My Dear Duke(BL) -
Chapter 76: Shopping(1)
Chapter 76: Shopping(1)
That day, in the evening they went to the town.
Felix, Anne and Asher.
Anne wanted Asher also to come along with them so Asher also joined them on their trip to the town. Usually, a servant would of course follow them, so it wasn’t a big deal. Asher happily followed them.
As soon as they came to the town, Anne tried to plead with Felix to have some tea first, then go shopping. He kind of guessed she would pull this trick. But, he wasn’t going to give in to her easily because he wanted to finish the main task they took this special trip for, first.
So the two started arguing and in the end, Asher was stuck in the middle, having to choose a side.
"I am tired. I need to fill my stomach and then go look at the dresses."
"No, we can first look at the dresses and then, go to a dessert shop. Listen to me Anne."
"No...Brother Ash! Tell him!"
Anne turned to Asher and he was startled as the duke also turned to him.
"Tell her Asher. We need to go shopping first."
Asher looked back and forth at the pair waiting for his answer. He was dumbfounded as he couldn’t figure out whose side to take. None sounded unfair, so...he was stuck in the middle.
But, why would they even ask him to give an opinion by the way? He was just there to help them.
"Duke, Miss Anne...Please don’t ask me! How would I know?"
Asher complained.
The duke and Anne tried to reason with each other and in the end, they came to an agreement that the duke would buy two cakes instead of one. But, they wouldn’t be eating at a dessert shop. Both cakes were to be brought back home.
Anne was stubborn so this was the only way to quickly get things done as Felix didn’t want to waste time arguing. Because with Anne, dress shopping takes a lot of time too.
So after finally a war between the two, Asher was happy that they had calmed down. Next, they stepped into the cloth store.
Asher was informed they were going to pick clothes for a party and the duke specially informed him it would take more time than he would imagine. But Asher didn’t mind so he stuck along. What’s so hard about choosing clothes? He would see how much time it would take.
As soon as the three entered the shop, the ring at the top of the door rang and everyone looked their way to see who came.
Upon seeing them, the people who also seemed to be nobles, who must have come for the same purpose as them, looked away and whispered to each other. They didn’t even hide their displeasure which Asher thought was really disrespectful.
But the duke and Anne didn’t even look at any of them. They both still seemed just like before as if they didn’t care.
’Maybe they are used to it by now. I am sure this is not the first time they have experienced this.’
But Asher suspected if it didn’t make them at least upset for being disrespected like this.
"Oh my! Who is this?! Little Miss Anne! It’s been a long time."
A young woman who saw them hurriedly came to them. That pretty young lady smiled and acted all pleasant around them, very welcoming.
Asher was quite surprised given the others’ responses but as he looked at Anne, he saw her smile back too.
Miss Anne must know her too...That lady called her by Miss’s name too.
"Hello miss Anna. It’s been a long time."
Anne greeted her back politely. Asher, pleased to see that lady treating Miss Anne with so much consideration, watched as she bowed her head to the duke respectfully, then, half kneeling to talk to Miss Anne.
She looked really kind and friendly.
Asher saw the people sitting around glaring at them, rolling their eyes. Asher now started to think he should also just not look at them and upset himself for the duke and miss Anne.
They are too dumb to see the worth of these two people.
Stupid...
So, this pretty, kind, young woman was the owner of this shop.
She was also a nobel daughter but she had always been friendly to everyone including Anne and Felix despite most of the noble class people having very bad impressions about them.
So it was obvious why Anne prefered her shop. Since the owner listened to their requests and treated every customer equally, she felt a sense of relief and comfort to get their service.
"Why is Little Miss here? Are you also here to look for a dress for the next ball?"
"Yes."
Anne answered her and looked at Felix, excited.
"Who do you want your dresses made by?"
The lady asked and Anne smiled widely before answering again.
"Miss Nova."
"Haha. You like her dresses the most, don’t you? I will call her."
This shop has many custom cloth tailors. One can choose who they want their dress or dresses made by, and have a meeting with that specific tailor to discuss their plan for the dress and give her or him the job of creating that dress.
Anne had always gotten her clothes made by miss Nova who was a young woman still new in this industry. Even though she didn’t get orders as much as other tailors working in that shop, Anne personally liked her clothes.
So, as always her voice was still Miss fjdnd.
After some time of waiting, the owner came back with the young woman Anne was waiting for.
"Here is miss Nova. If you want something else, call me. I am around here. Then I am leaving."
The owner left them and the young lady smiled at Anne since they knew each other well.
After some greetings and talking with Anne, the lady turned to the duke. Asher watched them from behind, Miss Anne all happy and excited.
"Does sir also want a suit?"
"Yeah."
The duke answered the lady and she nodded with a gentle smile.
"Okay then, you all may follow me inside."
She led them into a room to have their meeting. Asher also followed them inside as the duke asked him to do so.
It was nice to have the duke asking him to stay close with them. Even without Asher having to ask the duke if he should also come inside with them, the duke already asked him to follow them as if he knew Asher was wondering whether to follow them in or stay outside.
However once he stepped inside, he was taken aback.
’What a mess.’
Asher looked around all the clothes hanging around and the pile of books, scissors and all the tailing tools scattered on the table. It was kind of a mess that made Asher panic. However, the lady quickly poured all the tools into a bag, cleared the table and apologised for letting them witness such a mess.
It’s actually impressive how quickly she cleared it up.
Asher silently sat behind the duke and watched as the lady brought a big book, then putting it in front of Anne who immediately reached out to flip the pages.
And, soon, Asher found out why the duke warned him about time.
’Damn...this is taking so long.’
