"I also didn’t believe it at first. But now I also guess the rumour is true. If not, why would our duke bring Asher out of everyone? Something is going on between them."

"And, Miss Anne is also very close to him."

Asher was trying so hard to hold his laughter upon hearing how he had become the duke’s secret lover all of a sudden.

It was hilarious how these people were very serious about this.

’Sigh...When did this rumour start? I didn’t even know.’

Asher shook his head and went to take a bath while thinking about what he heard. He found it funny and it didn’t seem like a problem.

When he came back, he met face to face with the two servants who ignored him obviously and walked away. But Asher could see them looking back at him.

’Huh! Right, I am their scary duke’s lover. What bullshit! But I should find out why this rumour started. Just because miss Anne was getting along with me? Or...did someone find out what I and the duke do? I don’t think Mary will tell anyone. She is the only one who knows we did something like this. Then...who else could have seen it? That’s quite embarrassing.’

Asher thought all the way to miss Anne’s room after he left the servants’ house

Asher knocked on his little miss’s door, but to his surprise, the room was empty.

’Where did she go?’

Asher quickly went around to look for her and met her on the hallway back to her room.

Only then did Asher sighed in relief and thought his over thinking had gotten worse.

"Brother Ash!"

Anne ran to Asher and threw herself at Asher. Knowing she would do this, Asher was prepared and held her.

"Did brother Ash rest enough?"

Miss Anne’s cute pouts made Asher smile and nod.

"You didn’t come to see me first."

Anne said and Asher felt she seemed upset about it.

"I am sorry miss. I was going to visit you when I come to work."

Asher was surprised when he saw her intensely stare at him all of a sudden.

"Hmph! He also said something similar."

Anne said.

"Who is he?"

Asher asked even though he knew she was referring to the duke.

Anne blinked once at his question, then changed her expression to a mischievous smile.

"I know what you two did."

Asher’s heart suddenly thumped and his body went cold. W-what does she know? What was she talking about?

"W-what? Who are you talking about?"

Asher asked, trying to calm down but still failing as her smile was giving him a bad feeling. As if exposed...

"Why is your heart beating so fast, brother Ash? My brother’s heart also thump like this when I talk about you."

Anne said and moved her face closer to Asher trying to intimidate him.

"What are you talking about?"

Asher put on a brave face and endured his miss’s teasing.

"I know...everything."

Asher’s face went pale as Anne said with her mischievous smile even widening.

’What does she know? Does she know about my and the duke’s affair? What am I going to do now? Does the duke know she knows too?’

Asher was panicking so much that he didn’t really pay attention to Anne who was enjoying her time as her teasing succeeded to make him panic.

"I know everything."

Anne repeated again as Asher turned to her, determined to confirm if his suspicions were true.

"What do you know, miss?"

Asher asked and Anne wiped off her smile, then went to hug Asher’s neck, leaning closer to his ear, while whispering playfully.

"I know you are my brother’s secret lover."

"..."

’...’

"Brother Ash!"

Asher was panicked as the tension grew with her trying to make it so dramatic. He even forgot to breathe but when he heard her answer he ended up catching a cough when a laugh came.

"Miss Anne...I am sorry."

Asher put her down and turned away to cough as his face slowly got red, recalling how much he panicked just to hear this nonsense from her now.

"Miss Anne...that’s a false rumour. You shouldn’t trust them. They are trying to cause trouble."

The more he thought about it the more funny it got recalling how serious everyone was about it.

"Well, then make it true."

"...?"

"You can’t do that, Miss Anne."

"Yeah, I can’t, but you can."

"No..I mean...it’s a rumour. I can’t just make it come true. They are all lies."

Asher saw the little girl suddenly go silent and thought he won. But...

"If you also can’t make it true, I will ask my brother to make it true. Hehe "

Anne winked at Asher before leaving to her room, leaving Asher, shocked and dumbfounded.

’Is she messing with me?’

Asher followed her inside and saw her on the chair by her window. Asher was about to argue about the previous matter again but then he accidentally touched his pants pocket and recalled the dead insect he brought.

’Yeah...I should give this to her.’

"Miss Anne, do you have a hobby of collecting insects?"

Asher asked and saw Anne looking at her with surprise. As expected, she must not have planned to tell him.

"How do you know?"

Asher sighed when Anne asked and handed her the insect he carefully brought for her.

"The duke told me. And he specially asked me to save this for you. I am quite disappointed that Miss Anne didn’t tell me you have such a hobby."

Asher said making a sad face and was quite taken aback seeing Anne nervously biting her lip and hesitating.

"I didn’t want ro tell you because I have a weird hobby. I thought you would also think it’s creepy."

Asher looked at her and realised this was why she never told him about it. Someone must have looked down on her for her hobby.

"Why would I think it’s creepy? People have different preferences. It’s normal."

Asher watched Anne, still hesitating, seem to not trust him.

"Miss Anne, don’t you want to show me your collection? The duke proudly told me you have a big collection."

Asher tried to hype her up and it seemed to succeed.

"Really?! Brother Ash really wants to see?"

Anne asked, seeming excited.

"Yes. Let’s see and put this one in your collection."

Asher said with a smile and watched Anne slowly curve her lips into a smile.

And then, she mumbled out in a cracked voice.

"Yeah, let’s do it."
