Chapter 1053: Chapter 513: Everyone has a Choice_1
The Pavilion Master of the Mysterious Pavilion’s reverie led even Master Bertram to ponder, really considering using the primordial spirit, Santa, as the energy core of the entire Void Channel... and found it surprisingly suitable!
He shook his head vigorously, he was acting ridiculous, he shouldn’t think about it any further - his predecessor would hit him!
"Predecessor, cool your temper, this person is a fool, his mind is full of the Void Array, he certainly didn’t mean to offend you. Please come with me, I will show you the parts that we have completed."
"Humph!" Santa harrumphed, casting a fierce glare at the others from the Mysterious Pavilion: these damned fellows, all watching him with gleaming eyes, clearly in agreement with the Pavilion Master’s point of view.
Especially this damned man, Owen Bertram!
Master Bertram quickly ushered Santa away, he could only say... academics really have audacity. When they arrived at the location of the large Void Channel, Santa examined it carefully, then asked, "According to what you said, the Void that leads to the Red Clan Barbarian Continent is inherently complex and chaotic, how can you ensure a safe journey through this area?"
Bertram explained his entire solution. He assumed that Santa probably wouldn’t understand since it was too specialized, but Santa’s gaze indicated that he did understand.
Santa stood with his hands clasped behind him, holding his Fire Staff. After considering it for a long time, he silently took out his Jade Pot, "Take it. Even the best treasures can only realize their value when used."
"Being able to invade the Red Clan Barbarian Continent, this Jade Pot filled with Void Jade Sand will have served its purpose!"
"Thank you, Predecessor!" The first one to express their gratitude was not Bertram, but the hobbled Pavilion Master who had quickly returned. He reached out to take the Jade Pot, but Santa didn’t let go, sneeringly asked, "Should I also act as the energy core for your Array next?"
Pavilion Master ecstatically replied, "Thank you, esteemed Predecessor for your sacrifice..."
Once again, the Pavilion Master was sent flying out. Satisfied, Santa drew back his foot and handed the Jade Pot to Bertram. Bertram took out a sufficient amount, distributed it among the members of the Mysterious Pavilion, and kept the remainder for himself - showing no intention of returning it to Santa.
Santa twitched, but ultimately didn’t ask for it back.
Bertram inquired, "Does Predecessor have any plans for the future?"
Santa had considered this beforehand, "I plan on traveling the world, getting to know this era, then return to Nirvana Grand Tomb to wait for my Master’s return!"
Bertram immediately proposed, "Why not let me arrange for some people to accompany and assist the Predecessor? Given your special status, having people from the Horizon Bureau around can help eliminate many unnecessary troubles. Although Predecessor wouldn’t be afraid, it can still be bothersome."
Santa looked at him and bluntly asked, "Do you not wish to let me leave?"
"Predecessor is jesting, how would I dare? Predecessor has done a great service to the Human Race, please allow me to repay this gratitude in a small way, else I cannot be at ease."
"Rest assured, the people I arrange will not disrupt Predecessor and will not interfere with Predecessor’s understanding of the current situation in this era."
"As a primordial spirit, trekking across the Eastern Continent is quite risky."
"There are individuals in this world that have reached the Seventh Level, the Nine Witch Demon Court, the 36 Tribes of the Northern Region, and Sang Island. Even Predecessor may find it hard to keep safe if their Seventh Level individuals were to collaborate."
"Most of these people are selfish and won’t consider the significant contribution Predecessor has made to our race. They will only covet a primordial spirit!"
Santa, after a long consideration, harrumphed, "You underestimate me. Nonetheless, you make some sense. Fine, you make the arrangements. Keep in mind that your people can only follow. If they try any tricks to mislead me, don’t blame me for showing no mercy with my Spirit Fire." As he said this, a dragon-shaped Spirit Fire whirled around in his hand, roaring endlessly.
"If that’s truly the case, Predecessor may take action as you see fit!"
Bertram led Santa to rest while considering who to assign to follow Santa.
Behind them - the Pavilion Master hobbled his way back, making a racket as he scrambled for the Void Jade Sand with his followers. No one in the Mysterious Pavilion paid any attention to where Master Bertram and Santa had gone.
Master Bertram believed that the best choice was Catherine. This girl had a generous character and was quite shrewd. However, to assign a water cultivator to accompany the Old Fire Monkey, wouldn’t this be like intentionally making them uncomfortable?
The rest of his subordinates did not exhibit major differences.
"In that case, give the people who have followed me the longest -- an opportunity." Bertram initiated multiple Communication Talismans at the same time, summoning Vanessa Thoughts of Shadow, Ethereal Devin, Nathan Lane, and David, who were currently each managing different tasks. Except for Ethereal Devin, everybody else had proven their ability to manage on their own.
"I have something to tell all of you, how you decide depends on your own will. I will explain everything to you."
Bertram explained Santa’s situation, "Now we need someone to accompany a predecessor in his travels around the Eastern Continent."
Everyone seemed eager, but before they could say anything, they were interrupted by Master Bertram’s stern voice, "Hear me out first!"
"This Santa, is not indeed the Tomb Guardian of the Red Dragon Master. He might be the divine sense of Red Dragon Master himself! His body does belong to the Primordial Spirit Curitis Clan, but his consciousness must be of the Red Dragon Master."
From the moment the Old Fire Monkey first appeared in the Nirvana Grand Tomb, Master Bertram made this assumption. Subsequent evidence only further cemented his conviction.
