Chapter 1062: Chapter 515: Infiltrating the Mountain of the Secret Realm_3
The mountains occasionally rumble, and hordes of wild beasts flee in panic.
General Aaron Chalon, who was sent to meet up with the folks from Black God Manor, is under Franklin’s command. As a member of the Fourth Great Realm, and hailing from a prominent sect in Antai Country, he looked down on the rabble that served under Alen Charle.
Upon meeting up with Alen, Chalon said, "You’re late! Follow me quickly. This is a chance for your small sects. If not for the vast size of Sid Farming Mountain, Lady Tamsin Macy would never have accepted you guys.
You need to know your place and do your jobs diligently. Show your worth, or you’ll be sent back once this ordeal is over."
"Yes, thank you for the advice, Your Excellency."
As expected, the troops of Black God Manor were assigned to the outskirts of Sid Farming Mountain, guarding a gamut of about twenty miles wide. Aaron Chalon gave him a few talismans, saying, "If there’s an attack from foreign cultivators and you can’t hold them off, smash the talisman immediately for backup."
Owen Bertram said, "Your Excellency, my disciples can handle the outskirts. I wish to accompany Lady Tamsin Macy and delve deeper into the Ancient Annihilation Domain for the chance to revive our Antai Country."
"You?" Chalon glanced at him sideways, full of disdain. Owen ground his teeth but still covertly pulled out a Tire-4 magical artifact from Alen’s possessions and handed it over. "I implore you to speak for me. If I manage to gain anything in the Ancient Annihilation Domain, there will be more rewards."
Chalon eyeballed the Tire-4 artifact in his hand, somewhat unimpressed. However, it was a Grade 4 treasure, and while he couldn’t use it, he could reward his disciples with it. He accepted the bribe and nodded, "Wait for my news."
After Chalon left, Owen of course didn’t bother to make careful defensive arrangements. He left everything to his trusted aides and stealthily sensed the Sid Farming Mountain.
With Macy’s presence in the mountains, Owen had to be discreet. He could only sense that the void within Sid Farming Mountain was unstable, suppressing a powerful force, like a volcano on the brink of eruption.
What he was more eager to figure out was whether Baker Refinement City was truly buried beneath the mountain.
"Seems like I can only wait for the opening of the Ancient Annihilation Domain."
At night, Chalon sent a disciple to notify Owen, "My master secured a spot for you. You may accompany Lady Macy into the Ancient Annihilation Domain. Follow me and stay out of trouble along the way. Once we reach, wait patiently."
"Alright, I understand."
The disciple led him in. They encountered several checkpoints along the way but made it through smoothly. They only reached a mountainside by late night. Atop the slope lay a magnificent palace—the magical artifact of Macy. When packed, it was palm-sized. When deployed, it created a grand, comfortable chambers.
The lodgings for the other cultivators at the foot of the slope weren’t as luxurious, with a jumble of tents and temporary tree houses. The disciple handed Owen over to a Fourth Great Realm cultivator and then left. Knowing that Owen had used connections to get in, he didn’t think much of Owen and casually pointed to a spot, "You can stay here."
Figure the rest out on your own.
Owen built himself a temporary tree house and waited patiently. Sitting there, he could sense a faint but powerful force covering an area of about ten miles. Every move of all beings within this radius was being secretly monitored.
The source of this power was naturally Tamsin Macy in the palace on the slope.
"This is another way to use domain power." Owen Bertram had a similar idea; using a limited domain with reduced scope and authority, but maintaining a powerful sense of perception. This setup allows for a "warning area" within a certain distance from the user, which is more sensitive and swift than a powerful cultivator’s sense of qi.
However, Owen only pondered this idea without implementing it himself. Who would have thought he’d encounter someone in Antai Country who actually did! He couldn’t help but mutter to himself, "Indeed, practical experience is as important as theoretical knowledge.’
Nick Liam communicated with him through the communication talisman, "This is the combination of [Fist Intent] and domain power. Although it appears all-encompassing like domain power, the domain is only the foundation—the real power lies in her formidable fist intent, it’s something you cannot mimic without practicing boxing."
Miss Liam, excitedly yet with effort to suppress her exhilaration, said, "To be capable of displaying such skills, her boxing technique must be exquisite and her boxing talent extraordinary! I’m yearning more and more to have a fight with her!".
Owen overlooked the last sentence and pondered over the [Fist Intent] that Nick mentioned. Indeed, with Nick’s explanation, Owen gained a deeper understanding of Tamsin Macy’s approach."What if we substitute it with another kind of power, such as Sword Intent?"
After considering it, Nick Liam replied: "In theory, it is feasible, but Fist Intent and Sword Intent are different. Fist Intent is profound, condensed, and explosive, so when combined with the power of the Domain, the alert area created has a state of ’accumulation without release’."
"Sword Intent is excessively sharp, even if it can be combined with the power of the Domain, the area opened up will probably be used for annihilation, rather than warning."
Owen Bertram nodded, it was indeed a problem. If this "area" became a means of killing after opening, why not just use the Domain directly? Yet, he felt intrigued by this issue. This was a hunch, and he didn’t know exactly where this "intrigue" was heading. He ceased talking to Nick Liam and quietly contemplated Tamsin Macy’s "global warning" while pondering the issue of combining Sword Intent with the Domain.
...
Ethereal Devin and two Officiants of the Fourth Great Realm cooperated and repulsed a group of cultivators from Antai Country.
"This is already the third batch." an Officiant doubted: "How did Antai Country dare to obstruct our envoy?" Not just him, no one in the troop understood.
Before this, Antai Country had not shown any "disloyalty".
Ethereal Devin imperceptibly glanced at Santa at the rear of the group, but still followed Owen Bertram’s command- these "trivial" matters should not bother the Predecessor.
"Did we get in contact with our intelligence network here?"
"It will take some time. The secrecy level of foreign spies is very high, we have no direct contact, and it needs personal approval from the lord. This delays the communication."
Ethereal Devin nodded, turned and stood before Santa and respectfully asked: "Predecessor, where would you like to go next?"
Santa, with one hand behind him and the other leaning on the Fire Staff, was like a stumbling hunchbacked man, but he covered vast distances with every step: "Wherever I please, just follow me."
He remained silent, Ethereal Devin could only accept the order, but he understood that there must be something fishy about this.
...
Owen Bertram had tried several times to consolidate Sword Intent and attempt to combine it with the Domain within him, but all ended in failure. He had to admit, what he learnt was too miscellaneous, unlike Tamsin Macy and Nick Liam who could well concentrate pure Fist Intent.
His Sword Skill was impressive, yet he did not devote himself to the practice of Swordsmanship. For him, Sword Skill was a way to fend off enemies, while for Tamsin Macy and Nick Liam, it was their passion.
If it was just a fight, his Sword Skill could exchange blows with their Fist Skill, he could even have a slight advantage. However, when it came to the level of Fist Intent and Sword Intent, he seemed somewhat inadequate.
This also made Owen Bertram examine his own path of cultivation for the first time. Tamsin Macy and Nick Liam specialized in a single technique, while he pursued a more comprehensive approach. Neither could be said to be better than the other. Those specializing in a single technique often exhibit unimaginable destructive power in battles. The advantage of being comprehensive is that it provides more options in different situations and can defuse more dangers.
After all, no one can have the best of both worlds.
After weighing things up, Owen didn’t abandon the idea of gathering Sword Intent. His Swordsmanship had become quite strong, mastering five top-tier Sword Skills, he just needed a little more to gather pure Sword Intent.
But right now on Sid Farming Mountain, it was not the right time for cultivation. Any movement of his Sword Qi would be sensed by Tamsin Macy.
At this moment, Owen received a request sent from the Summit Metropolitan Office: Ethereal Devin needs to utilize the intelligence network of Horizon Bureau in Antai Country! Owen was taken aback: Did Santa come to Antai Country? Didn’t he go to Wood Dynasty?
Pondering while stroking his chin, Owen felt things had become more fascinating. What was Santa here for? Was it also for Sid Farming Mountain?
Owen ordered: Support Ethereal Devin.
