Summit Metropolitan Office, Master Sun used a Communication Talisman to notify the National Master: "I have fulfilled my promise." He then asked with slight confusion, "How have you managed to tolerate a worthless ruler like the King all these years?"
The National Master ignored his question and simply severed their communication.
A few days later, news of the Sangdao King’s assassination spread. By the time it reached the Great Wu, people laughed: Sangdao and the Great Wu were indeed "brother nations," even holding state funerals together.
Was the Sangdao King afraid his predecessor would be lonely in the afterlife, so he hurried down to accompany him?
When the Great Wu Emperor learned of this, he remained outwardly calm, even issuing a decree to send officials to express condolences. However, in his heart, he understood that this was the "gift" Master Sun had mentioned before leaving.
What a capable brother I have! This gift is too precious, and though I want to refuse it, it has been delivered directly into my heart.
...
Although the King’s death was significant, Sangdao remained stable. The National Master personally rushed to the capital to take control, and then announced that the King had been killed by a powerful Cultivator from the Central State, vowing to hunt down the murderer and avenge the King!
Subsequently, the King’s position passed to a young prince under the National Master’s stewardship. The National Master corrected the former King’s oppressive policies one by one, granting the people real benefits.
Master Sun, however, puzzled over the new King’s youth. Why was the child only six years old? After inquiring with Jone, he found that many of the King’s legitimate heirs had been involved in "wrongdoings" and would suffer accidents within the next few years.
Since the late King and his heirs were all rotten apples, the oldest one left was this six-year-old child!
Master Sun couldn’t help but marvel, "What a fellow you are, National Master! With your cunning insight and ruthless heart, it turns out you had long planned to overthrow and rule the kingdom! My request for mutual regicide played right into your hands."
On the matter, the National Master admitted to Master Sun, "Rather than let those cruel princes ascend to the throne and exploit the people, it’s better to arrange a good end for them. As for regicide and ruling the country... only if the King forced this National Master into the palace would I take that step."
