Chapter 130: Put on the shelf before saying two things_1

I can’t even remember how many times I’ve been on the shelves, but what I can remember is that when my Virgo novel "Immortal Legend" was first shelved, I was still in college. Back then, writing was purely a hobby, and I wasn’t thinking about making money. Then one day, I suddenly didn’t want to ask my parents for money anymore, so I decided to put my work on the shelves. Until now, I am sincerely grateful for web novels; otherwise, I might have been running a hard-working business in my 40s and had no strength left. I could have only hoped for a position in the office to enjoy my retirement years.

Or maybe I could have returned to my hometown and joined a department, limiting myself for the rest of my life.

I guess my life could have been not so bad, but it definitely wouldn’t have been as exciting. Being able to turn my interests and hobbies into a career is truly a blessing.

My achievements in recent years have indeed not been as good as before, and with the Platinum title, I inevitably attract envy. Whenever I publish a book, some bizarre accounts always pop up with weird comments. After all, I am getting old, and I just delete the comments and ignore them. In the past, I would have cursed them out...

On the 12th, which was five days ago, I received a birthday cake from Starting Point. At the time, I was quite emotional. After my whole birthday, I’ll be 40 years old and have been writing web novels for eighteen years!

Back at the annual meetings, I used to be a young boy, and now people say, "I grew up reading your books."

I’ve been preparing this book for four or five months, and I’ve discarded about 400,000 words. I tried to adapt it to the current tastes of readers, change the story’s pace, add more exciting points, change my writing habits, and so on. I even began to worry uncharacteristically, sometimes thinking I didn’t have to try so hard – I’m not young anymore, and new people are constantly entering the world of online literature, so I can’t compete.

It wasn’t until this afternoon that I suddenly realized: Many people jokingly say that "men are forever young at heart," and it’s actually true. Over the past eighteen years, there have been moments of exhaustion, pain, and even weariness, but no matter what other hobbies I have developed over these years, my favorite thing is still reading novels.

I don’t know how many books I’ve read in so many years, but when I find a book that suits my taste, I still can’t help but want to finish it overnight, always reading until 4-5 AM and forcing myself to stop: No, I have to write tomorrow.

My love for web novels is still as strong as it was when I was in college, when I suddenly slapped my head and thought, "I can write too."

So I still want to write interesting stories, make more people see and like these stories.

I want to create unique characters and hope that many years later, people may not remember the plot but still have a vivid memory of a particular action or line from one of my characters.

I entered this line of work because I loved it, and it’s that love that has kept me going all this time, and I believe that it will continue to do so. I just love reading and writing, and every day after finishing my daily update readings, my mood improves a lot. If I see a slow-paced author suddenly post three or four updates, I’ll happily exclaim, "That’s rare!"

If someone who usually updates consistently suddenly delays, I’ll always feel like, "Oh, what a letdown!"

So, we’re shelved at 12 PM today. Let’s give ourselves a rare ’wow’ too.
